Help!
I'm sitting on the bed with an obscenely huge heap of probably more than 35 skirts, and there's goodness knows how many teeshirts, sweaters and shirts.
I'm now retired, certainly I don't need 90% 80% of it but how do I decide what to give to the charity shop?
Do people wear skirts at home? What do I really need? I'd love to dress more smartly but instead slob around in ancient jeans and fleeces, I never wear makeup, should I make more effort?
And that's just my winter clothes.......?

Flossie, having space sounds very luxurious to me! Do you feel though that you 'have enough' of all the categories of clothing to choose from? Or is part of the joy that you have fewer choices to make? I need to get a bit radical and stop holding on to things just in case. I know that I'm unlikely to wear many of them again, but something still holds me back from getting rid of them.

Ok at the risk of sounding a total nutcase, this is the Kondo method.

When you open your wardrobe or open a drawer, does the sight of everything hanging or folded neatly, fill you with joy. Or do you shuffle through stuff choosing the least worse.

I have decided that Life is too short to wear uncomfortable ill fitting clothes that sap my self esteem. If I am relaxing at home, then I wear the things that are comfortable, if I am going out wear what makes me self confident.

The new me had a radical hair make-over, once I stopped feeling dowdy.

If you look on YouTube , she shows you how to fold your clothes to free up space. Sounds crazy when you first watch but I have converted several friends.

I threw away 45 coat hangers on my first session. I had so many clothes for gardening, so many clothes for housework. Goodnes knows why I thought needed 8 pairs of old jogging pants.

I did not stop at clothes, I Kondo''d my whole house. She says that you have to put things that are the same in the same place. I gathered up enough medicines to start a pharmacy. Six bottles of cough medicine, 5 packets of plasters pain killers and ointments, many out of date. I am too embarrassed to tell you how many rolls of sellotape and how many pairs of scissors I had around the house.

One of the best things was, that seeing the difference I made to my things, my OH finally cleared out 30 years of paper work, freeing up half of our spare bedroom.

No, I never run out of clothes to answe your question. Sorry for the essay?
