It isn't something I usually comment on but

Leslie Joseph is 71 in two weeks time!!!!!!!

Jalima Thu 13-Oct-16 15:56:15

I wouldn't travel on OGM's bus
They are very handy though, my sisterIL informs me, practically door to door
Much lifting of bosoms... grin
reminds me of Cissie and Ada (Les Dawson and Roy Barraclough)

TerriBull Sat 15-Oct-16 20:25:21

It seems Ore is the one to watch he was fantastic tonight. Danny also, but I know he is not perceived as an absolute beginner. Other than those two Lesley is very good considering her age. Ed was truly appalling, but throws himself into his dance with such gusto, hope he stays for a while.

Wobblybits Sat 15-Oct-16 20:30:31

What great performances tonight.
I think this may be the end for Ed, but the viewers are a weird lot, so who knows.

Jalima Sat 15-Oct-16 20:33:06

My money has always been on Ore (even on the 'handsome man' thread grin)

Well done Lesley! So impressive - she is 71 this week, got up at 5am to film from 8am to 5pm then practised her dance for 3 hours.
She deserves a medal. A pity they don't have 'This Week's Star Dancer' as in the Bakeoff!

whitewave Sat 15-Oct-16 20:34:25

What a role model!! 71! Makes you proud to be oldgrin

DanniRae Sat 15-Oct-16 20:34:31

That jive was amazing - Well done Ore and Joanne! Great programme tonight!!

Charleygirl Sat 15-Oct-16 20:35:30

I loved Ore's performance and in a strange way Ed's also. He does try very hard.

I cannot warm to Danny for two reasons- I do not have a clue who he is and his obvious previous dance training.

I am not sure who may leave this week, perhaps Naga?

Jalima Sat 15-Oct-16 20:42:13

Naga shouldn't have to leave,, it really should be Ed.
If it comes to a dancep-off, the judges will choose Naga because Ed tries but tonight's performance was terrible, although entertaining (for the wrong reasons).

It started me thinking though. Are politicians really actors at heart? They do have to perform.

Wobblybits Sat 15-Oct-16 20:45:00

Loved the Rumba, Mrs P and I love to dance the rumba, not quite as sexy as theirs but we do try (or used to sad) Mrs P reckoned she could get her leg that high, I await becoming fit again.

Charleygirl Sat 15-Oct-16 20:57:44

Wobblybits high kicking is not great for a hip replacement! Leave the high kicking to Mrs.P provided she has not had a hip replacement. With luck once you have your other hip replaced the pair of you will be dancing the light fantastic in a year after surgery.

NotTooOld Sat 15-Oct-16 21:54:26

I though Ore was brilliant but I didn't actually like the dance, too frenetic, much preferred Jay's jive last year. Have you noticed there are three Clifton pro dancers? There's Kevin, his sister Joanna (partners Ore) and Karen (Kevin's wife) who was partnering Will Young until he dropped out. Talk about keeping it in the family.

Why has Darcey become so excitable? She used to give very technical feedback with detailed advice about improving but suddenly she has become more like Bruno, standing and waving her arms about.

cornergran Sat 15-Oct-16 22:16:57

Sadly I think it's time for Ed to go. Suspect Naga in the dance off, not sure about the other competitor. Ed could be getting the humour vote. Ore was excellent, but the overall standard is so good for the stage of the competition it could be anyone heading for first place. I'm enjoying this series although I had wondered if the concept had run its course.

Deedaa Sat 15-Oct-16 22:51:16

I don't know if it's just me but Craig said just what I was thinking about Daisy's Rumba. I had thought that there was something wrong about her arm and I was missing the emotional connection between the pair of them.

ninathenana Sun 16-Oct-16 00:26:18

I often find myself agreeing with Craig shock
I thought the emotional connection was missing in Daisy' s Rumba too Deedaa

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 16-Oct-16 01:49:03

I'm looking forward to the show more and more every week because I want to see Ore, Danny, Claudia, Louise and Lesley dance. What a cracking show tonight. Ore's Jive was fantastic and deserved a 10 - I would have given Danny a 10 for his Quick Step too.

I think Ed went wrong near the start and couldn't get back into the choreography, so he made up quite a bit of the routine in the first half. It was dreadful to watch, which is a shame because he'd been doing well until this week. I'm glad the judges told Judge Rinder he should forget about the comedy and get back to dancing because he can dance. I take my hat off to Lesley. What a revelation she's been. Louise had the best dress this week. wink

BlueBelle Sun 16-Oct-16 06:21:34

I agree about Judge Rinder Wilmer I think he's better than they are giving him the chance to show
Sorry as much as you all like him Ed Balls should go he is the weakest link
I truely worry about Lesley whilst I fully admire her she has more energy than most 30 year olds but she looks so ill for 5 minutes after she's finished gasping for breath and looking like she could faint I hope she's not over doing it
I see Anastasia is still getting more 'gentle' dances
I think the dance off may be Naga and Ed and Ed may get the sympathy vote

Charleygirl Sun 16-Oct-16 10:14:07

I would love to see Anastasia out of the door, mainly because of her unladylike behaviour previously. Naga I imagine has a lot of friend on the BBC to vote for her so I do not know who will be in the dance off although it should be her and Ed. We may receive a nasty shock and it is 2 couples mid board.

Wobblybits Sun 16-Oct-16 11:33:55

Lack of emotional connection in Rumba, if there had been much more they would have needed a condom. But as we love the Rumba. we are biased, would love to be that emotional when we dance (atm, would just love to dance)

I would like to see the back of Anastasia, but she really danced quite well, Ed was by far the worst, but I want him to get to Blackpool, he represents us dad dancers.

Jane10 Sun 16-Oct-16 11:57:54

Sorry to say but I'm just not enjoying this years offering. With Tameka and Will gone the only ones I like are Judge, Ed and Anton. I can't even be bothered to watch the others dance. James Jordan was tweeting that Ore has much more previous dance experience than he's admitting to...

Jalima Sun 16-Oct-16 12:20:09

Re Ore and previous dance training:

People are using James and Ola as their source - which is a bit eyebrow raising considering how bitter they both are towards the show and will seemingly do anything to stir controversy and keep themselves in the limelight
(Digital Spy)

Ore studied Sports Science at University and is a Sports presenter. He used to present Newsround.
If he has previous dance experience it would have been as a hobby, unlike some of the other contestants. If he had lessons, so could anyone when they know they are going to be on Strictly (even Ed could have done for all we know!).
Anyone who has been in the singing/stage show side of show business will have had some dance training, so Danny, Lesley, Will, Anastacia, Daisy, even Melvin all have previous experience (in fact Melvin taught dance, but it didn't do him any good).

Jane10 Sun 16-Oct-16 12:32:28

So in my view none of them should be in the show! I'm quite sure that James Jordan is bitter about it all but he'll know what's what in the world of dance.

petra Sun 16-Oct-16 12:40:46

I think Ed went wrong near the start
I think Ed went wrong when he agreed to be on the show.

Jalima Sun 16-Oct-16 12:49:02

petra grin

what next - the jungle?
(which is not a jungle, it's a patch of Australian sub-tropical rainforest not that far from a luxury resort.)

Wobblybits Sun 16-Oct-16 13:20:04

I'm just happy to enjoy the show regardless of what the contestants may or may not have done previously. Too much information can ruin the enjoyment.
There is some great dancing, if I could manage half the standard I would be over the moon.

annodomini Sun 16-Oct-16 14:07:00

If Ed is not eliminated this week, it will be grossly unfair on the dancer who is dismissed. What he did was nothing like a passo; the only worse one I can remember was by Tim Wonnacott, two (?) years ago.
