If you have bought any clothes, shoes/boots etc in the last week, thought it may be fun to say what the item was, where you bought it,and if it's for something special, tell us? It may give us some good ideas.smile

Then we must boot you off this thread KatyK as you are here under false pretences, grin

I bought my first ever pair of skinny jeans today, as well as a pair of lovely soft leggings/jeggings (not sure which they are!).

At last I'll be able to wear my long boots which have been gathering dust in the bottom of the wardrobe because they weren't right with bootcut jeans...smile

BTW, Nelliemoser, I live in M&S long-sleeved thermal vests for the best part of the year! wink

I had a good spend up on clothes- underpinnings, jumpers, tops and trousers and leggings when I was in UK last month - French trousers are a nightmare for me I find - just not the right shape. So nothing in clothing line for a while - but all set for the cold weather. smile
Had to buy a new freezer at the weekend. - had a power cut while we were away and did not switch back on - freezer off for three weeks - cleaned and disinfected and seemed OK but it is in fact smelly so easy enough decision to ditch it as we have had it about 18 years!

Ana I am glad it's not just me. Do you do hot water bottles as well. I tend to unless it's very warm.

Anne58 Mon 26-Oct-15 18:09:41

Not clothes, but I did collect 2 new pairs of glasses. smile

I also bought a new fire for the sitting room and (by accident) 6 electric toothbrushes of varying designs and prices. blush Luckily I was able to cancel those, but was not quite quick enough with the 4 different illuminated LED Christmas village models (don't ask) so unfortunately they are on their way.

I will be downloading some return labels.

No, I don't use a hot water bottle - strangely enough I rarely feel cold in bed, and it's really just my arms the rest of the time.

Did you start the Bailleys early this year phoenix ? grin

You know you are a gardener when...

You are looking at a nice warm pair of sheepskin slippers to keep your arthritic twinges at bay, online, when up pops an email with an offer for blueberry bushes for the same amount, and so you end up buying two new blueberry bushes and a dozen new asparagus plants.

rosesarered Mon 26-Oct-15 22:38:15

.....and you know you are getting old when you plant the sheepskin slippers in the garden and try and wear the blueberry bushes on your feet.Teehee!

rosesarered Mon 26-Oct-15 22:39:25

All this talk of sheepskin slippers, which almost everbody owns, is giving me slipper envy.

They are wonderful, but I have worn through the soles of mine. I had a winter bootee pair, and a summer ballerina pair. Both have expired this year and both have gone up hugely in price. I don't feel I can justify it any longer, but originally bought them because I wore two pairs of cheap ones out before a month was up. I went through the soles and my toes wore through!

Grandson wants a new onsie for his birthday next week. He took a fancy to a wolf suit (like Max) because it had a tail. None left in his size on M and S website so disappointed. The nearest big Mark's stone however had loads . So pleased. Very soft. Two years since he had a tiger but it's a bit small now.

Not so many onesies this year......Kindle changing to slightly rude word...always best to check.

I have never had leggings or jeggings, whatever they are. They seem very popular with Gransnetters. Are they just like tights but without feet in them ? I am a bit confused grin

suzied Tue 27-Oct-15 08:30:48

Depends where you buy them . Leggings can be a bit like thickish tights with no feet in, but you can buy really thick ones which are more like trousers, with lots of Lycra they are really comfortable and stretchy . Also jeggings which are like jeans / leggings usually have pockets on but are just pull on and again really comfortable and look good with oversize sweaters/ tunics over the top and boots. Uniqglo are my favourite as they are great quality and don't go baggy but you can buy them most places.

I think I remember gransnetters recommending opaque tights but can't find the thread. Were they John Lewis own brand? Another make? A particular type/weight? I'm 5'2" but with fairly long legs and really hate tights that creep down at the waist, droop under the crotch, go baggy or get twisted. I'd like some nice soft velvety black ones that don't do any of the above!

Lucky me. Im off to Cuba very soon. I bought 2 cotton dresses. A Windsmore one from BHS at £6.50 and another from Sainsbury's for £5.
Cheap enough for me to leave behind in Cuba.

DH bought me a beautiful downtown type hat in powder blue that I had been admiring in a pretty shop window. He presented me my surprise in an amazing box. I tried it on and looked like a flower pot man. We both said at same time, "it's going back" ha!!!!
It was such a lovely surprise.

roses I'm still here smile I am intending to make some purchases tomorrow grin

A 4 pack of pretty M&S knickers, for a friend in hospital. You can't have too many pairs of pants in hospital. This afternoon I'm off to do my volunteer stint in the charity shop, so who knows what treasures I will find that I can't live without.wink

stillhere Tue 27-Oct-15 11:08:56

cangran they are lovely and soft. I can no longer afford Wolford ones, but John Lewis and M&S do some pretty good ones for half the price. You can buy them in varying thicknesses, I think the thicker the better.

Ana Tue 27-Oct-15 11:10:45

Am I the only one who doesn't wear knickers in hospital? (When in bed, I mean...?) confused

loopylou Tue 27-Oct-15 11:31:02

Yes, definitely JL opaque tights cangran. I've been wearing the say ones for 4 winters now and apart from mending a small hole in one toe, they're going strong. I chuck them in the washing machine and tumble dryer too.

They are velvety soft, lovely!

stillhere Tue 27-Oct-15 11:39:07

I always do, Ana, ever since there was a fire alarm at the hospital shortly after the birth of my DD. We mothers were feeling very smug because we were all having to wear knickers (for pads), so feeling far warmer than most around us - it was January and in the snow!

MadGrandma Tue 27-Oct-15 12:40:03

Bought a new hot water bottle last week when we went shopping as the old one looked a bit perished around the top. And if my feet are too cold I just can't get to sleep! DH said he's fed up with me using him as the hot water bottle!! wink
Apart from that I bought a new showerproof rainmac in BHS. Our BHS will be closing in January I understand, so I always have a good look round each time I'm in there. And it had 20% off to, so I considered it a bargain.
