Jeremy Clarkson HIGNFY

Give me drugs and prostitues 1000x over beating up someone to a pulp (had he not been forcefully stopped in his rage) and sheer racism, hey ho.

For me it is not about 'enjoying it' or not- but about principles. He was sacked, for excellent reasons- and should not be back. What was the point of sacking him, and now getting him back. Pure hipocrisy and really bad taste. Which is why I hoped that I would not be the only one to not switch on and get the message to the Beeb. High horse? Yeah and proud of it.

I love HIGNFY no matter who presents it, or whether it is scripted or not.
And I still find Jeremy Clarkson highly watchable. If that makes me
some sort of intellectual cabbage, I don't care! I just enjoy it whatever.
All I ask of light entertainment is that it entertains me. And it does.

There was a misdemeanor-can't remember exactly what though. Don't like JC and think others have made a much better job of presenting HIGNFY than he did. The reliance on jokes about him made it less of a news show I thought. Of course I suppose it is easier when you have lots of time to write things than it is to produce something about a recent event.

Did Deayton leave or was he pushed? Wasn't there some supposed misdemeanor of which Auntie Beeb disapproved? Or am I imagining rather than remembering?

I thought this programme was never the same after Angus Deayton left, he was able to match wits with Paul Merton and Ian Hislop, some of the guest presenters have been embarrassing. I now only watch it occasionally - didn't last night.

I doubt the Beeb is bothered by the "should he/shouldn't he" debate. If he brings in viewers, job done!

Although I pine for the Angus Deayton days, I admire the way the Beeb has adapted the show over the years. Brilliant stuff, the Beeb!

A person is not the same as a public body, though it could be argued that the same standards apply I suppose.

If they are hardened criminals, I expect they do. If someone has done something wrong and been punshed for it, aren't we supposed to forgicpve them, soon, and move on, only expecting the best of them again?

But the BBC should act with at least some lines it shouldnt cross as regards guests and presenters shouldnt it.

JC blushed quite a bit, I thought. Good programme. No pussyfooting around. As a business proposition, it's easy to see why the Beeb still want to employ him.

Why do people mention whether they like or dislike presenters of programmes. I have no feeling towards any of the people on that programme except as to whether they are good entertainers. That, after all, is their role on the BBC.

HIGNFY is not a patch on the original radio 4 version The news quiz. What I don't like about moving such programs to television is that once on the tele the team members seem to start clowning about and showing off to the audience to get laughs, instead of just getting the clever lines across.

I enjoyed it. Even if it was scripted, Richard Osman delivered his jibes as if they were off the cuff.

Yes, it was a good programme - but I still don't like JC...

Noticed that Clarkson had aged tremendously since the last time he was on there. The BBC knew he would pull in a lot of viewers. He needed to get back on the horse after all the problems (sorry, can't think of another way of putting it....) He's not doing it for the money I'm sure.

Jeremy Clarkson has always done a good job of presenting HIGNIFY.

It won't put me off watching next week though. I love Paul Merton's quick wit and Ian Hislop's sarcasm way with words.

I watched it tonight and couldn't help but feel the whole thing was a set up. It was clear that Richard Osman (not Whiteley jings wrong show ) had been scripted to make the comments he made. Did you notice at the end they were "full on" probably giving the "there you go mate, that's it over with....... " Chit chat..... Pathetic

Richard Whiteley had a good go at him. He didn't get off lightly.

It is very weird that the Beeb have let him back on though.
