Dress opinions please

The dress is lovely but as to whether it suits you, who knows!

Does it suit your size, shape, height?

I think it's really lovely . I do think you need to be medium to tall. However, all that matters is that you love it

It’s very pretty. If you are pleased with it, that’s surely all that matters. And I certainly don’t think it’s old fashioned - there are masses of longer, patterned summer dresses around at the moment.

Have you a daughter, female friend or neighbour who could see you in the dress and say whether it suits you or not? If you keep the dress, how much will it bother you that OH’s not keen on it?

It does depend on your shape.

This would be good for me because it has a high waist so that the skirt would flow over my hips. I think it might make someone who was slim hipped but full busted look a bit too heavy.

I’d ignore “busy” comment. He probably doesn’t like flowery stuff. Generally men don’t seem to.

Seventies? Maybe but what goes around comes around. I think it’s really pretty.

The 70s are "in" this year. And early 80s seem to be creeping in a bit too...
My middle daughter has just bought a "70s" style outfit for a wedding and her sister has decided to wear one of my (actual 70s) evening dresses to the same wedding.

I'm currently putting new elastic into the cuff of a blousy lace 70s "underdress" (that sits under a paisley "peasant" maxi pinafore dress) for one of them!
... now i know why i saved these from my younger days - they will have new life after all...!

Only you really know if it suits you.

With the elastic at the waist and the mock-wrap shape I think it will be an easy wear. I think "busy" is fine. 👍

I like the dress and have some similar. Get your husband to take a picture of you wearing it, it is a better way to see how you look. If you are confident it looks good then keep it.

It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks, as long as you like it and feel that it suits you that’s the main thing.
We can’t possibly know if it suits you, and our own opinion of it for ourselves is irrelevant. I think it’s a lovely style but it wouldn’t suit me.
As others have said the 70s styles are in fashion at the moment.
My husband hates big flowery patterns and calls them granny sofa dresses!

I think it’s really lovely, although if my husband didn’t like me in something, I’d take that on board but may keep it anyway if I felt it suited me!

I think it's a lovely dress.
If you like it and feel good in it then keep it.

If you really love it, wear it. If in doubt say no (a quote I try to remember when undecided over a purchase).
I too find it a bit ‘busy’ for me, but it’s your choice.

I love it. Just my style of dress and I’m not tall. There are lots similar this year and perhaps your OH hasn’t caught up with the trend.

I quite like the dress.....but I am too short for such styles. Do you intend to wear it on holiday or is it intended for general wearing at home?

As NotSpaghetti says 70s stuff is in again. Remember those dresses and skirts that had 2 or 3 layers or skirts, they’re the sort of thing!

Personally I'm not a fan of dark (black?) backgrounds. But if you like it, that's what counts.
I have sent several dresses like that back this summer because DH said they were too long!

I think it is a pretty dress. Good style and fabric. The only thing I really think detracts from the overall attractiveness is the lower panel. To my way of thinking the dress would look better with just the panel above the waist.

It reminds me of the Afghani dresses that were around in the 70's.. if you like it I'd keep it

He's right, it does look old-fashioned, but that's the trend this Summer! I don't like the black background, so I wouldn't choose that fabric, but I do like the style. Oh, apart from the tie things on the sleeves, they would drive me nuts!

I think it's lovely and the shape is a flattering one. Obviously jewellery, shoes etc will need to be simple but if you have some bright coloured shoes/ bag it would add colour.
