Back in 1964, we got married and purchased an old Victorian house. We had to have it totally re=wired immediately, as the previous owner had run what looked liked power points in each room, from the lighting circuit.
Electrician asked us how many points he should install in our tiny scullery type kitchen. We ticked off on our fingers what we would ever (as we thought then) would need. Maybe a washing machine, electric food mixed (( so wanted a Kenwood), electric kettle, (fridge and toaster were in the living/dining room which was off that kitchen.
So we agreed on four points (to give us a spare!!!
Four years ago I had a completely overhaul of the kitchen in my little flat. I asked electrician to put in there hidden points for fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave, hot water tap and additionally to have above worktop five double points. How times have changed!!!!!
