M & S France only seem to do 'ankle grazer' trousers and I don't like them.
French clothing tends to be expensive and overly decorated.

I mean baggy, cut off/cropped, often baggy and cut off or cropped.
Personally I think they don’t look nice even on size 8 models of 5’ 10”, like pics in an email this morning from a co. I buy from now and then.
I suppose they’re all right if you honestly don’t care what you look like, but I don’t mind admitting that I don’t want to resemble a lumpy sack of potatoes. I’m not short or even particularly fat, either, but that’s what I’d certainly look like in some of their latest offerings.
If that makes me vain, so be it!

Sadly I have horrible fat ankles. Even when I was young and slim my ankles had a tendency to puff up and look awful. If you had ankles like me, you too would only want proper full length trousers.
In the past I've had fairly wide leg linen trousers, but yes they crumple being linen. Asda of all places used to do some lovely flattering palazzo trousers, not too wide, back elasticated. They were cool and great to wear. Sadly none available this year, they are not in fashion. ggrrr. I can only hope they come back next year as mine are all a bit worn now.
I wear cropped jeggings I don’t like wide trousers at all. My pet hate at the moment is men wearing pants so skinny they look like tights .
I really like cropped trousers - but as I’m 5 foot nothing they look more like ankle grazers on my rather short legs.
I love the tapered 7/8 or ankle grazer. Great with a tunic or a dress. Also leggings with a dress, rolled up to 7/8 if necessary.
Also I’d give a full length tapered trouser a roll up of one or two hem depths. It looks casual and modern.
I've got a pair of wide legged cropped trousers, some might call them culottes. They are so comfortable and have great pockets. I love them and if I look weird I don't care.
I have noticed a few young girls in what used to be known as "loons" very fitted and tight round the hips with very wide legs. They look great.
Having lived in skinny or slim fit jeans for years I’m now finding that I feel uncomfortable in my legs when wearing anything close fitting. They feel like support tights and I can’t stand it. I’m 5’9” and weigh under 10 stone so I’m not overweight, in fact I’m on the skinny side. I’ve been trying different styles of jeans over the summer and my current favourites are boyfriend style. They are straight but roomy in the leg but still fit nicely on the bum. I also like a pair of ankle length balloon jeans and have even gone retro with a pair of proper flares, not bootcut but real wide flares. Haven’t had the courage to go out in those yet but they are very comfy and I can kid myself I’m a 70s hippie again ?
I thought it was just me. I can’t stand them and I loathe Crocs ?
I hate them too! I have a broad frame, an apple shape and fairly ok legs ( not fat thighs!) and I feel like ( as my Mum used to say ) a ship in full sail.!
if I wore broad cut off trousers. I find straight leg high rise jeans the most comfy but have fallen into the trap of an elasticated waist ( Oh! soooo comfy
with a pair of straight leg narrow leg navy trousers from M & S. - amazingly they look ok with long tops.
I think trousers that finish a few inches above the ankle are very unflattering. We used to describe them as 'half mast'. Mind you, I have skinny, bony ankles, so I keep them covered! ???
I'm going against the grain here... I have found that 7/8th/ wide trousers look great with heeled ankle boots and mean that I can wear trousers with a waist or hip length top without large thighs (not hips) spoiling the line. I think the foot wear makes a huge difference, and a longish cardigan/jacket that swishes a bit looks elegant with them too
I think 7/8ths trousers of any shape are so ugly, they are supposed to elongate the leg but I just think they look like you've got the wrong size on. Not attractive on anyone! Capri pants, i.e 3/4 length and slim legged are fine, shorts are fine but 7/8ths are an absolute no no as far as I'm concerned.
Wide baggy clothes never suited me. I've got legs like matchsticks and at 5 ft I'm not tall .I can't wear leggings but always wear straight legged trousers
I love the wide cut off styles - now I’ve learnt how to style them. Even the fitted crop style works but only with the right boots so I leave those for the colder months . I’m a curvy 5’ 6 size so I’ve had to work at it a bit to not look dumpy. I was feeling a bit fed up with how to wear them so I went into a local shop and asked the older shop assistant I’ve always thought looks amazing for help in how to look good in them - it was a revelation! You need to pay attention to balancing the lengths with the width etc - once done it really works. I particularly like them in winter when I wear flat or low heeled orthotic soled ankle boots and long socks or tights with them - practical, stylish and amazingly comfortable.
I think the thing is with most new styles you can’t just wear them as an alternative to what you’re used to - it’s a whole new look. Which is a bit of a faff but I’m enjoying my new look - can’t say my bank balance is too happy about it though but I’m never going to look as good as I do now so I’m making the most of what looks I have left!
I think they look horrible even on young slim people. They make every one look short and fat. I like straight leg trousers which are much more flattering.
I can't believe that the trend for wearing leggings without a long top seems to have returned either. They looked awful the first time round. I've never forgotten someone bending over and revealing the outline of their sanitary towel. And another woman who wore them without knickers outlining everything beneath. Ugh…....... No one dared say anything!
I am 80 and petite so not everything looks good on me. Although I never want to be uncomfortable in what I wear, I hope I never get to the point that I do not care what I look like.
Recently looking for trousers in M and S and 90% of them were labeled Ankle grazer or cropped . I eventually found some regular length at M and S online Curve range and they fit!
This must be exclusively a UK fashion, as no-one is wearing baggy short trousers either here in Denmark, or in Germany that I have seen.
I keep wondering what they are like, shame you didn't post a picture.
I have become obsessed with these I originally bought some for my daughter but then decided to try some for myself. Obviously I wouldn't wear them to go out to a restaurant in but walking the dog and pottering about, they are SO comfy and wash really well with no ironing requiring
I can wear most leg styles (although I don’t have slim legs), but the style I avoid are the ones I think they are called “paper bag” where the waist is oversized and bunched up, tied with a fabric belt and look like (IMO) a sack of potatoes.
Have tried cropped trousers-ok depending on what I wear them with and nice for the hot weather as they are cool! Not flared though and real wide leg full lengths or, heavens forbid
,palazzos are out!I bought some ‘mom’ jeans in lockdown as I thought they would be a little different but am honestly not sure about them! I am only 5’4” and so… ! My skinnies will be here forever I think!
I’d just be able to buy straight trousers. I don’t wear leggings as I don’t like them.
I haven’t bought any new trousers for a long time and I’m looking forward to fashions changing again.
Being 6' cropped trousers is nothing new, remember being young and mum adding material on the bottom so they fit on top of shoes! I don't mind cropped so long as they are high waisted and fit properly just past my calves, am used to it ?
I bought some M&S chinos that were intended to be worn as ankle-grazers, but the medium length fitted me perfectly as full length.
Amusingly I was out with friends for a meal and we were looking at the youngsters in these…..
A week later my dd gave me two pairs I would never have considered buying them, nevertheless I’ve taken to one pair but the other ?♀️ It’s got those rips in and I just can’t do it.
