She might have bonded with it, but I don't think the Tina that we have leant to know would act in such a way. I get annoyed when script writers just make a person act completely out of character in order to 'liven up' the story.

I sort of saw it coming. Or I did wonder. They've got to get a story out of it. It's a weird situation. But there's no way it can be her baby really. It won't look like her at all.

It does seem morally wrong and agree out character for Tina as portrayed but guess is a risk of surrogacy not a pleasant story line izzy could have tried again

I was thinking along the same lines, j08. She would perhaps bond with it because she's carried it for the 9 months, and it would seem to be her own, though. Would the fact that she was only the host mother make her feelings any different?

Does the gene sharing alone cause bonding? I think she should have handed the baby over to Izzy and Gary at the moment of birth.

I am a Corrie fan and I think the surrogacy line has done it's job as we are all talking about it

As for bonding some one I know gave birth recently to a baby which had neither her or her husbands genes and they love the baby as much as any parents could. They had problems conceiving so it was all done by donor.

I know parents who adopt do come to love their baby. But I can't help but think it can't be quite the same. I believe genes do exert a "pull".

I missed an episode or two at the time of the fire. But I know who the nasty slimey guilty party is though.

I've watched Corrie since it began.

Particularly interesting at the moment. I would hate to have to decide who should have the baby. I can understand Tina's feelings but wonder how she can justify hanging on to it, although the Windass lot are being particularly obnoxious all of a sudden.

And yes, keep going Dev but watch your back when Karl is around.

I just hope they don't drag the story lines on for too long.

As I won't be watching for two weeks, I have used Digital Spy to tell me all the news but I won't spoil it for the rest of you.
I don't suppose soaps are any more ridiculous than the plots of most operas or Greek tragedies and I find them a darned sight easier to relate to! I can't watch Eastenders, though - at least Corrie and Emmerdale have their humorous characters.

Ana, that's what I've been thinking too. For a fireman, who would presumably be used to investigations and having to recall detail, he's being incredibly dim in not remembering. Let's hope nasty Karl gets caught out soon.

Piffle. Unlike jo8 I have experienced both situations and would point out that uninformed and patronising comments like that can be very hurtful.
Having met the birth mother of one of my daughter's, I understand how difficult it was for her. The process of pregnancy and birth is hardly a mere incidental!
