Some years ago a lady shareholder of a certain age and size stood up at the annual meeting to complain about the lack of attractive underwear for older, larger ladies. Her speech caught the attention of the press; M &S listened, and expanded (literally) their range, to great acclaim.
Nowadays, they ignore their customers and are drive solely by balance sheets; the strategy isn't working and their clothes section is shrinking, possibly to disappear for ever.
