And away we go again!

suzied Mon 09-May-16 14:18:57

I see Rob is already influencing the witness! Telling Henry what to say about Mummy.

LullyDully Mon 09-May-16 15:22:25

I am getting fed up with the whole story finally.

merlotgran Mon 09-May-16 15:29:02

Pat and Tony, of course, won't quiz Henry, in a subtle way, as to what 'Daddy' is saying about Mummy being away for so long, therefore they won't be able to enjoy the anticipation of Ursula being up all night changing wet beds and calming a terrified Henry because he now has Hansel and Gretel to add to his nightime horrors.

I'd be extracting every little bit of info out of him I possibly could.

I know it's only Monday, but could this be the quote of the week?

Jill, "I suppose it makes a change from juggling cats" confused confused

merlotgran Mon 09-May-16 19:39:18

Definitely quote of the week, phoenix. Jill has also invented a new phrase, 'Neither use nor armanent' grin

Which would have sounded quite normal coming from Bert.

NfkDumpling Mon 09-May-16 19:55:33

I thought that was what she said too! I wasn't hearing things. I'm sane!

Gracesgran Tue 10-May-16 00:32:55

Be warned - a taste of things to come

shysal Tue 10-May-16 09:20:20

Thanks for the link Gracesgran. Ooh err! More sparks due to fly soon then! smile

merlotgran Tue 10-May-16 09:29:40

Looks like a more believable storyline than the tosh we're being fed at the moment. My guess is that Peggy will now change her will (again) cutting out Helen. Henry will benefit and Rob will be rubbing his hands. angry

More wailing from Bridge Farm, I fear.

I hope Rauiri comes out of his bedroom during the school holidays if only to say, 'No! I don't want to learn how to make silage, I'm on my X box.'

grumppa Tue 10-May-16 15:30:28

The Telegraph article doesn't even list all the Brian/Jennifer children. And if it's a very long-running story the next editor can always change the way it develops.

Gracesgran Tue 10-May-16 16:34:05

You're right about the juggling cats phoenix. Do you think it went in for a bet?

Sadly I find the current storyline very believable. I might well be curled up in a corner and rocking if this had happened to my daughter so I can forgive a little wailing. I think you must be made of stronger stuff merlotgran

merlotgran Tue 10-May-16 17:29:31

Stronger than Pat, that's for sure, Gracesgran grin

I'd eat Ursula for breakfast. Invite her in for coffee when collecting MY grandson? I should coco! Rob would have had to initiate court proceedings to get him in the first place because I wouldn't have let him out of my sight.

Tom can stop bleating about not having time to play with Henry and give Jazzer his job back. He's lucky he's not in court on an assault charge.

Peggy can stop the funny looks about Helen or she'll be ordering her shopping online in future!

The advert for someone to run the shop would have been in two weeks ago.

I would busy myself in my spare time plotting Rob's character assassination.

And 'Helen is Not Guilty - It was Self-Defence' would be emblazoned across my T shirt.

All done in the best possible tast.......of course. grin

merlotgran Tue 10-May-16 19:19:39

T Shirt for Peggy grin

Five signs that you're being emotionally abused

This article was highlighted on The Archers Facebook page about a trending Twitter account #maybehedoesn'thityou and I found this particular paragraph - when thinking of Helen - quite revealing.

"There is a difference between people who are physically and emotionally abused," Perl says. "Abusers often suffer with unmanageable anxiety, and so look for partner who can compensate for this inadequacy. The emotionally abused are generally secure and intelligent people. They aren't meek. However they are generally co-operative, facilitative and can be natural people pleasers."

I'm still undecided as to Jill's juggling cats comment.

Did she mean cat's than can actually do juggling, (note to Digby & Sprout, up your game guys, the sitting on command is no longer enough) or someone juggling with cats? confused

merlotgran Wed 11-May-16 18:19:08

I wondered that as well, phoenix.

Given a choice I think I'd rather try and train Jazz to juggle whatever she brings in the back door and not just chase it round the kitchen rather than attempt to juggle her myself. I'd need another cat to make a proper show and as DD's is a bit feisty, I'll pass on that one. shock

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 11-May-16 18:22:05

I don't listen these days. Who needs to with merlot's posts? grin Keep it up merlot!

merlotgran Wed 11-May-16 19:24:47

For one heart-stopping moment I thought Helen was going to recount the night Rob got her drunk and raped her but instead we were treated to 'Toffeegate'

What the hell was the point in all that? angry

Iam64 Wed 11-May-16 20:28:35

Erm, don't want to make you even crosser merlotgran but wasn't the point to clarify that Helen is still seeing herself as Rob did, i.e. weak as she repeatedly said. I do hope she can keep her baby with her and like everybody else, I wish she'd start spelling out exactly why Rob shouldn't be given custardy (don't larf) of the baby.

shysal Wed 11-May-16 20:33:43

I liked the suggestion in the Ambridge Observer that Helen's supporters should sing 'Tie a Custard Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree' grin

merlotgran Wed 11-May-16 20:45:40

I know what you mean, Iam but we only get a few minutes of HelenTime whenever she is in an episode and we all know she is weak. We really don't need an episode re-inforcing all that especially as Ana, if she is as shit-hot as she's cracked up to be, would have already sussed Helen's low self-esteem.

Lazy scriptwriting.

merlotgran Wed 11-May-16 20:55:24

Shouldn't there be a psychiatric report BTW?

Gracesgran Wed 11-May-16 20:58:43

I agree with you Iam and, like everyone else, I wish we could get to the point where she can explain what happened but many women never do get to that point.

We are still going much faster than we would be in real life I feel. In my opinion, another of the reasons why we had the memory of school and then the chat with Anna (other than to raise our blood pressure grin) is to show Helen is actually beginning to think - everything was switched off before but she is slowly looking into what has happened to her. She will get there but I think we will be kept on edge (it's a drama smile) all the time. Be warned too that, from what I understand, it is likely that she will go backwards and forwards in her hold on real reality and Rob's reality will keep coming back for some time. Also some things, obviously seeing Rob in court but something said to her or her not achieving a small goal, could set her back and mean she has to work forward again. Brain washing is wicked - it breaks people - that's why we ban it and that is what Rob has done.

Luckygirl Wed 11-May-16 21:52:33

I have listened to the Archers for decades and have now become bored. They are going to make this run and run and milk it for all it is worth and enough is enough!

Gracesgran Wed 11-May-16 22:20:57

I don't think "they" have any choice *Luckygirl". They could hardly book the trial in for next week when that is not what would happen.
