It isn't something I usually comment on but

Leslie Joseph is 71 in two weeks time!!!!!!!

DaphneBroon Sun 02-Oct-16 18:43:27

I really like Claudia's zany sense of humour. Unlike Tess (who is nice enough) I think that fringe hides a degree of intelligence and natural articulacy.
What are the odds on who will go tonight?

Jalima Sun 02-Oct-16 18:44:28

are we talking about the same Claudia?

I meant Claudia the dancing contestant .....

Gagagran Sun 02-Oct-16 18:45:59

I think you got you may have got the wrong Claudia Jalima!

Jalima Sun 02-Oct-16 18:48:16

I haven't got the wrong Claudia, it's all you others!!

I thought the contestants were being invited to the dinner party, not the hired help.

Well, they could come and cook and serve the meal and pour the wine

Deedaa Sun 02-Oct-16 18:51:20

Aren't we getting the Claudias mixed up here? it's Winkleman who peers through her fringe like a woodland animal and Fragapane who does the floor routine!

Used to love hating Ed Balls but now he seems a really nice guy. He was great fun on the Bake Off and Yvette looks really supportive

Jane10 Sun 02-Oct-16 18:55:39

Its Claudia Winkleman I wanted to ask to that dinner party with Ed Balls and Judge Rinder and Tameka. Can't be bothered with that tiny gymnast.

sarahellenwhitney Sun 02-Oct-16 19:20:53

I think Lesley Joseph is one of those people who has facially been looking older than they chronologically are for a long time.In saying that I think she wiil still look 71 when she is 91.Her energy is remarkable.

Pittcity Sun 02-Oct-16 19:27:58

I was wrong re. Anastacia, it is a scar tissue tear under her arm from her mastectomy. That won't heal easily, will it?

Aslemma Sun 02-Oct-16 19:49:06

I am 80 and people often tell me I don't look it. My answer is always "How are people my age supposed to look?" I know many quite a bit younger who have looked old for some time, others who look considerably younger than me and plenty very similar to me. I've been a 'suicide blonde' for many years (dyed by her own hand)and have shrunk a few inches. I was never a beauty but my looks didn't turn the milk sour and I can still scrub up well. I agree that LJ's hair doesn't do her any favours but that is her choice and good luck to her.

Anniebach Sun 02-Oct-16 19:58:16

If Anastacia wasn't well enough to dance in the dance off because of scar tissue not healed surely she should drop out?

merlotgran Sun 02-Oct-16 20:08:55

We thought that as well, Anniebach. Surely you can't take chances after major surgery?

Maybe she'll drop out in a few weeks.

TerriBull Sun 02-Oct-16 20:11:17

I'm strangely finding myself warming to Ed Balls as a person rather than a politician and am quite glad he hasn't been voted out, even though he's a prime example of "dad dancing". I'd put my money on the final three being Daisy, Louise and Danny, with Danny being the overall winner, but it's early days and sometimes the improvement of absoulte beginners can be rapid and the sure starters don't always meet expectations.

Ana Sun 02-Oct-16 20:14:19

I thought Anastacia had had her mastectomy years ago. Not sure what this latest problem is.

Pittcity Sun 02-Oct-16 20:20:32

It was three years ago Ana and she had back muscles moved to the front. So I think Strictly is the first time she's really tested the surgeon's work.
She is donating her fee to Cancer Research.

Jane10 Sun 02-Oct-16 20:24:17

Danny is such a ringer. Spoils the programme for me. Not fair on the people starting from scratch. I felt very sorry for Anita Rani last year. No previous dance experience but turned into a lovely dancer.

cornergran Sun 02-Oct-16 20:26:40

Apparently in 2013 ana, or that's what Google says. Not sure what I think of that outcome, of course no one should be harmed in a dance off but it must be disappointing for the other dancer not to be able to fight their corner again. I also enjoyed watching Ed Balls, overall I'm rooting for anyone who enters and is right out of their comfort zone with no previous acting or dance experience.

Ana Sun 02-Oct-16 20:28:58

Oh, thanks Pittcity, sounds like very complicated surgery.

Ana Sun 02-Oct-16 20:29:40

Had a friend who had the same thing done. You only have it if you want a reconstruction. Was pretty major

DanniRae Sun 02-Oct-16 20:44:42

Is it wrong that I am finding Ed Balls quite cute? blush

Jane10 Sun 02-Oct-16 20:46:39

No. I think he's lovely too. I always thought he looked like a little boy even when he was being a serious politician.

DanniRae Sun 02-Oct-16 20:47:37

And I am sorry but if Anastacia was unable to compete in the 'dance off' due to an injury then she should have gone. It was unfair to not give the other couple a chance to dance again.

Jane10 Sun 02-Oct-16 21:01:07

I agree.

Charleygirl Sun 02-Oct-16 21:40:17

My thoughts also re Anastacia.

Before Strictly I would never have given Ed Balls the time of day but he has worked hard and is doing his best. It is very difficult for him when he is up against the likes of Danny who has obviously had a lot of experience prior to this show.

Deedaa Sun 02-Oct-16 21:40:33

I agree that if you aren't fit to dance you shouldn't be there. I know nothing about Anastacia but I gather she's a big "Star" and I wonder if they are going out of their way to keep her in.
