Yes, it was gillybob, and I was thinking exactly the same about a body in a suitcase. Shame it turned out the way it did, I had been enjoying it, on a purely escapism point up until the final episode. Even though it had been far fetched up to the final episode, the final episode was totally beyond belief and farcical. If there's a follow up I won't bother.
I was half-expecting Mickey to pop out of the suitcase like a jack-in-the-box. I agree with Eloethan and others that domestic violence and murder are not suitable subjects for humour. It would be nice to watch some TV drama where modern women weren’t presented as airheads or ruthless harridans.
I too won't watch any more Girlfriends if it reappears. I got the distinct impression that Kay Mellor was rather "coasting" on the wave of previous successes.
I have given Silent Witness a go a few times but I just don't like it at all. And it probably isn't very realistic either even though it tries to give an impression of gravitas.
I don't think I'll bother with the last couple of episodes then - I can do something more enjoyable in those two hours (like scrubbing the kitchen floor?)
The suitcase would pop up eventually BlueBelle because the body would start to decompose and blow up with gas. Probably not that quickly. I was expecting the case to burst open on the way down and leave the body spread out on the rocks - in full view but unaccessible!
I could hardly watch this series, I definitely will not be watching a second because it was so ludicrous.
I recorded Silent Witness, no doubt it was as ridiculous but that will be the end of that also and it should be put to bed forever as it is well past its useful life.
Somehow my record didn’t work - must have been to do with Silent Witness being on last night. I hadn’t realised it was on last night ! Who was suffering the domestic abuse - the one who went on the cruise?
Surely there must be another series? They can't just leave it there, can they? I did enjoy it as I do like over-the-top, ridiculous things, but even I did wonder about the morality of it.
In the end I kept expecting the hire car to roll forward and knock the three women over the cliff. Quite disturbing series, domestic violence is never funny.
Really really crass and more like a very poor carry on film I have watched all the way through and thought it was getting more and more bizarre as the weeks went on as for the ending with the suitcase popping up ....What! with a 12 stone body in it ridiculous ..... and yes murder isn’t funny Very disappointing
It had its funny moments, the ending as others have said was almost farcical. I did enjoy seeing older actors warts and all, not glammed up like Dynasty. Apropos of Wendy Craig apparently she will appear in Emmerdale soon.
Well! what can I say..was expecting at least an interesting or twist in the end..but just plain silly.....I suppose from the start it was more comedy than a drama...I recorded last nights and watched it later.....(missed an hour of my much needed beauty sleep) tut! possible second series? (he would have to be a "Houdini though) !
It got really silly and I actually disagreed with the lighthearted way in which murder was represented. I suppose it wasn't really meant to be realistic but it just jarred with me.
Domestic violence is a terrible thing and I felt this storyline trivialised an important issue.
Not sure what I expected after watching the last 5 episodes But the last episode was bizarre and completely unrealistic almost like a Carry On Quite Stretch of the imagination
I am the only one who felt it made uncomfortable viewing?
