I have been wearing hush sort of light weight, trousers and more or less any tops and some nice sandals for months. Also, a couple of maxi skirts. I think this has been reasonably successful. Now the season is changing..... what to wear? Picture a vertically challenged, size 14 ish person who feels the cold. Thanks folks. smile

Sounds gorgeous Panache- living up to your name indeed!

Mine favorite styles for clothing is Ethnic wear or Indian dresses.

MiniMoon Tue 11-Sept-18 09:47:40

I've just come to the conclusion that I need clothes that coordinate. I did an online colour analysis test and discovered that I suit cool colours best. Pinks, blues, shades of purple and grey/silver. I am therefore, going to buy articles in those colours. At the moment nothing I own goes with anything else?.
Today I'm wearing slim fit dark blue jeans and a navy blue fleece sweater with a high neck as I'm cold here in the frozen north.

I think I have found my style. I wear dresses mostly, in nice fabrics like cotton and linen in the summer, and wool and cord in the winter. I like Toast and Cos for dresses. I do wear jeans, with loose- ish tops- I like Cos and Whistles for tops. I don’t wear heels any more, I wear Converse and Spring court pumps and high-tops in the summer, and Pikolinos ankle boots when the weather is cooler. I spend a lot on clothes, but as my sister said, it’s one of my hobbies!

I haven’t got a style , except will never wear black or white

Squiffy Tue 11-Sept-18 10:37:59

Lots of my clothes co-ordinate with each other, they just don't seem to co-ordinate with me or how I'd like to look! sad

KatyK Tue 11-Sept-18 10:54:26

I found my style in about 1965 and lost it again about 10 years ago sad

I tend to open up the wardrobe in the morning and peer hopefully inside, in much the same way as DH looks into the fridge [several times a day] anyway, am always hoping to find something I have forgotten about to wear, something stylish [or that has come back into fashion.]
I don't think I have a style as such, I just appropriate bits and bobs of fashion that I happen to like at the time.
I don't like frills or anything fussy though.

M&S collection slight stretch chinos, sketchers, variety of tops and carries. I love Mistral - have a look at their website

DanniRae Tue 11-Sept-18 15:50:09

When it is cold I wear leggings and a long top. If the top doesn't cover my bottom I wear a contrasting long cardigan. On my feet I wear ankle boots or Ug type boots.
I hardly ever wear shoes - I go from sandals or Animal flip flops in the summer to boots when it's cold.
Because I tend to live in black leggings this year I have bought some grey ones - some berry colour ones - and some dark green ones and I can't wait to wear them smile

Just bought a soft red corduroy tunic style dress. Length, just to the knee. I said to DD that I would wear it with thick grey tights and some similar coloured ankle boots I bought last year. DD said, 'Oh, that is so much your style'. So that presumably is my style!

DanniRae Wed 12-Sept-18 08:33:06

That sounds great MOnica - where did you get the dress from, please?

travelsafar Wed 12-Sept-18 08:35:07

I have never had style, but my best friend has it and would look stylish in a blackbin bag!!!! I think you are either born with it or not.smile

PECS Wed 12-Sept-18 09:02:43

This season I will mostly be wearing 'hit & miss' ....

TwiceAsNice Wed 12-Sept-18 09:13:50

In the winter skinny coloured jeans or maxi skirt with v necked cotton tops and a cardigan if colder usually with a bright scarf , flat pumps or ankle boots.

In the summer cropped cotton or linen trousers with T shirt or vest top or sleeveless cotton or linen dress or shorts and vest top if very warm. Sandals as soon as I can get away with it as I hate socks/ tights ( have to wear those for part time work) and like my feet as bare as possible. Always wear jazzy earrings feel naked without them

Maggiemaybe Wed 12-Sept-18 09:14:25

Oh, PECS, that’s me to a T! grin

PECS Wed 12-Sept-18 09:28:14

Travelsafar when you are short, plump with disproportionate body measurements plus unruly curly hair stylish is not a word anyone would ever apply to me! I am over it now and am not uncomfortable with who I am..just that clothes manufactures never cater for women who are 3 different sizes in one body and short!

GeorgieKay Wed 12-Sept-18 10:29:10

This is a difficult time of year. Like DaniiRae, I go from sandals to boots. Jeans and boots with a longish top seem to be my winter "uniform" but I'm not ready for winter yet !!

JackyB Wed 12-Sept-18 11:35:24

To answer the OP, if I was tall and only a size 14, I'd show it off with short, waist-length tops and skinny skirts or trousers.

As a dumpy, short, size 20 (I think that's about my UK equivalent) I only wear plain colours - never prints! - and always with a long loose blouse or jacket over the top to cover spare tyres, tum and bum.

oldbatty Wed 12-Sept-18 13:23:06

Jacky.....not tall! vertically challenged ie short!!

I’m just setting out to find a new style. Have always been a classic dresser, plain and tailored. Chinos in the summer, cords in the winter with a shirt over a t shirt. Now I have to wear extra wide, extra deep lace-ups all the time. A double mastectomy means the v necks I’ve always worn no longer work and scars from a rare skin condition mean my arms need covering up. I’m 5’3, size 14 top and 12 bottom, with a stubborn stone of extra weight stuck on my midriff, long waisted and short legged. I have a couple of outfits that do smart occasions fine but all my everyday clothes look either butch or frumpy, not to say bag lady. Any advice will be gratefully received.

teabagwoman Fri 14-Sept-18 13:47:36

Oh and I forgot to say, the budget is limited.

Jane10 Fri 14-Sept-18 14:08:29

I'm glad to say that after 60 years I have found my style and it's slob! I'm very happy with it. It suits my personality and my purse. Sometimes I even get dressed!

DanniRae Fri 14-Sept-18 14:16:42

Jane10........grin

Jalima1108 Fri 14-Sept-18 16:01:05

I found a photo the other day of me with two friends, all aged 18.
We were all wearing slim denim jeans and navy striped long-sleeved Breton tops.

What was I wearing when I found the photo?
Yes, you've guessed it!
