Where can I shop for clothes? Help!!

Ages since we've been to a wedding. Looked forward to shopping for an outfit. Took the bus to our local city centre - and couldn't find a thing to wear! My go to shop would have been the large Debenhams store with all the decent brands but that has closed. Walked up to where another shop used to be - that had closed. M&S and Roman Originals just had lots of sale racks and nothing that looked right for a wedding. An hour later I took the bus home. Where do you 'ladies of a certain age' shop for smart clothes please?

Are you near a John Lewis? That's where I got my outfit for my son's wedding. Or online shopping though that could be expensive if you wanted several outfits to choose from.

My go to is House of Bruar, but not sure about for weddings, many shops and catalogues are still trying to run their sales. Could you google any local shops or boutiques specialising in wedding clothes?we have one here but it depends how you dress, the dress and coat or jacket may not be you. Of course J Lewis would be good but do you have one anywhere near you now.

Lovely wedding outfits in Monsoon and reasonably priced. Fenn Wright Mason has some lovely stuff . Even Next. Plenty to look at online. If your town is anything like mine, actual shopping is pointless unless you want a coffee, undertaker or house.

I bought my last dress for a wedding in Phase Eight. Can shop online.

You could look at David Neiper and Cotswold Clothing Company online.

Phase Eight for lovely smart clothes. My favourite Mint Velvet possibly although they have more casual clothes just now.

I think I would definitely buy online.

John Lewis have a multitude of brands to choose from online and in store . You can book a free personal stylist to help too .

Have a look at 'Bombshell' online
Very clear measurement guide and a free returns policy
Their dresses are very flattering indeed. In the reviews, there are lots of pics of real women wearing their dresses
I would highly recommended

Fenn Wright Manson have a safe online at the moment. They have some beautiful occasion wear in stock, I’m quite tempted even though we have no occasions coming up!

If you're anywhere within driving distance of a Boundary Mill? They have gazillions of labels /brands from cheapy cheap cheap to designer "don't ask the price"! Other good advice from others and me ? John Lewis!

Online Peter Hahn a German Company with a huge range of styles & sizes. I have had some fabulous tops from them, not cheap but wonderful quality. Makes me wonder why German companies have styles for small or extra large ladies, we seem hopeless here sadly.

To be honest most of my clothes now come from EBay or a very nice charity shop in our nearest town. I've found some real gems there sometimes.

John Lewis, Phase Eight and some charity shops have very good condition wedding outfits, worn once.
It is sad how all the 'little dress shops 'with slightly different clothes, and assistants who really knew what suited, have disappeared.

Phase Eight. Monsoon.

My last wedding outfit was a Jumpsuit from John Lewis with contrasting jacket from John Lewis.

It's worth taking a look at the Red Cross designer and vintage selection - especially for bags and accessories:
