No more clothes shopping….clothes combining!

I am starting to shed some weight and have made the decision to try not buy any new clothes for a year, with the exception of a wedding in September.

So as of today I am combining clothes I have never put together before, todays ensemble is a £12 shirt from Penny’s with my “ magic pants” £24, they go from a 12-16 are amazingly comfortable and don’t need ironing.
The shirt was for the charity shop but I’m hanging on to it now.
I think I will see my wardrobe in a new light.

I wish you luck and success with your weight loss. You look slim in your picture! It’s a brilliant idea to “shop your wardrobe” and I’m going to try it. Please can you tell me where to buy the magic trousers? Could be perfect for me.

Liking the look Sago

Your outfit looks great, where can we find those trousers they are very flattering? I’m trying to do similar, I have wardrobes & draws packed with so many clothes that are ‘snug’ to say the least, if I could lose a bit of weight I’d have a much better choice of what to wear & wouldn’t have to keep buying yet more stuff.

OP here The magic pants I got in an independent boutique in Cheshire, they are available online through Ruby and Daisy and I think the Fuzzy Fox at Ripley too.
The darker colours tend to look better than the light, I have black and the ones in the photo.
When I tried the white on they looked cheap and nasty.

It’s really fun making myself wear different combinations and hopefully money saving?

You can get magic pants much cheaper online. I have three pairs already, bought in boutiques. However, I have just bought a grey pair on Ebay for £16,99.
Much cheaper.

I was thrilled to discover them. Iam a 16, so choose the large size, which is 16-22. They grow with you. I wore them every day this week on holiday, they were so comfortable and accomodate dthe very large lunches, we had.

Sorry about the size of the link! It is genuine, I promise.

Any idea on the leg length of the magic pants? Can’t see any mention on the link.

Sago Sat 30-Apr-22 12:03:48

I’m normally a regular and these are perfect.
They look good rolled up slightly too.
I should add they have pockets?
Beware of some of the cheaper ones, the quality does vary.

Jaxjacky Sat 30-Apr-22 12:13:33

Ive just checked out the RubyandDaisy site, I’ve got long legs, so don’t think they’ll quite be long enough, but thank you.

Great outfit Sago and great idea to look at your clothes in a different way.

When deciding whether to keep or get rid of a garment I look at it and think 'Would I buy this if I saw it in a charity shop?'

The magic pants are on sale for £20.25 at Ruby and Daisy (flash sale). Length is 29 in regular. Just bought a pair!

The power of social media!!!
Perhaps we should keep this thread for fabulous fashion finds!
I should have stated my footwear are Skechers washable memory foam slip on trainers, they were about £40 in TKMaxx.

I have several pairs of magic pants - bought from Seagrass and Willow on Etsy uk. They do small and large sizes. I’m just a 14, and the smaller ones fit well. The ones from this shop seem nice quality. Bought some online that stayed looking very creased and cheap. They’re comfortable to wear and not heavy like some jeans.

Yes Sago. All for people putting on their fashion finds.
See Joules have a sale at moment. Good clothes good bargains.

Marydoll Sat 30-Apr-22 13:25:08

The ones I bought from Ebay are exactly the same as the ones I bought in the boutique.
I roll them up and press them flat.

MawtheMerrier Sat 30-Apr-22 13:31:33

I find ignoring many of my clothes for a season or a year, then “rediscovering” them a sufficient boost to my wardrobe. They become a novelty.

Either that or it’s short term memory loss ??

harrysgran Sat 30-Apr-22 14:09:23

Great outfit you have inspired me to "wardrobe shop"I discovered magic pants a couple of months ago I have black and navy so comfortable and wash and dry quickly

These are the trousers from Ebay, not cheap looking at all. Made in Italy is a well known brand, some of whose clothes, I have actually bought in Rome.

Yes, in our town market once a week, there is a stall that sells Made in Italy clothes - cheap and cheerful. And my daughter sometimes brings back that brand from Spain

Well done for losing weight .
It's so hard to do .
How are you achieving it ?

You look slim to me !
And nice outfit, too .

Maybe magic pants are the way forward for me .

Sago Sat 30-Apr-22 17:27:20

Esmay I have been ill so it was a kick start!
I’m going to sit in the garden now with a glass of wine and no crisps, I’ve dug out a sweatshirt I’ve never really liked but by rolling up the sleeves and adding a chunky bangle it looks like a keeper now.

These are also the same ones, that the boutiques I frequent sell for at least £25! Quite a saving.
