How many perfumes do you have?

Just to start a light-hearted conversation, how may fragrances are on your shelf, and do you wear them all?

I have only a few.

White Tea by Elizabeth Arden - it's my go to daily spritz, I wear it every day, even on days home.
Shiseido Zen Secret Bloom - this is my evening fragrance. My first real fragrance was the original Zen, but they stopped making it, and this is a similar but more floral version.
Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt - I have a tiny travel size sample that I toss in for travelling, but I find it fades quickly.

I think I've only ever had 2 full size bottles on the go, and switch up a travel size when I find something interesting. I will try a different daily light scent when I finish a bottle, but my evening scent will last for years.

Some women I know have a real collection of fragrances, some others only ever have one. Yours?

I wear perfume every day, even to the gym. It’s automatic shower, perfume on, get dressed.

Perfume had me hooked from my mid teens, when a friend let me use her Estee Lauder Youth Dew in the days of dancing around our handbags.

Like a lot of people here, I do like Jo Malone products, I have a tiny bit of Blackberry and Bay left, my only criticism of JM's colognes and perfumes is that they don't appear to have a lot of staying power.

Other than that at present I have Hermes, Eau des Merveilles, a favourite of the last few years, some Chanel No. 5, a constant fragrance love of mine, courtesy of Boots accrued points. I also really like Chanel No 5 body lotion. My latest newly acquired favourite from the Replica range by Maison Margiela, quaintly named "Whispers in the Library". I ordered a presentation of sample phials from Space NK so enamoured am I of these fairly new products to John Lewis perfumary, so I can line my next one up when I finish this one.

Perfumes often evoke a period of life, when I was young I wore Femme by Rochas quite a bit, sadly doesn't seem to be available in stores anymore but got some on Amazon a while back for a reasonable price to remind myself. I also loved Jolie Madame by Balmain, sadly also no longer available, only on Amazon, the last time I looked prohibitively expensive sad

Glad to know I'm not alone, love my perfume and wear it every day too!

I have several but my preferred one is Amber by L'Occitane

BlueSapphire Fri 21-Jul-23 08:47:48

Mine are all Chanel!
No. 5
Gabrielle
Coco Noir
Coco Mademoiselle
Chance Eau Tendre.

Just wondering which one to take on holiday!

I wear perfume everyday and it’s stored in a thick black box to preserve it.
My favourite’s are Tom Ford Oud Wood and Tauer L'Air Du Desert Marocain but as they are £££££ they don’t appear in the box very often. The Aesop and 4160 Tuesdays are good enough substitutes.
A couple of them were bought blind and won’t be repeats, the Jo Malone were gifts and I added the body creams as they only last 5 minutes otherwise, and sadly Timeless is no longer made, but I do have a spare!.

I’ve only worn the same one for years - Eau de Parfum by Paloma Picasso. Can’t find it in the shops here all now, have to buy online, In Paris you can buy it in gift sets. I discovered it when DH bought me one of those sampler boxes you buy at the airport. He just bought me a big bottle for my birthday.

Just 2...Acqua de Parma Sicilia and Sardegna. Day and night.

These are lovely!

Acqua di Gio by Georgia Armani
I don’t wear it every day - an trying to make it last as long as possible.
It was a gift from DH on one of his last travels for work.

Ooh NotAGran55
I see you have "Fidji"... I had loved that once - first gifted to me in the early 70s - so precious and exotic - in its tiny heavy glass bottle with ground stopper... didn't know it was still about. My memories of it are truly fabulous.

Happy days.

Juliette has a Gun, Another Oud.
Nuxe, Prodigeuse.
Clean, Reserve.
A lovely Oud my SIL had mixed for me in Dubai.

NotSpaghetti Fri 21-Jul-23 09:25:05

I noticed that Juliette has a Gun has a €25 sample (or discovery?) box with a €25 voucher against a purchase...

Greyduster

Jo Malone Green Orange and Coriander, which also fades quickly, CanadianGran but I love it. I also have currently on the go a small bottle of something my DD gave me for a Christmas stocking filler called Cool Vetiver. It smells rather like an aftershave that DH wore a lot (though she didn’t know that) and I like it. I think it was from M&S.

I’ve got some of that, a fiver or so in M&S - I do really like it (I’ve been known to wear dh’s aftershaves too - all presents that he never uses!). and the very small bottle is useful when I don’t want to take a larger one.
I dislike anything very sweet, heavy or musky.

A former favourite was Cabotine - fresh and ‘green’ but I haven’t seen it for ages - must look online.

NotAGran55 Fri 21-Jul-23 09:34:21

NotSpaghetti Fidgi is a recent ‘memory lane’ purchase, and not as wonderful as I remember.
So many on here have memories associated for me, I’m tempted to try a few more just for old times’ sake.
Blue Grass,Madame Rochas, Ysatis ….

shysal Fri 21-Jul-23 09:43:43

Just one - Elizabeth Arden Blue Grass. I have worn it since my teenage years. Tried many others since but always come back to Blue Grass. Unfortunately my nose is immune to it so I don't smell it on myself.

Chanel No.19, for many many years. It’s getting difficult to find, maybe it’s been discontinued?

I think I saw it on the ferry to France last month. I'm in search of Chanel Christalle, but if not will buy myself the No.19 when back on the ferry next month if you say its good.

Baggs Fri 21-Jul-23 10:27:50

Zero. Perfumes are banished from my house because they all make me sneeze or cough. Cleanliness and fresh air suit me fine. I don't use any products containing perfume either.

I wore Fidji on my wedding day!

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 21-Jul-23 10:35:43

I love perfume and wear it every day but I'm a bit of a tart and change regularly ( current favourite is Tom Ford Black Orchid). I have a friend who always wears the same perfume and I was once on a cross channel ferry when my daughter said" Oh, AuntyJ is here" ...of course it was just someone wearing the same fragrance.
