I watched the first series because it was compulsive viewing, but found it v disturbing. Now I'm thinking, Do I watch the next, or leave it alone? Out of interest ,does anyone else share that view.

I did wonder what Nevison had ever done to you Jalima
grin

Daryl being guilty of those hideous crimes still doesn't ring quite true with me though.

One or two other things puzzled me - surely, if Frances used her sister's references and they were followed up and she had all the checks done (the headmistress was apparently meticulous about that) someone somewhere would have realised the sister was dead? Or am I getting confused

And are Cat A prisoners allowed that many visits from all those women? They would have to go through security checks too - did no-one realise she was using her dead sister's references?

Sorry I am sick to death of Katherine. She seems to be a cross between Mother Theresa and Superman. Always there when needed (OK she could have taken the info in and met the guilty copper, but then she's the one to get the statement from the wife's lover, they meet GC as he is leaving, she jumps into a car and pursues) Always ready to talk to people, woman who has targeted her grandson, woman who shot her own son. And shouldn't she be on a charge for disobeying orders and chasing man to his death? The rest of the coppers of course just stood and watched. I think there wasn't enough in the budget for a fire so the ending had to be less catastrophic.

Sarah Lancashire has said on Twitter that there will be a third series. Plenty of scope for that.
What is Line of Duty like? Worth watching if you haven't seen the previous series?

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Mar-16 09:59:26

There is one in the pipeline called The Living and the Dead. Could be epic. Or could be crap.

merlotgran Wed 16-Mar-16 09:56:37

When's Poldark coming back? blush grin

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Mar-16 09:48:46

I'd quite to watch it all again, but I'm still catching up with Trapped. And I missed Sunday's Night Manager, so there's that to watch. So much on at the moment, and in the summer we shall probably have nothing worth watching. hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Mar-16 09:45:54

Ryan looked such a happy, carefree little lad in the final scenes. No wonder a shadow crossed his gran's face, knowing that that could change so drastically, his dad being who he is. sad

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Mar-16 09:41:45

Pittcity that made me laugh out loud. (Yes. Why didn't they?!) grin

gettingonabit - I think Darryl's personality issues (to put it simply) were explained when his mother told Catherine her son was the result of incestuous abuse by his grandfather.
Great conclusion wasn't it. Sally Wainwright is evidently writing series 3 right now.

PRINTMISS Wed 16-Mar-16 08:16:45

I enjoyed the series, and like jings have the sub-titles on all the time, but the other half said he found some of the dialogue really difficult to follow - his eyes are not good enough to catch up with the sub-titles. That apart I thought it was very engrossing and quite sad in places, so many different lives.

Pittcity Wed 16-Mar-16 08:11:42

I would like to know why the police just stood gawping when John was on the bridge. They could have at least stopped the traffic!

gettingonabit Wed 16-Mar-16 07:42:38

I was anticipating a massive twist and maybe a petrol bomb incident, but in the end I'm glad it was kind of understated. Did John die? If he did, and he certainly looked pretty dead to me, it means that none of the perpetrators will stand trial. I'm still not clear about Daryl's motive.

I'm still not convinced either about Ryan's being TLR's son. Have there been tests? The way SL looked at him in the last scene-what was she thinking, I wonder?

I grew up at Ainley Top and DP says they only ever mention Ainley Top whenever there is a crash on the M62 (every day!). Last night they mentioned the Travel Inn ( actually a Premier Inn) at Ainley Top as somewhere John and Vicky were spotted . At last another claim to fame ! smile

I actually felt sorry for the TA when she was told that Tommy Lee had a whole string of 'fiancees'. I thought SL was amazing in this last episode and the scene between her and John was so ironic and sad. So many loose ends for the next series.
Becky's grave is in the same cemetery as Sylvia Plath's.

ninathenana Wed 16-Mar-16 00:03:00

Catherine obviously knows Tommy Lee won't give up. Her expression in the last scene said it all.
Brilliant programme.

I was reading an interview with Sally Wainwright, she said that she`ll be happy to write another series, but she hasn`t been asked to yet. I hope they do ask her, the story still has more to offer.

Luckygirl Tue 15-Mar-16 23:19:00

Excellent acting and script.

pollyparrot Tue 15-Mar-16 22:36:10

Brilliant series with great acting. We really enjoyed it. The boy who plays Ryan is excellent.

Ana Tue 15-Mar-16 22:35:59

I think Frances realised in the end that she'd been used. She has to stay as she's on bail, but I doubt she'll hang around any longer than she has to.

I didn't feel at all sorry for Molesley. It's one thing to kill someone without actually going out with the intention of doing it, but to try to throw the blame by mutilating the body as he did was despicable. I was hoping he'd have to face justice.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 15-Mar-16 22:35:32

I leave the sub-titles on permanently now. I quite like reading the words.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 15-Mar-16 22:34:07

She never did petrol bomb the house. Unless I nodded off and missed it.

morethan2 Tue 15-Mar-16 22:33:58

I enjoyed it. There is a bit of muttering going on that I find hard to hear. Not that anyone's interested but I went on holiday with my dear old dad(RIP) not far from Hebden bridge. It was fab. I have a lovely little watercolour and a very lovely black and white atmospheric photograph in my living room bought in the area.

Charleygirl Tue 15-Mar-16 22:33:53

I did enjoy it tonight but as usual I needed to have the sub titles on.
Do you think that there will be another series?

POGS Tue 15-Mar-16 22:30:43

Poor old Catherine , the look said it all. Could my grandson end up like a chip off the old block like his b-----d father.

Got the murderer correct but not the molotoff cocktail. The little pip squeak is still hanging around though ain't she Ooooooo.

I actually felt a little bit sad for. ' Downton Abbey ' in the end, if you are pushed too much it just takes a moment of madness and redmist and your life is ruined.

Brilliant acting.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 15-Mar-16 22:23:43

It got a bit boring tonight. Sarah Lancashire's character is over emotional, and over dramatic. I don't think it's that fantastic. TBH.
