Well, I have no idea what is happening either, but I am going to keep with it, because there must at some time be a tying up of ends - well I hope so!

Iam- not sure that will work. You need to have your eyes glued to the screen and the subtitles on ( well I do)

Oh the relief I thought my brain was turning to mush and couldn't follow a storyline anymore. But saying that can I trust all you gransnetters to be 'on the ball'

I am enjoying it. Sometimes good to watch something you have to concentrate on. Lots of twists and turns .

Good point GrannyTwice - I had to pull some knitting back recently, because I'd been too busy reading the subtitles when watching The Bridge to focus on the pattern as well.

Ironing though, not as complicated as knitting, and most of the Missing is in English…. unlike the Bridge

I am enjoying it, incredibly multi layered, I find I have to get off the laptop and pay attention. Quite a complex episode last night.

I need the subtitles because I can't always hear the English clearly

I struggle with the English as well GT. There have been previous complaints on gransnet about mumbling in various drama productions. I have turned the volume up, but still found some of the dialogue hard to hear

It's good but confusing and sometimes hard to follow and a bit silly.

For example he beat up the guy, was held in a jail then nothing more was said he was back outside. Consistency is really lacking.

I am right in thinking the 'boat scene' was in her imagination aren't I as the flash backs do start to confuse a little.

Problem is the main characters irritate me. Don't care what happens to any of them.

That's an interesting comment petallus, being irritated so not caring about any of the main characters.
We've had similar discussions in our book group, whether it's necessary to like the main characters to enjoy a book. We decided it wasn't, and that's my take on The Missing. I was shocked by the levels of violence Tony has displayed.

I watched 3 episodes and then gave up, too many characters and too confusing skipping back and forwards in time.

OK. So who does that coin/medal thing belong to??

All the flashbacks were so confusing. I kept saying to DH, 'Look at her hairstyle and stop asking me!!'

Thoroughly enjoying all the twists and turns.

I did manage to keep up for once, and yes the hairstyle helps a lot last one next week so all should be revealed, possibly.. I have enjoyed it though

The first two episodes are out of time on iPlayer so I bet that's where the clue will be.

Not that I was going to trawl through the lot, you understand.

I find the changing hairstyles leave me wondering which is the wig.... very distracting when I'm trying to guess the culprit!

I am enjoying all the twists and turns and find that by really concentrating I can keep up. But then DH sits browsing on his tablet and than asks me what is going on, are we in 2006 or 2014? No, we are now in 2009....so what is happening? By the time I explain it, the story has moved on! So now, watch in silence and will fill in gaps later

I thought this was brilliant at first but have stopped watching it because it has become too long-winded and complicated. The only way I can tell whether we're back in the past or in the present is by looking at the mother's hair colour. The father looks exactly the same in all shots. As an aside, I wonder why so many TV dramas have more than one character who look so similar that it is hard to tell them apart. This is not helpful to the inattentive or sight-challenged viewer. To those who gave up because it was harrowing: it was at first, now it is merely boring.

I'm still enjoying it despite not always understanding it. I don't mean just the French bits but the older French detective mumbles, doesn't he? I often wish actors spoke more clearly - probably me getting deaf but it is annoying if you have to keep turning up the sound because they mumble. I reckon the son of the second husband is something to do with it but don't ask me what. Just seems a bit of a coincidence that he is the same age as the missing one, hmm?
