Is anyone watching this fast paced police drama? Set in and around the Brighton beach area.

I am loving it. Episode 4 this wednesday at 8pm (BBC). If you like this sort of thing it might be a good idea to catch up with previous 3 episodes first though. There are new cases every week but we do learn a little bit more relevant information about each character each time, so there is a story running within the story if you get what I mean.

Itis quite gritty for an 8pm slot and considering some scenes in this weeks episode I am amazed it can be shown before the 9pm watershed.

We love it too gilly and have it on series link so we don't miss any! Isn't the gay officer (whose name has gone completely!!) gorgeous?

gillybob Mon 16-Nov-15 11:08:33

Oh yes he is kittylester He is called Jake something or other.

I love DC Carl Hawkins (who is being worn out by his wife's ovulation)
and his weird partner (wasn't the last episode a turn up for the books shock) I guessed straight away he was an ex pupil when he wouldn't go into the school.

Glad its not just me who's hooked. smile

I have also been watching it. I was not too sure when watching the 1st episode but towards the end it much improved and I have enjoyed it since. I agree that it is not something one can just dip into because of what has gone before in their personal lives. That followed by the Apprentice and I am happy on Wednesday evenings.

I'd forgotten the lovely Shaun (??) Dooley gilly. I love him too!

gillybob Mon 16-Nov-15 11:49:13

Yes, he's great in everything he does isn't he kittylester?

Looking forward to 4th episode this Wednesday. I am running out of things to watch now that Downton is finished. River will be finished this week too. sad

I'm a fan too. I was a little surprised by the revelation of the female officer's private life. I can usually spot that.
No spoilers from me as I've been chastised in the past grin

I was totally turned off by the first episode It was so full of boring PC cliches.
I very much doubt if the Brighton police are that racially diverse.

I think it was the totally unsubtle way it was all presented that made me cringe. Don't get me wrong I am in favour of racial diversity and gay rights.
However I have not had a chance to see one since.

It is really good to have something to watch on a Wednesday now that Bake Off has finished. Not got their names off pat yet but enjoying it so far. Apart from the awful music that is!

Pittcity Mon 16-Nov-15 14:05:23

I am hooked too and it's my kind of music.
Sometimes a bit near the mark for 8pm though.

gillybob Mon 16-Nov-15 14:07:19

I don't know how they got away with some of last weeks episode being shown at 8pm Pittcity very close to the edge I would think.

I like the music too.

We`ve watched it from the start, love it!

ninathenana Mon 16-Nov-15 16:07:13

I watched last weeks episode, the 'near the knuckle scenes' had such an impact on me I can't remember what they might be confused

Think this series has got better and better. Really feel we are getting to know the characters now. It is the last one next week, hope they do another series.

I was saying the same thing last night Alima, I really think this deserves another series, it`s very good.

Jane10 Fri 11-Dec-15 08:04:07

Me too!

gillybob Fri 11-Dec-15 08:39:46

Caught up with this weeks episode last night. I really don't want this to end. We are getting to know all of the characters both in and out of uniform and their home lives are equally as colorful as their police work. Some excellent acting too.

I do hope you enjoy it roses. Do try and watch from the beginning if you can as we learn a little more about each character every week. smile

rosesarered Fri 11-Dec-15 11:02:50

Right ho!

petra Fri 11-Dec-15 20:40:51

Watched the first episode and couldn't decide if it was a comedy or just extremely bad writing.

Charleygirl Fri 11-Dec-15 21:08:20

petra it improved massively.

numberplease Sat 12-Dec-15 00:38:55

My daughter and I don`t want it to finish. We`re also a bit peeved, we thought Luther was a new series, now we find it`s only a 2 parter, Grrr!!

Eloethan Sat 12-Dec-15 01:03:50

I think it's really good. I like the way the characters have developed and also that the less high-powered parts of the job are shown - such as the two elderly ladies on a day trip who, a bit worse for wear, were escorted back to their coach by the police officers.

I don't know what the viewing figures are like but, if Gransnet is anything to go by, it seems to be fairly popular. I hope so because I'd like to see a return series.

Pittcity Thu 17-Dec-15 13:05:50

The last episode really brought things to a head.
I have just read that there won't be another series so there are things we never will know.

Daffodil51 Thu 17-Dec-15 13:15:42

I think it's brilliant ! All the actors are great although I do have a soft spot for Jake fingers crossed for a second series
