Trends you'll be glad to see the back of and won't miss one bit.

Boxy tops with no shape.
Oversized clothes. I work hard to try and keep my waist. No ways am I hiding it in shapeless boxy tops.
Ditto oversized clothing.
High-waisted trousers. I prefer mid rise.

Bit of a contentious one but I'm sick of seeing white trainers etc everywhere. I went for a meal the other day and every woman seemed to be wearing a dress with white trainers.
So uninspiring and if your feet are larger than a size 5, white makes them look huge

What are yours?

My feet get really uncomfortable in sandals. They get all sweaty and slippery.
I acknowledge that I am quite a sweaty person. I am very heat intolerant, so it must be my body trying to regulate its temperature.
I bloody hate Summer

Wear cotton socks with your sandals. Or get some Red or Dead sandals like these. I wear these with hiking socks.

Baggs Fri 01-Apr-22 10:14:43

And, yes, I'd wear these (and the hiking socks) with a dress. Anyone who has a problem with that is the person with the problem.

I like trainers with dresses too. There are some right miserable posts on this thread grin

Long floral dresses with trainers is a nice look and practical - one item of clothing and comfortable footwear! Unfortunately at 5'2" and a bit I'm too short to carry this off.

I'd like to see the end of women our age in strappy tops with bra straps showing, and stripy tops with an anchor on!

I'm the same with the strappy tops on women of a certain age.
I think something happens to women's upper arms as they get older.
Even the most toned arms get all doughy and soft looking and it's much classier to have a short sleeve than no sleeve.

Maybe this thread isnt for you?
Never understand why people go on threads just to pour cold water on it confused
Tis a mystery.

MawtheMerrier Fri 01-Apr-22 10:59:51

Surely they contribute to a thread to express their own opinion?
Disagreeing with OP is not the same as pouring cold water on it

MawtheMerrier Fri 01-Apr-22 11:02:09

I'd like to see the end of women our age in strappy tops with bra straps showing, and stripy tops with an anchor on!

They can be such heavy things to lug around.
Why not cut it off?

I really love the long floral dress and white trainer look - it seems so comfy!

Amber I'm not against trainers and dresses. I think it's the white trainers I have the problem with.
There are so many different coloured trainers out there. Why are people being so boring and sticking to white?
It looks like a uniform.
I do a lot of running plus i have two other outdoorsy hobbies that means I spend most of my life in trainers, but they're in fab colours. Bright blue, pink and black, black and gold. Just bought a green pair wirh gold stars (which look nicer than they sound)
So as you can see I am a fan of trainers.
Just wish people would be more adventurous wirh the styles and colours instead of the uniform of long flowy dress + white trainers + denim jacket.

Yes what's with that anchor?
Is it a logo off something?

Every thread is for JaneJ! smile
Some of the posts on here are miserable, and funny.

Perhaps Jane’s posts aren’t for you?
I don’t know why people comment on posts just to pour cold water
on them etc etc…

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 11:31:54

Snowberry you really are coming across as a self appointed style police.
Why do you ‘wish people were more adventurous’.
I bet you a pound to a penny that you aren’t a fan of adventurous sartorial choices either!

JaneJudge Fri 01-Apr-22 11:33:55

Sorry I wasn't being completely serious. But can I ask you to consider something. We are all human beings with stuff going on in our lives, some serious and some not so serious. Some of us will feel well today, some of us wont. Some of us will feel happy today, some of us wont. How you post, whether negative or positive can have an impact on someone just like the spoken word can in real life. There is absolutely no reason for being personal with one another.

Oh for gods sake stop being so miserable and lighten up ?

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 11:38:16

You just don’t get it do you?

Millie22 Fri 01-Apr-22 11:39:23

I love my white Superdry trainers. Great with dresses and jeans and skirts and everything really. It's not a uniform just a nice summery look.

You are taking things way too seriously
People are enjoying discussing different trends and trends we'd like to see the back of. And 8f that makes us seem miserable, so bloody what. Who doesn't enjoy a good moan?
This thread seems to be upsetting you.
Perhaps leave it to those who are enjoying it?
The fact this has been trending for the last few days is perhaps proof that some people ARE enjoying the thread.

You just don’t get it do you?

Sorry, that was very abrupt of me Snowberry
What I mean is;
what you don’t seem to get, is that we are the light hearted ones; whereas you seem not so cheerful, and just a tad judgmental

Blossoming Fri 01-Apr-22 11:43:05

BibbleBibbleBlop what do you mean by POW? Prisoner of war? Proof of work? Piece of wisdom?

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 11:43:48

Plank of wood?

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 11:47:24

Honestly Snowberry your thread isn’t ‘upsetting ‘ me at all.
I am actually enjoying squabbling with you.smile

And congratulations on your thread’s continuing trending status!

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 11:49:43

Thanks Baggs I’ll give that a go again.
I do try the white socks and sandals thing every so often.
With the right sandals and a tea dress you can pull off a 40’s vibe.

snowberryZ Fri 01-Apr-22 11:50:37

So, saying I don't like white trainers means I'm very judgemental.
This place is mental grin?

Thanks for making me laugh Fanny

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 11:55:50

I aim to please!

Lucca Fri 01-Apr-22 13:23:11

Snowberry your post to janejudge was rude and arrogant. She simply said there are some miserable posts on here..and there are. And jane judge and any of us come tO that, has every right to say so without you telling her not to come on the thread.

Monica made an excellent point about remembering what we wore as young people !

Esmay Fri 01-Apr-22 14:10:39

I admit that I haven't really been following this thread too closely, but it seems to me that it has become rather aggressive .

Let's be civil ,understanding and polite to each other .

I'm still reeling from the insults that I received on another thread .
