Holidays 2016

Where are you going?

Tomorrow we're off to Minehead with two grandsons aged 3 and 6, staying at Butlins where there is a big Christian themed event called Spring Harvest.

In May we're off to Norway to enjoy the Independence Day celebrations with some dear friends. The Wonderful Man is staying on for a couple of weeks after I leave to do a cycle tour. (I declined to join him. tbugrin)

In August we celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and are deciding whether to go to Greece or maybe to somewhere different this year - Croatia, or possibly Austria where we spent our honeymoon.

I only had two holidays as a child (neither was with my own family) and so I have never learned to take them for granted, I still always feel hugely excited and privileged to be going away.

Just come back from Somerset
York end of April
Dorset beginning of June
Spain - touring all the classic sites in September
Somewhere in Autumn can't make up our minds

Yes it really is important to seize the day isn't? Oh Tingaloo how touching what you're doing.
Nearly all these posts are couples. What about single people? My dear sister nursed her husband to his death nearly 11 years ago. After his death I said we must go on holiday we all need some R and R, DH was quite happy with arrangement-we left choice of place to dear sister. So first holiday was Portugal, then Lake Garda then we started on Greece, all places dear sister and her hubby hadn't been. All went well until after a few hols sister suddenly had a go at DH-he can be "bossy" he thinks he's caring, having been a teacher he just can't stop organising us. It was a difficult time kissing and making up-we KNOW it was her grief and she apologised profusely in person and by letter. By then she had made other friends in her village all in the same boat so they go on holiday together now.
I SO miss going away with her though.
So what do other single folks do?
