Curly Hair Chat šŸ‘©ā€šŸ¦±

Hello

Can we have a chat about curly hair please?

There is so much advice now about the myriad of products; routines; plopping; squishing etc etc, it’s confusing.

This morning I’ve learned about ā€˜net plopping’, which involves
diffuse drying while wearing a pair of fish nets on your bonce.

I let mine air dry, but I’m looking into a new diffusing hair dryer, but that’s confusing (and potentially bank balance crushing) too…

What things do you use with, and do to, your hair?

Has anyone had a specialist curly cut’?

Thank you 😊

Thanks SueDonim and Greensmufl. I’ve started googling hair dressers who can work with curly hair in my area - anyone in East Midlands want to add one? I’m going to check some of them out. I’ve had hairdressers who are older and know about the old perms and therefore good with curly hair but they then retire sadly for me, not them. I’ve got a medium layerd bob. I noticed that the stylist had cut into the back too much though. No one seems to able to sort my cow lick of a fringe out.

I can recommend Craig at ā€œNot just another curly hair clubā€ in Leicester. He is based at ā€œJazz hairā€ in Leicester.

Also ā€œHair magicā€ in Loughborough are very knowledgable too.

I think she was taking a break to concentrate on other stuff. She popped in recently to ask for name suggestions for her new puppy, but didn’t return with any decision.
Her posts are missed.

Hello curlies I thought I’d come back and report progress and ask for advice. I’ve been back to a hairdresser I used a few years ago but sadly after my 2nd visit to him before Xmas I’m realising why I stopped going to him a few years ago as I seem to have a short cut that does seem to fall into a shape or style - I shouldn’t have let him cut it so short!

So here I am growing it out and looking for another hairdresser who is good with curly wavy hair and ā€œgetsā€ my hair and me. While it grows out I’ve been searching on Facebook etc putting in good hairdressers / curly hair and the town. I’ve got a lis of the ones that get the most mentions and am going to visit them once the weathers a bit better. If anyone has any East Midlands recommendations that would be great.

I’m wondering if I need to be more specific about the style I want and I thought I’d ask for your advice on this: my hair is thick but fine and it’s curly/wavy/kinky - it sticks out and goes its own way. It’s fairly flat on top and curly at the sides and back - I thought I’d ask the hairdresser (when I find one) for a curly bob, keeping the top longish and may some light layering around my face. As for my fringe I’ve no idea what to do with it. What do you all think?

Hello,
Keep dry curly hair hydrated with sulfate-free products, regular trims, protective styles, and satin accessories. Minimize heat, detangle gently, and control frizz in humid conditions.

I would have absolutely loved to have natural curly hair. I have friends who spend hours straightening theirs and what they do not realise is that they look so much younger and prettier with curly hair.
