During lockdown I have done a bit of retail shopping and find that I have put quite a few new things in the wardrobe - (not telling how much). Most are too nice to wear around the house although I do try to look Ok and dont wear lounge wear all the time. Anyone else done some clothes shopping but not worn their new things yet? Will you wear them at home?

I used Zoom for the first time last night to attend an online 'concert' from the singer's home. I put make-up on, even lipstick! and a jumper I bought online a few weeks ago that I bought for no other reason that I liked it. I sat with my i-pad at my kitcen table, but was wearing my mis-matched lounge pants on my bottom half that no-one could see! grin

Not bought anything new, except a cardie to celebrate the re-opening of the charity shops.

BUT I cleared out an attic and found a bag of summer clothes, including three new t-shirts for each of us that had been packed to go down to the boat and never got there.

Just as good as buying something new.

Yes I have bought clothes and various I need. Whilst I'm a total loungewear girl at home doing online Zoom meetings I make the effort and dress as I would to go to out.

I also put my makeup on as I would if I went out. I've ensured I keep to my usual daily and weekly routine for such as face peel, treatments etc. and have learnt to do stuff like waxing at home.

Thats some more money saved I wont be spending at the spa when it reopens. I have coloured my own hair. Not and wont cut it. My hair is my pride and joy. I'm a Leo ?

I've also bought bits of makeup and other various online

I bought a lovely new wrap dress from Boden

I wonder if we bought the same one? smile It’s the one that looks a bit like an Orla Kiely print? I can’t wait to wear it - I’m just hoping I haven’t put on too much weight blush

I received my new retail shop yesterday a pair of Jaeger white jeans , must take the label off as rather pricey but I love them, and a navy and white rugby shirt . Very nautical look . So I can’t wait to have a walk along the front .
No I wouldn’t wear them at home as I would probably slop on them..

Puzzler61 Fri 15-May-20 10:09:12

gillybob You out of all of us DESERVE a new dress or outfit with what you’ve been going through!
I wanted a new jute tote type bag so went to my beloved Seasalt website and somehow in the parcel with the jute bag (etched with drawing of Falmouth) were ?..... a linen short sleeved top and a matching circular cotton scarf.

As always I was delighted with my Seasalt buys. ??

Puzzler61 Fri 15-May-20 10:11:01

BTW I haven’t worn them yet.

Nannan2 Fri 15-May-20 10:14:56

That sort of thing happens to me Grannysue05grin

After a few weeks of track pants and tee shirts etc I decided that I would wear my clothes going out or not. It made me feel a lot better in general, it boosts self morale. I unpacked all my summer clothes and can't wait to wear all my pretty dresses.

GrammaH Fri 15-May-20 10:20:44

Sirchenjin it's called Elodie & the colours are described as " Forest, ribbons multi" so basically a green background with pink & cream ribbons - very pretty!!

Danma Fri 15-May-20 10:33:53

I bought lots of new spring and summer dresses just before lockdown. Now they won’t fit ?

Braganza Fri 15-May-20 11:32:30

I dressed-up to 'go to' an online gig in my kitchen - it wasn't even on Zoom - just on Youtube! How sad!

SirChenjin Fri 15-May-20 12:07:54

GrammaH - I have the Elodie in the navy ribbons ? They are gorgeous aren’t they!

Calender37 Fri 15-May-20 12:11:06

Agree 100% with rowanflowerO. We should wear our ‘best’ clothes anytime, to suit ourselves. Good plan psychologically too, with jewellery and favourite perfume, even if we remain in doors by reason of limited mobility. I have just returned home after surviving Covid19 - wasn’t expected to ! So I’ll be looking out some of the new clothes I haven’t worn, whilst rejoicing on being alive.

I have some lovely holiday clothes which should have been worn in Spain at Easter. They're too good to wear around the house. I'm keeping them in the hope a vaccine is found and we get away next year.

I bought quite a few new clothes, including swimwear, for our Majorcan holiday in May which didn't happen. Luckily we got the cost of the holiday refunded. I did wear one of the outfits in the front garden to celebrate VE Anniversary, when we had socially distanced drinks with our neighbours. It was a good excuse to wear a pair of Dolce and Gabbana shoes which aren't particularly comfortable, but look gorgeous. I met my daughter for the first time in ages yesterday for a walk - she looked gorgeous in some new boots and very stylish country clothing. It's such a weird time - some days I make the effort, other days, like today - I'm still in my dressing gown!

lizzypopbottle Fri 15-May-20 13:05:51

Get those new things on! There's a theory that if you don't wear new clothes within a fairly short time, you never will...

Lin663 Fri 15-May-20 13:18:13

I am wearing all the lovely clothes I had bought for my holiday (cancelled by coronavirus)...I am making an effort to look especially nice in spite of, even because of, lockdown. I feel much more positive and happy when I make a special effort with my appearance.

janeainsworth Fri 15-May-20 14:25:42

GrammaH Yesterday I resisted the temptation to buy another Bombshell dress to add to my collectionsad
But now you’ve made me think I should go back on the website and do the deedgrin

Daisyboots Fri 15-May-20 14:29:19

Even before the virus arrivdd i6had decided not to buy any more clothes, shoes and even things for the home as I had more than enough to last me.
Have lost 3 stones but nit much seems to have come off my hips judging by my trousers so hopefully all the tops I have that were a bit snug so have not been worn will now fit more comfortably.

Alexa Fri 15-May-20 14:34:14

"What is the point of keeping, good clothing at the back of the wardrobe, for it to be packed into black bags and taken to the charity shops when we die?"

Good advice from Rowanflower which one daughter in law has expressed to me but which my mother would oppose. I go with daughter in law (and Rowanflower)but it has been a struggle with my conscience.

JaneRn Fri 15-May-20 14:41:21

What a lot of happy, positive comments here! My mother used to say never go out of the house unless you are looking as good as you can, and preferably better, and never keep clothes for best. By the time you get around to wearing them they will probably be out of date. My grandmother would have added never wear slippers!
Being effectively cut off from so much of what we used to enjoy, it certainly raises your morale if you know you are looking your best, even if the only one to see you is the postman and the delivery driver bringing your latest Amazon, etc, etc parcel.

Teetime Fri 15-May-20 14:48:33

Good advice I feel a very dressy weekend coming on. smile

narrowboatnan Fri 15-May-20 16:41:29

Calendar37 my heart lifted to know that you have survived this dreadful virus. A true survivor ?

I got a bag of summer stuff out from under the bed where it had spent the winter. Sadly, several tops seem to have shrink since last year, so I shall have to buy new ones ?

ninathenana Fri 15-May-20 16:50:19

I have two new skirts I bought for our UK break at beginning of April also some new underwear none of which I've worn yet.
Yesterday was the first time I've worn any "leaving the house" clothes for weeks as I had to take DD to hosp appointment.
