How many perfumes do you have?

Just to start a light-hearted conversation, how may fragrances are on your shelf, and do you wear them all?

I have only a few.

White Tea by Elizabeth Arden - it's my go to daily spritz, I wear it every day, even on days home.
Shiseido Zen Secret Bloom - this is my evening fragrance. My first real fragrance was the original Zen, but they stopped making it, and this is a similar but more floral version.
Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt - I have a tiny travel size sample that I toss in for travelling, but I find it fades quickly.

I think I've only ever had 2 full size bottles on the go, and switch up a travel size when I find something interesting. I will try a different daily light scent when I finish a bottle, but my evening scent will last for years.

Some women I know have a real collection of fragrances, some others only ever have one. Yours?

Obsession is my favourite JaxJacky. I also have Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and Gualtier Classique.

This is the Fidji I remember.😍
It felt very glamorous Witzend - think it would have been nice to wear it on your wedding day

I honestly don't remember what I chose for my wedding.
Want to say L’Air du Temps by Nina Ricci but think I had that later.

Just two as some of my favourites have been discontinued or changed. Eau de Sezanne every day and Chanel Christal which is difficult to get now when going out.

Estée Lauder beautiful. Calvin Klein eternity. Boss the scent . All bought for me from my dil choice for presents. If I was buying it would be eternity.

Perfumes are definitely a very personal thing.
MIL wears one that I can’t stand the smell of. Unfortunately she bought it for me too. Had to give it ( quietly) away.
Currently I like to use Cashmere. from Next.

Liz Earle Botanical Essence No 15, plus make up everyday, otherwise I would frighten the natives. 😳

Am I allowed to say ‘natives’ or is that a non-word now ?

NotSpaghetti Fri 21-Jul-23 11:30:57

I agree ginny - and some are fabulous on a piece of card and really not very nice on a particular skin.

I have stopped people whilst out quite a few times to comment on their perfume. At least twice it was Shalimar which I think is fabulous with the bergamot, citrus and patchouli (which I admit, I'm a sucker for). Unfortunately I tried it when out shopping and by the time I got back to my husband it had changed such a lot we both thought I'd "trodden in something". Not so good on me then- but perfect on others. 😕

One of my favourite outings - perfume shopping! Just try to remember to not put any on when I get dressed (and don't pick up the fragrant scarf from yesterday as you leave the house!

Amarige by Givenchy been my one & only for more years than I can remembersmile

GreenGinger Fri 21-Jul-23 11:52:42

Just the one Joy by Jean Patou worn for 40 + years.

Jennyluck Fri 21-Jul-23 11:56:06

I love this post 💕
So, daytime it’s Jo Malone, lime, basil and mandarin, but it’s Aldi dupe. Or ck one.
Going out it’s Marc Jacobs Daisy or Chloe.
I love to find a new perfume I like, but it doesn’t happen very often.

Used to like Carven Ma Griffe, but it’s not readily available now, if at all. For many years now, it’s Clinique Aromatics.

Daddima Fri 21-Jul-23 12:09:53

Most days I wear Agent Provocateur , with Beautiful on the go when I fancy a wee change. When the Beautiful’s done I’ll probably go for First or Aromatics Elixir. My previous ‘change’ one was Kenzo Flower.

Just one - My Way by Armani, a gift from my sister last Christmas. Its a gorgeous fragrance, and the name totally suits my ethos - although I do tend to think of the Sid Vicious version of the song rather than Frank Sinatra grin

Irismarle Fri 21-Jul-23 12:15:19

I’m another perfume addict and have dozens. It is sad when nice ones are discontinued. I used to work with a very elegant woman who used Nina Ricci’s Farouche which was lovely. When I changed jobs I thought I would use it too but it had been discontinued! Why? It was gorgeous.
A recent discovery is ‘Warmth’ from the M&S Apothecary range which is only £10 and very like the crazy expensive Le Labo Santal 33. Quite a quirky scent, but I love it.

I have worn Estee by Estée Lauder almost daily for nearly fifty years now, and I also used Mystere by Madam Rocha for evenings and special, romantic, occasions in my younger days!!! Prior to my Estee fixation, I remember using Blue Grass by Elizabeth Arden, and I was so touched when my Step son remembered this from his very early childhood days and bought me a bottle on my last trip to Australia!!! I thought it smelled awful and cannot imagine why I ever loved it so! Of course, I could not tell him, so I had to suffer wearing it whilst with him!

Eirlys Fri 21-Jul-23 12:24:09

I love perfume. Started with Evening in Paris. Went on to Blue Grass. Then came Chanel 5 (nothing like the modern 5, in my opinion).Coco Chanel. and finally Mitsouko. Love the latter and shattered to find it is now discontinued.(WHY?) Modern perfumes are very synthetic, understandably so. Still have most of the list in use daily!

LittlebrookLyn Fri 21-Jul-23 12:26:08

I have 3 that I use at the moment.

My favourite for a number of years has been Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb and it's the only perfume I use where people have asked me what it is as they have liked it so much.
I've also got Miss Dior which I like and Chanel Coco Mademosielle which I find a bit too heavy for me.

Cossy Fri 21-Jul-23 12:29:04

Three on the go currently

Chanel No 5
J’dore Dior
Joy Dior

And two others in boxes unopened from my lovely step-daughter ! I love perfume. My poor cousin cannot wear ANY perfume after 5 minutes they all start to smell like rotten eggs !! My dear Dad used to travel extensively for work abroad so my dear Mum always had a mountain of French perfume - I caught the bug grin

pen50 Fri 21-Jul-23 12:29:45

One bottle of perfume, used maybe half a dozen times a year? Chanel no 19.

I really don't like most scents. Mens' ones are better than women's, on the whole, but I got outed for wearing Eau Sauvage at a posh dinner about twenty-five years ago, and my then husband was rather cross with me, so I swapped to no 19 and have worn it ever since.

Tilly8 Fri 21-Jul-23 12:34:54

Only one Chanel Chance. Wear it every day - life’s too short to not enjoy the little treats. 😁.

TwiceAsNice Fri 21-Jul-23 12:36:45

Clinique Happy every day. Elizabeth Arden Blue Grass for more special occasions

harrigran Fri 21-Jul-23 12:45:15

About six or seven different perfumes. Evening perfume is Jo Malone, pomegranate noir. I have Sisley eau de campagne, Joy by Jean Patou, a few different Molton Brown ones, Bronze Goddess by Estee Lauder which I like for the summer. I also have an unopened bottle of Helmut Lang which I adore but has been out of production for years.

lizzypopbottle Fri 21-Jul-23 12:49:48

L'ancome Tresor is my only one. I've worn it almost daily for years so I'm 'nose blind' to it and have to be careful not to over do it, but others appreciate it, including my small grandson! I started wearing it, many years ago, after I read a magazine article in which men had been asked what they thought of various women's fragrances. Several said that Tresor made them want to hug the person wearing it and I said to myself, "I'm having some of that!"

Over the years, one man in a queue at the petrol station asked me what it was as 'he would like it for his wife'. My grandson said, "Nana always smells really nice." My karate instructor likes it! That's the sum total of male attention but I keep wearing it in the vain expectation of spontaneous hugs...

Marydoll Fri 21-Jul-23 12:56:04

Only one, Joe Malone Red Roses.

knspol Fri 21-Jul-23 13:02:05

Chanel No 5 and also Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin and their Wood Sage & Sea Salt - tend to use the LBM in summer and the Wood Sage in winter.
