According to the Daily Mail Online, This Dress is the latest must have for fashion bloggers.
It looks to me like a nightdress my Granny might have worn.
What do you think?

The model is 5ft 10ins, I'm 4ft10in and rather rotund, Haha I would look divine in this dress, I could cut the bottom grill off and make a nice bonnet to match ,

grannyinmypocket Thu 15-Feb-18 11:32:35

Frill not grill

Diggingdoris Thu 15-Feb-18 11:33:57

Yes it's definitely bloomers colour. I know the styles of the 70's are coming back, but at least when Laura Ashley made them, they were in pretty floral prints. There are some floral dresses in the shops now but most of them are in dull sludgy colours which remind me of the dresses my great granny used to wear.
I'll be curious to see what the young ones are wearing this summer. I wonder if I'll see one of these m&s ones in our town.

I remember wearing something similar a long time ago. Offered to buy it for my DGD (17). Her opinion. “Those sleeves are SO last year.” “What is that colour.” “ No thanks.”

What a hideous dress but no doubt they will sell out of it if Kate M or Meghan M is seen in it!

Tudorrose Thu 15-Feb-18 11:37:36

Really awful ! I see on their website that size10 is sold out so perhaps it does appeal to younger women. Saying that my daughter who is in her 40s would hate it

harrigran Thu 15-Feb-18 11:48:11

Eurgh !!! gross. I would look like a string of sausages in that dress.

Magrithea Thu 15-Feb-18 11:54:59

Really???? It looks like a throwback to the dreadful 70's smocks and florals. Only someone stick thin would look good in this! I think M&S are having a giraffe grin

Gaggi3 Thu 15-Feb-18 11:56:19

Wide sleeves, flounced skirt, fussy waistline, overpriced- what's to like?

GabriellaG Thu 15-Feb-18 12:01:54

Can you honestly see anyone who wears a size 22, buying this monstrosity?
The dresses are world's apart. The M&S disaster is a much heavier material and has waist ruching and those horrible ends to the sleeves which collect food from your plate at mealtimes.
The previous 'hot suede skirt' was very heavy and flapped annoyingly on your legs when walking. I tried (and returned) it.
M&S should stick to food.

Ugh - and the colour!
I think that sort of peach must be the least attractive colour on earth - akes yu look like you're wearing nothing...

NannyC2 Thu 15-Feb-18 12:04:23

Lost for words!

If that's you in the photo...it looks fine. If not, then do you look anything like that?

scrabble Thu 15-Feb-18 12:07:11

I think M&S have lost the plot

BRedhead59 Thu 15-Feb-18 12:07:56

It looks a little bit like my wedding dress from 1974
I wouldn't be seen dead in it now!

NannyC2 Thu 15-Feb-18 12:13:25

just sent a comment to M&S saying how terrible it looked. Maybe a few more comments would be a good idea - not the way to entice customers, i would say!

jools1903 Thu 15-Feb-18 12:39:33

Jeez! That's like something out of the Victorian era!! Have to say I think it's vile ?

Nanny41 Thu 15-Feb-18 12:45:06

Yes the little house on the priarie inspired this terrible creation.

grandtanteJE65 Thu 15-Feb-18 12:56:32

Those who are the age now that we were in the 1970s when we wore dresses like that will probably love them both!

grannybuy Thu 15-Feb-18 12:58:57

It is awful, but I saw one that was just as bad! It is in the Autograph section - also pale pink, with ruffled sleeve. I stood open mouthed in front of it. I'd love to know how much of some of these dresses they sell.

annodomini Thu 15-Feb-18 13:14:46

Who decides what we 'must have'? It's such a silly phrase and often refers to something they need to get rid of because nobody really wants it! I can't imagine either of my GDs wearing this droopy garment - well, the younger one, at 15, is about 5ft 1in, and seems to have stopped growing. I doubt if she's likely to find anything like this in Primark even if she did want it.

Allegra22 Thu 15-Feb-18 13:22:14

That must be why Kate wore that hideous dress the other day. It was in that style and looked like she was trying to disguise herself as a pair of curtains.
That Markies dress is a cross between the gypsy dresses of the 70’s and an old flannelette nightie my great Granny wore. What a laugh!

Coolgran65 Thu 15-Feb-18 13:28:19

I wore the better version of this in the 70s together with the floppy hat etc.

Regarding the (in)famous pink dress, yes I saw rails of them in the store sale. I actually think it might have been better than this peach one.

goose1964 Thu 15-Feb-18 13:43:58

It's retro and if you are young enough and style it well why not? TBH they're not aiming this at over 30s
