Am I too Old to have a piercing ?
Fancy doing something outrageous (for me), tattoos are definitely out.

tanith Mon 04-Apr-16 15:55:41

pompa I'd say if this going to be a concealed piercing? wink if so go for it. I'd be inclined to say a visible to others piercing might be a step too far but hey! if you want it why not just do what you want.

obieone Mon 04-Apr-16 15:57:58

Do you want to do a long term outrageous thing, or a short term one? They are different if you ask me.

pompa Mon 04-Apr-16 16:23:08

No, not concealed, I can only think of a couple of places that could be concealed, and they are definitely out. Left ear. Long term v short term, not thought about that one.

Well, I suppose you could just take the stud out and let the hole heal up if you decide you don't like the effect, but not really something to go into with that attitude!

I suppose you could always try a clip-on earring (do they actually sell those any more?)

Lazigirl Mon 04-Apr-16 16:27:51

Just go for it, life's short. You can always take it out if you don't like it. Why not plan one outrageous thing every month. It makes life more sparky.

I'd be saying ---- have a bit of sense.
But what do I know ??

Left ear smile if you fancy it, go for it. At least if you don't like it it's easy to take out an earring. It's at the lower end of outrageous.

2 years ago I arrived home from holiday with 3 butterflies on my shoulder - gained much respect from dgd..... however they were temporary and disappeared in two weeks.

Sorry pompa serves me right for not reading the thread title properly I missed 'ear'. I was only reading Am I too old to have a piercing? Hence me asking about 'concealed' piercings.. blush

I think you can buy 'false' pierced ear rings in places like 'Claires'. It may be an idea to try out one of them first just to see if you're brave enough to go ahead with the real thing - you're bound to get adverse remarks from people who will see it as being outlandish, so good for you if you go ahead with Cunning Plan A.

By the way, I have tattoo's, purple hair, pierced ears and wear DM boots - however I don't go hurting other people, I'm not a baby boiler and I haven't got round to playing a Uke - yetgrin

pompa Mon 04-Apr-16 17:17:20

Boheminan, you darling. I was thinking of round black studs. Looked up "false pieced earrings" and low and behold, there they were, magnetic ones in black. Not only that, I realised that I already have those exact magnets in my modelling bits and pieces. I am now sporting a silver stud for tonight's Uku meeting (the black paint on the other one won't be dry in time. Rock on.
BTW MrsP doesn't sound too impressed.
Now for the pony tail (can I get a stick on one ?)

mollie Mon 04-Apr-16 17:18:01

Go for it! A neat stud or a big bolt?

Luckygirl Mon 04-Apr-16 17:21:45

Go pompa!

boheminan Mon 04-Apr-16 17:28:10

pompa - Good for you!!! Pony tail? well, perhaps you could go for a No.1 head shave instead! grin

Ana Mon 04-Apr-16 17:38:22

You can get false ponytails, but you'd need some hair to attach it to!

I've seen them dangling from the back of baseball caps as well - you could stick one on the back of any titfter you fancy... grin

pompa Mon 04-Apr-16 17:42:40

LOL, I already sport a No 00000 haircut.

I am quite excited, realised that the magnet system will allow me to turn an engrave my own designs, just need to incorporate the magnet. I have a stock of exotic materials that I used for embellishing wood turnings. In fact I could match the wood that my ukulele is made from. In the workshop tomorrow.

suzied Mon 04-Apr-16 17:55:42

Go for it ! I have fancied a small concealed tattoo for a long time, maybe a lily flower, am I too old?

boheminan Mon 04-Apr-16 17:56:38

Whoa! steady on pompa. Carry on like this and there's a strong risk of you turning into the Cuprinol Man with dry rotgrin

pompa Mon 04-Apr-16 18:02:10

So long as I don't get woodworm grin

boheminan Mon 04-Apr-16 18:16:32

suzied what's age got to do with it? If it's what you want, it's not hurting anyone else and as you say, it'll be discreet and mean something to you - just do it!! We only have one stab at this life...

Luckygirl Mon 04-Apr-16 18:27:50

I believe that there is some sexual code implicit in which ear you have pierced, but I am not an expert. You may like to research this pompa, depending on your leanings!

f77ms Mon 04-Apr-16 18:37:30

Pompa! could this be the start of a little on line business . Designing earrings or made to purchasers design brief !!

TheMaggiejane1 Mon 04-Apr-16 18:38:00

Yes luckygirl you are right. One side means you're gay but I can't remember which side. I'm 61 and have 3 tattoos (small ones) . Got my first one about 20 years ago and I am going to have it recoloured at the end of the month. I like them and I'm not really bothered what other people think. I do keep them covered at weddings and grand occasions though!

f77ms Mon 04-Apr-16 18:38:49

I didn`t know you could get temporary tats , I may just shock my family with one ...

boheminan Mon 04-Apr-16 19:05:33

You could make a business selling bi-sexual earrings pompa, one earring that can be worn in either ear{grin]

rosesarered Mon 04-Apr-16 19:35:49

By heck Pompa you'll be buying suede shoes next and wearing flowery shirts
( what will Mrs P think?) grin
