We have become a nation of scruffs!

Is it just me, or does anyone else think it’s a shame that hardly anybody dresses up any more?
Hubs and I have just been to a theatre matinee - such a treat, at last! - but hardly anyone had dressed up. There was even a guy with low-slung trousers and his pants were showing.
I love to dress up, but nowadays I often feel overdressed, as everyone else is casual - or just plain scruffy!
I had hoped that, after the lockdown, there would be a backlash against the tracksuit bottom look, but I think I’ll have a long wait.

Dress up, dress down.
I doubt anyone else cares, but if either option works for you, then do it.

Funerals here must be different because almost no one wears black. You just dress smart casual, not scruffy because that would seem to be rude and lacking in respect. They tend to be a celebration of the life of the deceased with memories and photos and anecdotes. Very moving, sad but also uplifting in a way. What is terribly sad are the dreadful funerals since Covid where you can’t even hug the friends and relatives or gather in person.
I am glad the spat seems to be finished, I thought it was a pretty disgusting display personally and we can do without it.

Just a fun post on clothing. Anyone remember 'Loons'? I do. You put a pair on and then laid down on the floor to zip them up!! grin grin

What do we think about these looks? To some, they are casual, to others pretty smart?

You forgot to say:

'Model is 5' 10" and wears a size 8', Lizzie72!
(And has lovely feet)

Even though you tell us you are glad it is finished you join in, raising the whole disagreement again. Why?

It wasn't a "spat". I have every right to object to being told someone else knows better than I do how I think.

I do like people to look clean but their choice of clothes doesn’t bother me. Each to their own again.

As far as funerals are concerned, I’d rather see some colour. If someone attends, that’s what matters not what they are wearing.

MerylStreep your outfit sounds just the sort of clothes I like - smart casual but polished.

I like the look of the chap in no socks and tennis pumps. I agree with the comment that the lady in spangles looked rather over dressed.

I like to wear nice clothes even when just at home as I found that I feel much better when I do so. I don't mean all dressed up - just jeans and colourful scarves and nice shoes.

I dress plainly or classic but jeans always, scarves, good shoes and necklaces when I go out are my usual outfits. Plus coatigan/cardigan/ blazer etc to finish. Oh and I love a good handbag.

I love threads on clothes smile - I am deeply shallow in this regard.
