According to the Daily Mail Online, This Dress is the latest must have for fashion bloggers.
It looks to me like a nightdress my Granny might have worn.
What do you think?

loopylou Thu 15-Feb-18 10:27:22

It's so completely hideous I wouldn't even suggest a use for it as a shroud, just who do M&S think would wear it?
The last great M&S faux pas was the shocking pink dress that filled rack after rack in my local store's sale - another one that was supposedly 'flying off the shelves' ?

Rowantree Thu 15-Feb-18 10:27:58

Erghhhh, no! Salmon pink= old lady's knicker colour.

Style is very retro. Wouldn't wear it myself.

HootyMcOwlface Thu 15-Feb-18 10:28:14

Well if you do fancy one I'd hang on till the sales as there are bound to be rails left of those!

maryhoffman37 Thu 15-Feb-18 10:28:28

It's a really horrid colour.

michellehargreaves Thu 15-Feb-18 10:31:40

That is vile, saggy and shapeless - and as for the colour, words fail!
The model in the picture is 5'10" and it looks horrid one her. The lord alone knows what it would look like one anyone over a size 8. It looks like an old nightie

michellehargreaves Thu 15-Feb-18 10:33:04

*on! Bl@@dy predictive text!

moobox Thu 15-Feb-18 10:36:53

I was quite pleased to find a 70s style dress on the John Rochas rack, as it covered a multitude of sins, but that was a pretty black floral. As for this pink effort, that is size 8, and I am imagining the size 22 version, lol.

Blinko Thu 15-Feb-18 10:41:11

It's truly horrible. Who on earth do they think will be wearing it? Good grief.

I have a M&S voucher that a friend gave me for Christmas. I'm beginning to despair of finding anything to spend it on.

I wonder if I could get two of those meals for a tenner with it.

Margs Thu 15-Feb-18 10:42:06

No!No!No!

Anyone wearing that dreary article would look like they'd fallen in a horse trough of cold rice pudding.

Yeurk!

WendyBT Thu 15-Feb-18 10:42:26

I would wear it. I don't think it's that bad at all.

Oh well.

Barnet Thu 15-Feb-18 10:42:43

Springy Chicken there is a picture of a model wearing it if you scroll right by clicking on the arrow. Looks rubbish on her too. Marks & Sparks can’t get their clothing range right at all. Either too many frills and furbelows or hideous colours like khaki green or fluorescent pink.

Blinko Thu 15-Feb-18 10:44:55

I might nip in a see if I can get a top like the one JaneA found. That looks ok.

Germolene pink grin

Catlover123 Thu 15-Feb-18 10:46:51

anyone got a link as I can't find it on the DM online?

Foxygran Thu 15-Feb-18 10:47:39

Goodness me! I think it’s dreadful!

Sheilasue Thu 15-Feb-18 10:52:58

They are awful, haven’t seen anything I like in dresses in there for ages. I like some of the other clothes. Have been looking on line at next, tops are nice and trousers but dresses to young for me. Oh for the 60s when we could wear those lovely shift dresses wish they would bring them back.

Peaseblossom Thu 15-Feb-18 10:53:55

YUK! Vile. Don’t know about a “must have” dress, more like mustn’t have.

GabriellaG Thu 15-Feb-18 10:54:33

Little House On The Prairie, comes to mind.

craftynan Thu 15-Feb-18 10:54:39

The poor model, lovely though she is it doesn’t do her any favours!

curlilox Thu 15-Feb-18 10:59:04

I wouldn't even wear it as a nightie!

Mapleleaf Thu 15-Feb-18 11:01:21

It's hideous. I don't know who M and S are aiming their market at, but I can't see this appealing to any age range. They've certainly lost their way, haven't they?

Funnygran Thu 15-Feb-18 11:11:12

OMG! I am looking for a dress for the spring marriage of two lady friends. First time we've been to such a ceremony. Having seen this dress I think I'll be giving M&S a wide berth.

Maggiemaybe Thu 15-Feb-18 11:24:46

Interesting though that it is indeed flying off the shelves. It's already sold out in size 10, online and in practically all stores, with hardly any left in sizes 6 and 8. It seems not everyone agrees with the fashionistas of Gransnet. grin

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 15-Feb-18 11:25:20

Crumbs! I wonder if it's meant to be 'modest dressing'? It's foul, isn't it? How do they manage to get it so wrong, time and time and again?

Maggiemaybe Thu 15-Feb-18 11:27:04

If it's selling, they haven't got it wrong!

Maimeo Thu 15-Feb-18 11:27:37

The description “germoline pink” reminds me of a visit to a nail bar last autumn in New York. There were 6/7 younger relatives with me and we were being beautified for a family wedding. They all decided on their (very expensive) nail work very quickly whilst I took ages to choose a pink for my outfit and just wanted a quick file and paint. Needless to say I was last to be done, but, when they were dry and ready to go, I stole another look at them - I was already undecided but trying to say nothing - and exclaimed “ugh,no, they’re germoline pink, take it off!!” They nearly killed me for keeping them waiting and hadn’t a clue what I meant!!
