"Alas poor Scruff, I knew him well, who could forget that pungent smell?"

Iam64 Fri 12-Aug-16 20:18:55

LullyD - I was amused by Jess and Jews. My iPad does similar dreadful things, usually after I've pressed send.

I don't think Jess can be subpoena'd but I may be wrong. I'm not convinced that would help but I'm sure something will happen to persuade Jess to give evidence. I understand her reluctance. Not only has Rob reminded her he knows where she lives, in addition he'll know so much about her personal life that he can give to his barrister, to use to undermine any evidence she does give.

LullyDully Fri 12-Aug-16 19:58:20

Anna is very annoying. ( Sorry for kindle turning Jess to Jews...bloody machine has a mind of its own.)

Nandalot Fri 12-Aug-16 19:46:10

Tele dramas!

Nandalot Fri 12-Aug-16 19:45:47

Have I watched too many tale dramas but can't Anna subpoena Jess to give evidence?

merlotgran Fri 12-Aug-16 19:34:00

Anna gets a wet kipper for bulldozing her way through the interview and Jess gets an even bigger one for trying to make us believe she won't turn up at the eleventh hour and give evidence.

What a frustrating episode. I don't give a damn about Anna's private life.

I think I'll give Carol a taste of the wet kipper as well because she's getting on my nerves!

LullyDully Fri 12-Aug-16 19:28:35

So he has been to Jess just to re inoculate Jews.with his control. Hisssssssss.Boooooo.

phoenix Fri 12-Aug-16 18:10:10

Agree on all counts, Lully

LullyDully Fri 12-Aug-16 18:07:18

Henry is going to need psychotherapy for life at this rate. No-one should be so cruel as to indoctrinate a boy against his mother and grandparents. I do hate him, and I know it's a drama.

phoenix Fri 12-Aug-16 17:45:26

Don't know where that "Hi" thing came from?????confused

phoenix Fri 12-Aug-16 17:44:31

I deliberately won't pick up the Radio Times until tomorrow, but when I do, the first page I will look at is the Ambridge Diary bit!

I (probably like most others) have got my fingers crossed that Henry lets something slip during the chat with the SS person. Hi

Gracesgran Fri 12-Aug-16 17:13:59

I can't imagine Rob killing Jess either Lazigirl but I feel something had happened as she did not seem to want to move back in with him when her mother died. Oh please let this mean she tells Anna ...

From what Iam has explained I am sure the people asking the questions will be well trained. Rob is going to hate not being able to be with Henry grin

merlotgran Fri 12-Aug-16 16:23:12

I wonder what will happen if Henry is asked a question Rob hasn't primed him to answer. He rarely gets a chance to think for himself so could be interesting.

Lazigirl Fri 12-Aug-16 13:59:20

I hope when Henry is interviewed he says "daddy told me to say....".

Rob clearly thinks he still has power to intimidate and exert some control over Jess, and it just shows how pervasive and lasting coercive abuse of this kind can be.

I can't imagine him killing her tho. Too much melodrama - but who knows?

Gracesgran Fri 12-Aug-16 10:38:46

The Archers: will Rob KILL Jess. Listeners in turmoil over villain's 'creepy' threats

The Express on tenterhooks apparently.

Gracesgran Fri 12-Aug-16 07:05:41

I'm afraid I think his intention was to frighten her nelllie which gives more hint than ever that she has reason to be afraid. We need her to tell Anna what that is. I don't think he would care what sort of father she thinks he is; Henry is just a tool as far as he is concerned. It is good to hear his concern about not having control of Henry in the interview.

Nelliemoser Thu 11-Aug-16 23:18:46

I think Rob went to see Jess with Henry to flaunt to Jess about what a sucessful father he was.
I am hoping however that might just be the kick up the backside Jess needs to be a witness against him.

Iam64 Thu 11-Aug-16 22:12:09

Yes ! I keep telling myself total accuracy of the two courts doesn't matter, the Anna representing Helen enables the writers to simplify a complex situation. Poor young Henry though, what a tough time he's having.

Gracesgran Thu 11-Aug-16 21:28:12

It does feel as if they are cutting corners with this Iam. I think the portrayal of 'Anna' has been the weakest characterisation for a long time. In a way it is playing with the characters in much the same way as Nigel's death. Overall I feel they have done well. Rob has been drawn in a very believable way and Helen's character shows how easy it is to believe the worst of women in her situation but the legal team feels very thin and poorly drawn. Let's hope they redeem themselvessmile

Lazigirl Thu 11-Aug-16 21:18:08

? Nearest I could find *phoenix".

Iam64 Thu 11-Aug-16 21:11:54

merlotgran - yes, Rob's aggressive behaviour to the hunt sab would be relevant in the custody battle.
Anna's comments to Shula about the criminal case were probably accurate but the family court situation is different. Balance of probabilities not beyond reasonable doubt.
Sorry, I know I'm ranting again but I do wish this aspect of the situation was accurately represented. Helen would have a solicitor acting under her instructions in the family case, that solicitor might instruct a barrister but may conduct the case themselves. In the criminal case, she'd have a solicitor and almost certainly a barrister. They'd be different people, with different areas of expertise.

phoenix Thu 11-Aug-16 21:11:08

Sometimes I really wish we had a "raspberry" emoticon!grin

phoenix Thu 11-Aug-16 21:06:51

Me too Lazigirl !

Gracesgran Thu 11-Aug-16 21:05:21

It did seem doubtful whether it would have been much help anyway though Luckygirl. I thought it interesting that Anna made it clear that the prosecution has to prove it wasn't self-defence - innocent until proven guilt I suppose. It is very much down to not allowing Rob to by painted as the "hero of the floods" etc.

I also noticed that Anna was asking Tom why Jess left Rob. Presumably she doesn't know Helen was having an affair with him. I wouldn't have thought that would go so well in court and sadly it will be easy for the prosecution to blame Helen.sad

Lazigirl Thu 11-Aug-16 20:40:48

I really love TA and enjoy this thread and everyone's views, serious or playful, as a light relief to everyday life, please don't fall out or it will metamorph into political thread!

All the scheming by Rob will surely backfire spectacularly in time for the trial, I hope.......

merlotgran Thu 11-Aug-16 20:23:51

If Shula goes to the police won't they interview Rob again?

Surely that would help Pat and Tony in their custody battle?
