I was hacked and in trying to get rid of all the rubbish I was being sent, I was myself told my account has been disabled and there seems no way to save it.
Part of me doesn't care at all but it was a link to some folk I can't contact any other way. Also some photos from long ago.

Has this happened to anyone on here ?
Each time I attempt to go through a retrieval, I seem to go further down a rabbit hole. The so called help site is just a robot asking me if my problem has been solved.

Perhaps I need a savvy DGC on my case?

I just woke up having almost a panic attack over it. I’m so worried that I’ll lose it on my computer as well. It’s my main way of communicating with the outside world. I can’t understand why there’s no way of actually contacting them and sorting it out. I needed it so much during lockdowns etc. I actually feel really angry with them for providing a service that people start to depend on and then just taking it away from them with no means of stopping it, especially as I don’t leave my house much these days and feel very cut off from people.

I can’t offer advice I m not computer clever enough but I know how you feel I have so many photos on fb photos …. some I have elsewhere as well but some may be unique to fb I use it a lot

I like our village fb page and enjoy being in touch with friends who live away. It does feel odd though to have so much significant stuff there

The slippery slope began years ago when I realised that BT (British Telecom) had no phone number to speak to them.
The word communication should have a non in front of it.

I’ve been able to access my page via my partners iPad so I can tell my friends that if they get a message from him it’s from me so that’s a relief. I do worry that when they say in 180 days they will shut me down completely my computer Facebook page will shut down, too. Annoyingly last week I was going to go through all my passwords and organise them but I didn’t get round to doing it. If I had done I wouldn’t be in this mess.

They shut me down but I have rejoined with a new account. It's fine. I have lost photos but I have reconnected with people I haven't really contacted for years. They get a friend request!

That’s what I did Grammareto - sad to lose important messages but, back in touch with people

Grammaretto - have been able to contact with great satisfaction BT on 0330 1234 150 in the last few days!

It won’t let me open a new account. All of the photos are stored on my computer and IPad so I haven’t lost those. I just used my daughters phone number to retrieve my password, as I’d used her phone number when I’d set up the account but it almost resulted in her losing her Facebook account, too. I may have to buy a lap top and get everything on my home computer put onto it. Or reinvent myself as someone else!

It’s horrible maybee to lose important stuff
I re-invented myself by using my own name and adding the last name of a family member

It seems to recognise me whatever I put down. Seems to think I’m hacking myself! But Dr Strangelove’ish…

MayBee 🤣😂
Sorry to laugh but sometimes you have to!
It's so ridiculous.

I'm glad you saved your photos.
I managed 2 other fb sites (I was admin) I can't access either now.
A problem for another day. Sigh.

Contacted Martin Lewis to point out how people were being locked out of Facebook with no way of getting back on. Thought I’d emphasise elderly person needing Facebook for socialising etc.

Much as I hate subscribing to anything to do with Musk I’m pretty certain that I’ll be having a knee replacement in the near future and am so upset that I won’t be able to use Facebook to keep in touch with people so wondered if Twitter would go some way to replacing it? Given that I can still access Facebook on my computer I might ask the computer company if they could transfer everything from my computer to a laptop top. Even so I’m still scared that tampering with my account on the computer will result in me being locked out of that, too. I’ve realised that I buy so much stuff via Facebook, too. And when looking up a recipe last night I was directed to Facebook which I couldn’t open.
