Trends you'll be glad to see the back of and won't miss one bit.

Boxy tops with no shape.
Oversized clothes. I work hard to try and keep my waist. No ways am I hiding it in shapeless boxy tops.
Ditto oversized clothing.
High-waisted trousers. I prefer mid rise.

Bit of a contentious one but I'm sick of seeing white trainers etc everywhere. I went for a meal the other day and every woman seemed to be wearing a dress with white trainers.
So uninspiring and if your feet are larger than a size 5, white makes them look huge

What are yours?

oh easy one ..my list of pet hates ..Baseball caps worn back to front ..
Jeans worn halfway down there behind ,
Black Opaque Tights ,"Yuck" about time they were gone for good !! in fact i do think my wish is coming true ..
Tight Bodycon , Stretchy Lycra Skirts ..should have been left to die in the 80's !!
Skin tight Stretch Blue Jeans ..again should have been left in the 80's
Those Long ankle length Coats ..what are they thinking !!

skin tight jeggings/leggings, nothing worse than seeing a large lady with those an a thong under them (my late partner used to say....it's like two wanes fighting under a blanket

Especially when large lady wears a cheap puffa jacket on the top half. Looks a lot like MR Blobby. Remember him?

Crocs, long talon nails! Ripped jeans, flared trousers, lip fillers! Bad hair extensions

Magnolia62 Sun 03-Apr-22 16:03:57

I loath lip fillers, ripped jeans, overdone eyebrows, tattoos, really long fake nails, especially the square ones. How on earth can you live a normal life with such long talons? I also hate the grey everything trend and black leather or fake leather furniture. Soulless. I enjoy looking at interiors of houses on Rightmove and imagining I had the money to buy any house I wanted. So many have grey, white and black in most rooms with very little colour. Very minimalistic and they do not look at all attractive or desirable to me. I love colour and texture, especially regarding fabrics.

Amber, it’s particularly those fronted adverbials that really get on my wick.

Where will it all end, I ask myself.

It’s grammatical correctness gone mad! ?

AmberSpyglass Sun 03-Apr-22 13:22:20

I’m OK with the whole pronouns thing, but frankly the sooner we get rid of adjectives the better. It’s just gone too far.

Jaibee007 Sun 03-Apr-22 12:25:37

Wokery
Pronouns ?
"Max Wall" style leggings and jeans
The 'no sock' look - my ankles get cold
Trout pouts
Long fake fingernails ?
Teeny tiny shorts with pockets hanging out ?
Pink blue or green hair

Wide necks on tops, especially large size tops. It's not even possible to alter them if you have a sewing machine.
Half-mast trousers that swing around the shin area. I wouldn't mind Capri pants that are slimmer and finish at the shin, very classy. Especially with an off-the-shoulder top like Audrey Hepburn.
Really clunky shoes/boots with floaty style dresses. What's that all about?

FannyCornforth Sat 02-Apr-22 18:13:49

The cloche hat Snowberry?
Really? Very unflattering

Yes, anchors away - why not?

Can we have more hats? I don't mean the felt ones that grandma used to wear but straw ones are great in the summer, especially the ones decorated with flowers - or how about a fedora for winter? Lovely. Let's get rid of the ubiquitous baseball cap.

Ooh yes.
I love hats. I wish they'd come back in fashion. Like in the 20s.

Esmay Fri 01-Apr-22 20:46:21

Yes agreed - jump suits -especially when you need to go to the loo !

I have some 1950s style dresses with puffy petticoats .
When I wear them people always say how nice and feminine they are.
I've thought of wearing gloves and hats too !

Susie42 Fri 01-Apr-22 19:46:02

Jump suits, I wore them the first time round.

I'd like to see the end of women our age in strappy tops with bra straps showing, and stripy tops with an anchor on!

They can be such heavy things to lug around.
Why not cut it off?

amongst all the comments, this one was lost too grin

I admit that I haven't really been following this thread too closely, but it seems to me that it has become rather aggressive .

Let's be civil ,understanding and polite to each other .

I'm still reeling from the insults that I received on another thread .

Lucca Fri 01-Apr-22 13:23:11

Snowberry your post to janejudge was rude and arrogant. She simply said there are some miserable posts on here..and there are. And jane judge and any of us come tO that, has every right to say so without you telling her not to come on the thread.

Monica made an excellent point about remembering what we wore as young people !

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 11:55:50

I aim to please!

snowberryZ Fri 01-Apr-22 11:50:37

So, saying I don't like white trainers means I'm very judgemental.
This place is mental grin?

Thanks for making me laugh Fanny

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 11:49:43

Thanks Baggs I’ll give that a go again.
I do try the white socks and sandals thing every so often.
With the right sandals and a tea dress you can pull off a 40’s vibe.

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 11:47:24

Honestly Snowberry your thread isn’t ‘upsetting ‘ me at all.
I am actually enjoying squabbling with you.smile

And congratulations on your thread’s continuing trending status!

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 11:43:48

Plank of wood?

Blossoming Fri 01-Apr-22 11:43:05

BibbleBibbleBlop what do you mean by POW? Prisoner of war? Proof of work? Piece of wisdom?

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 11:41:49

FannyCornforth

You just don’t get it do you?

Sorry, that was very abrupt of me Snowberry
What I mean is;
what you don’t seem to get, is that we are the light hearted ones; whereas you seem not so cheerful, and just a tad judgmental

snowberryZ Fri 01-Apr-22 11:40:45

FannyCornforth

Snowberry you really are coming across as a self appointed style police.
Why do you ‘wish people were more adventurous’.
I bet you a pound to a penny that you aren’t a fan of adventurous sartorial choices either!

You are taking things way too seriously
People are enjoying discussing different trends and trends we'd like to see the back of. And 8f that makes us seem miserable, so bloody what. Who doesn't enjoy a good moan?
This thread seems to be upsetting you.
Perhaps leave it to those who are enjoying it?
The fact this has been trending for the last few days is perhaps proof that some people ARE enjoying the thread.
