In my paper today, I saw a picture of a young woman, aged 22, proudly going bra less to show her nipple piercings on her drooping breasts. How can this be classed as attractive, I dislike piercing and tattooes anyway, they turn my stomach, but surely this can't be safe.

My DGD2 (aged 9) always says that "when she is big she will have her nose pierced and dye her (beautiful golden blonde) hair blue and pink. shock

She is very bright, way ahead of her class mates academically but from being tiny she has struck me as a non conformist type. She wears whatever she likes (think, stripey tights, luminous doc martins and a tu-tu) which upsets her older sister who is a dedicated follower of fashion.

Pierced ears only here The person who did them said I'd got the tiniest earlobes of any adult she'd ever done ..Which is why I had it done as clip- on earrings just wouldnt stay on
I wouldn't mind a a tiny tattoo in a discrete place though But DH hates the idea

I had my ears pierced in my mid 30s but about 10 years ago an earring caught in my scarf and I pulled the earring and ripped my ear badly.

Both holes have now closed up, I would like to have them done again, as even at my age I think pretty earrings don't look too bad.

Which is the best most painless method, anyone recommend best place to go?

The thing I hate to see is those enormous holes some people have in their lobes, so horrible to look at.

A young friend ended up with septicemia having had a belly bar piercing..........and from a proper, decent place too.

My grand daughters have tattoos and piercings which on beautiful young girls just looks horrid.........IMHO.

I was sitting in a cafe watching a bridal party coming out of the church opposite. There were five or six adult bridesmaids in pretty strapless dress, but two had tattoos across their backs and down their arms !!!

When I retired I took up silver jewellery making and I got my ears pierced so that i could wear the earrings I make! I was 69!

Had my ears pierced in my mid 30s as I'd always loved earrings but those with clips ended up being taken off half-way through the day as they were uncomfortable. Now at the ripe old age of 80 I very seldom go out without earrings on.

I had my ears pierced as soon as I left school at 16. I have never regretted it and wear earrings every day. It always used to be hoops but I am into pearl studs at the moment. No other piercings or tattoos though for me!

I think this is quite classy

I fell in love with a pair of ruby & diamond earrings in a local jewellers in my late 20s, in the end I had mine pierced by another local jeweller (I worked with him & his wife ran their shop, she did the piercings) So I bought my earrings & still wear them on special occasions. I do wear studs most of the time & don't feel dressed up without them

I can't bear eye brow piercings, tongue ones or lips. As for the elongated ear lobes with the large stone??? YUK.

My DD & her OH both have several tattoos, all very tasteful (not that I would ever have any)grin

Yuk to the original post. Nipple piercing, awful. Sometimes I think people do this to allegedly show their individuality but really I think it is to get attention, any attention. Looks just plain awful. Maybe something they will regret as they get older. I have my ears pierced though and I can wear lots of different ear-rings that look great. Each to their own.

I had my ears pierced in the days of hoop earrings when you had to keep them in for at least 6 weeks, turn them regualarly and treat them with TCP.

I did as I was told, then one day before the 6 weeks were up my left earlobe swelled up to the size of a tomato. It meant having it done again when things settled down.

I don't like tattoos, but would have to admit that my son in law's tattoo of my Granddaughter on his arm is rather lovely.

As for getting any personal bits pierced.... no thanks !

I hate to admit my ignorance, but how would a penis piercing would work for a man ?

albertina - I am confused too!!
