No I mean being all on one team or all on the other. With no nuance. That's what's part of our problems at the moment, no nuance all baddies and goodies. I use Amazon it was the concept of being team anything that I was talking about. Still not sure if I have made myself clearer
Good point Galaxy nothing (well few things) are all bad or all good, whether mobile phones, internet shopping (Amazon or not) artisan bakers or Aldi.
I think it was simplistic to blame all the ills of the High Street on Amazon , as the rot had set in years ago (as instanced) and the bottom line for me is to make things work for me not to be their slave. Harking back to the good old days of a cosy High Street of individual shops is in any case a myth.
60 years ago my small town had a limited selection of shops, and you regularly heard the refrain”we’ll have to order that in”. So for a wider selection you got the bus to the nearest bigger town 5 miles away and for major purchases you went to Edinburgh, 40 miles away and a sick-making rattling bus journey of over an hour. And yes, there were those who “blamed” the limited selection of the local shops on the greater choice in the city. Twas ever thus. I suspect.
So as I can’t go to shops other than food shops (and even then I prefer online at the moment) I will use Amazon for convenience - similarly my car over cycling, iPad over “real” books (no more shelf space) and make do with Netflix over going to the cinema, so if I am in a “team” that only means I will subscribe to a method of shopping instead of demonising it.
