Anyone else watching the second series of this. It looks like its going to be just as good as the first one.

Maggiemaybe Tue 19-Sept-17 22:11:04

I think we're giving up. We've just watched last week's episode and had planned to carry straight on to this week's. But neither of us really care what happens to any of the characters and the whole thing seems so tawdry it's depressing. I doubt we'll be committing another three hours to this.

BlueBelle Tue 26-Sept-17 22:11:29

Ohhh er .....that was a cracker tonight

merlotgran Tue 26-Sept-17 22:16:35

I loved Neil Stuke's (Kate's dad) moment of glory. He's a great actor.

nanasam Tue 26-Sept-17 22:26:29

I was cackling like a witch when he got his comeuppance!

maryeliza54 Tue 26-Sept-17 22:39:15

Did she or didn't she?

maryeliza54 Tue 26-Sept-17 22:40:36

Neil Stuke - wasn't he in that legal drama with Maxine Peake?

merlotgran Tue 26-Sept-17 22:40:53

I didn't realise there are now two threads hmm

merlotgran Tue 26-Sept-17 22:42:51

Yes, maryeliza. He's always worth watching.

BlueBelle Tue 26-Sept-17 22:42:55

Yes I was getting confused there Merlot I knew I d posted but it had gone so thought I d inamined it so posted again only to realised we had two threads

maryeliza54 Tue 26-Sept-17 22:43:06

Oh bother two threads. That is plains why I thought I'd lost my post

NotTooOld Tue 26-Sept-17 22:52:20

Two threads. Her father was very good, so was her mother. The second wife has turned out to be much more feisty than I thought. I didn't get the bit with the two other women in the precinct though.

BlueBelle Wed 27-Sept-17 06:08:20

I actually started to like the second wife she was very calm and thoughtful when she tackled him, no madness very calm and clever

I've given up watching. DH didn't like it to the extent he was taking himself off into another room, and it's doing things to my mind. I don't think I like any of the characters and wouldn't give any of them house room. Can't even love hating any of them.

Is it just me? Probably, but I'm not impressessed with much of what is classed as entertainment at the moment. Many have plots that seem thin or unrealistic or both. As others have said, there's a trend for flitting about all over the place, mumbling, excessive background "music* and, in my opinion, too many explicit scenes that really don't add much - I feel they are put in as titilation, sometimes. I've not watched Dr Foster, didn't fancy it at all, but saw a few snippets on goggle box the other night and from what I saw (and I know they probably only pick out the 'juiciest' or most ridiculous parts), it confirmed my suspicions that I haven't missed much. Give me Morse, Endeavour or Lewis, Miss Marple, any day. (I often find myself watching repeats of these on the drama channel). I sound as if I am anti anything new. I'm not, but I like something that makes sense and that you can hear! At the moment nothing very much appeals, and don't get me going on those awful 'reality' shows. Rant over!

maryeliza54 Wed 27-Sept-17 18:49:42

I find it hard not to finish watching something which is really ridiculous of me. I agree about some of the older series - I loved Wycliffe and recently rewatched some on ITV 3 when I was in bed ill

Luckylegs9 Wed 27-Sept-17 22:22:20

I find it hard to watch, don't like any of the characters, she is totally nutty and unbelievable.

phoenix Tue 03-Oct-17 20:10:22

Now, I appreciate this is asking a lot, but I sort of saw the episode in the ex husbands new house, but wasn't able to give it my full attention (grrr!)

Is there some kind GN member who could possibly give me a sort of synopsis that might help with tonight's episode?

Thanks in anticipation!

Iam64 Tue 03-Oct-17 20:19:38

Not me I'm afraid phoenix, I've come over all Mary Whitehouse about this. I missed series 1 which everyone raved about, so watched series 2, episode 1 for 15 minutes. I've read the reviews since then and talked to friends about it. Nothing has influenced me to go back and watch it. I'll stop there because as we all know, if you can't say anything 'nice', don't say anything.

Ambergirl Tue 03-Oct-17 20:41:26

It is the poor child I feel sorry for....what chance has he with two parents that are bonkers???

merlotgran Tue 03-Oct-17 20:48:39

In a very small nutshell, phoenix, Dr. Foster has spent the whole series heaping revenge on her lying, cheating grade 1 bastard of an ex.

Leaving out details of the sex, swearing and general nastiness towards each other, the main theme has been the effect it's all having on their unfortunate teenage son.

Last week, horrible hubby got his comeuppance and has now lost everything.....home, job, new wife and child.

Dr. F is not finished with him yet though.....The last scene was of her maybe/maybe not running him over. shock

gillybob Tue 03-Oct-17 21:59:22

Well that was a waste of a whole hour of my life ! What a load of absolute tosh.

Ana Tue 03-Oct-17 22:02:02

Just what I was thinking, gillybob.

grumppa Tue 03-Oct-17 22:03:27

Well done, Tom. He had no future with those ghastly parents.

merlotgran Tue 03-Oct-17 22:04:20

Same here. It should have finished last week.

NotTooOld Tue 03-Oct-17 22:07:54

The son had a lot more acting to do in this last episode. He's very good, I have to say. I guessed he would probably up and leave but where has he gone? There was some talk of him going back to school but she would surely have found him if that was the case. And what about the drugs in the bedroom? She presumably left them there so the ex could kill himself but was that at his request? I'm left with more questions than answers now.
