Just that really! DH has a new laptop which came with Internet Explorer and I use either Google or AOL.

I use Mozilla Firefox just because my son said it was better than Internet Explorer, and he knows more than I do!

Safari – because it was there. hmm

Bags Thu 11-Apr-13 07:24:55

Safari likewise.

Had to use Opera to file a tax return once though cos HMRC wouldn't accept it from Safari. I complained, big time. So they made some changes smile

I changed from Internet Explorer to Firefox about 12mths ago and have not had any more trouble with screen freezing and like Ella DS2 said it was better for some reason.

I flirted with Firefox a few years back, seduced by the numerous add ons but it seemed to cause hanging problems so I went back to IE and then found Firefox is very difficult to get rid of..a bit like a disgruntled lover.

I had Chrome and for some reason the icon is still there for it but when I open its AVG now and its so slow, and the search is terrible more American biased. Does anyone know why?

Ella46 Thu 11-Apr-13 08:42:48

I don't know why glass but I have seen quite a few complaints about Google Chrome don't ask me where grin

glassortwo Thu 11-Apr-13 08:48:04

I use Firefox most of the time, falling back on Chrome when the Gransnet blocker kicks in. #ifdesperate

glass AVG is a virus protection programme not a browser. Maybe you've got some conflict, that would slow things down. There's normally an option on any search engine for US or UK based content. I thought Chrome was terrible and dislike the way they tie it in with other programmes so you can often download and install it by accident.

Hated Chrome! Just stick to IE, and all seems to be OK.

I like the add-ons on Firefox. I've got a pleasant shade of sky blue with white blossom flowers on my address bar at the moment.Had coloured lights before.

Definitely Chrome for me. I have used the other browsers over the years and Chrome works best for me.

tanith Thu 11-Apr-13 13:00:11

I use Chrome , used to be IE but I find Chrome more user friendly for me anyway..

glassortwo Thu 11-Apr-13 13:24:35

I like chrome, I have big brother watching me... the banner at the top of the page is asking if I would like to download a new browser shock talk about wall and ears!!!!!
jingle it would have taken more than blowing up the lap top to stop me grin I would have used my phone but then you would have all thought I was Russian as the predicted text posts some rubbish. smile

I have them all.... but the one I use (and have used for over ten years) is Opera. Current version is 12.15

Not just a browser - it handles my email, and RSS feeds. Opera invented tabbed browsing, was first with mouse gestures and has features like Opera link, allowing you to have your set-up on any computer running Opera (I've just got a new machine, and having installed Opera I have my fast-dial screen, passwords and other things trough Opera Link.

absent and bags, I use Safari too. Are either of you having problems accessing Gransnet from Safari? It hasn't worked for about a week. it happens with a few other sites as well, but most work perfectly well. I can't discover any link between the ones that don't work. I've tried a few suggested cures, but no luck so far.

Hhmmm you've all got me thinking. I have always used google. I will have to investigate.
