Trouble logging in to teacher pensions.

Anyone else had this problem. I have all details clearly written down. I have logged on before but it was over a year ago so they sent me a reminder. I have tried for over an hour - said my password was wrong. I know it is not but in sheer frustration I asked for a reset. I eventually got asked the answer to a security question- where was I born. There is no way I could ever give a wrong answer to that. Then it started saying that my copying of those letters and numbers in the coloured box was wrong.,thinking I was going mad my dh checked and said it couldn’t be anything else. Then they locked me out after 4 attempts at the security question. I was born in a university town and definitely haven’t ever said anything different.

I had no trouble recently but I do use a password manager.

Oh yes! I had issues for a few years before getting my pension sorted. It was a nightmare so I know exactly where you are coming from- then they had the cheek to ask you to rate the service you had!

Sounds as if they are as bad as ever.

In the end I rang up- every single time- didn't bother with the web-site at all and even asked for written paper correspondence. The staff on the phone lines are actually really very helpful and I even got paper copies sent to me!

So that's my top tip- don't use the crappy web-site- just ring up, act a bit daft and you'll get sorted.

Handling a classroom full of teenagers was far easier than dealing with teachers pensions!

The thing is the password is so clearly written down and I used it awhile ago. There is nolittle eye icon to check whether it has been typed correctly so did this several times. Then to be told that my birth place was incorrect was daft and then it saying that the numbers I had to copy from a coloured box was wrong as well. The letters and numbers were clearly seen. I logged on over a year ago and all was well.

Thank you so much keepingquiet I will have to ring on Monday. Have no trouble with other log ons for other things. I was beginning to feel as if I was going mad. The email told me to I should log on regularly!!!

I have found the website endlessly frustrating, and I am not stupid, and seem perfectly capable of navigating other websites.
I resort to ringing, usually.

Thank you Chocolate. I suspect they want to know if I am still alive although they say I should log in regularly to confirm they have all my details correctly. However, the frustration has surely shortened my life by at least a couple of hours 🥶

It’s happened to me many times too. Drove me mad when I went back to teaching temporarily after retirement - impossible to get this across via the website! Phone is the way to go. It turned out that I was being rejected due to the apostrophe in the name of the school I attended, which I used for my security question, (a king’s name). The very helpful call handler and I managed get to the bottom of the problem together but a computer would never have sussed the issue! Human contact all the way. Good luck. 😀

Thank you Autumn. I couldn’t ring today but am hoping that the site was simply having a wonky period. May try once more but at the first sign of being told my password is incorrect I will give up and ring.

Yes! Driving me to distraction. I can't access the website, as my password has stopped working. Followed the instructions for a 'reset', but the promised email for this never arrived. Eventually saw something about difficulties with emails to certain providers. Mine was on the list. So today, I decided to phone TP. (Trying to avoid dragging this into 2025!) Now been listening to their awful music and 'Thanks for waiting....' for 35 minutes. On loudspeaker, so just letting it roll, to see how long they take to pick up...if ever. I have an on-going problem with their calculations of my pension payments and now cannot access the members' portal to check for messages. Ombudsman next.

On most sites where you need an email address and password to get in, there should be a button to click on saying something like "Forgotten your log-in details?" Click on that, enter the email address they sent the reminder to, and they should email you a temporary password or a link for you to set up a new one. Not sure if Teachers' Pensions has this facility, but I've used it several times when trying to log in to a site and got my details askew (senior moments etc).

Thank you NonGrannyMoll but that facility wasn’t available. Nothing about this site is normal.
Now an update. My daughter needs her teachers pension. She was sent a forecast before Christmas with a reference number on it. She filled in the application to receive it but as she hadn’t heard anything she rang up only to be told they hadn’t got a record of this. She tried to go online but was met with the not recognising password business. After another very long wait to speak to someone she was answered by a most unhelpful man. He said she had got a security question wrong but refused to tell her which one. He told her to write in. She asked for the address and he said “Google it”. This morning she tried again and waited and waited until their system cut her off. She tried again and once more cut off.The next time a very helpful lady answered and assured her they wouldn’t be cut off. The problem was that her address had changed and although she had informed them on her application it hadn’t been recorded. She has been sent a link to change her pin!!! It took so long to come in that without sleep over it and worn out with stress she fell asleep. She is now attempting to deal with it now. This is the last straw as after living happily with her dog for over two years the landlord wants to sell the bungalow. She needs her pension as rents have gone up and she is registered disabled. Well teachers pensions haven’t helped.

My daughter has just put the link on by directly onto teachers pensions and on Google. Both says invalid although it is operational until 8 in the morning.

Lovetopaint037 Thu 27-Feb-25 21:18:11

What other site requires a phone call before resetting anything and links sent don’t work. Nearly 30:years ago things were so much simpler and teachers pensions were organised with ease.

Read Teachers Pensions Reviews and Trust Pilot came up. Deadful. She is not alone. When you have paid into a pension for so long and it’s not cheap you expect better service than this. You certainly don’t expect to become a nervous wreck trying to get the money that is owed to you.

My daughter is still trying to get her teachers pension. She applied before Christmas and was told it wouldn’t take too long. I posted before with this problem . She filled in the application form online but when trying to find out about its progress they say they have no record of it. Couldn’t get into teachers pensions to reapply. Now endless attempts, multiple phone calls, links that don’t work, then when working the link and beginning again they want another link and again abrick wall. She is disabled now and desperate for her pension. She has a reference number and a forecast but can’t get any further. She is making herself ill over this and to make it worse her rental property is being sold and she is trying to find another having been given an 8 week notice. She downloaded something else that she was advised to do but that didn’t work either. My daughter is highly intelligent but this hasn’t made any difference. I am quite able to manage everything online but I too was stuck on teachers pensions when I tried to check something. No way was I allowed in. Mine was frustration but my daughter is now beside herself.

Hi,
Login issues can really slow things down, especially when you just need quick access to your pension info. A lot of employee platforms face similar challenges with credentials or browser compatibility. For example, Sainsbury’s staff use the MySainsburys portal mysainsburysinfo.com/ to manage HR and payroll details, and it offers detailed steps for handling login problems, password resets, and IT support contacts. It might be worth checking if your pension site has a similar structured help section or password recovery process sometimes clearing cache or confirming your registered email can solve the issue instantly.

This thread is a year old. I hope Lovetopaint has resolved it by now. 😉

Yes EVERY time I try to log on I am told my username, password, security question, pin number etc... are wrong and unrecognised. I know they aren't but in frustration ask for a reset. I then get told I have used that password before. I don't check my pension as often as I should out of frustration.
