I confess, I am watching it. Someone phoned me Monday night and told me Anne Widdie and Rachel Johnson were in there. I think Widdie is great , met her once when she was here canvassing.

It has been women only to celebrate 100 years of women given the vote, sadly men are going in tonight.

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-18 20:59:30

It has been said all the housemates are going back in, more of India !

Rocknroll5me Wed 31-Jan-18 19:31:20

Too right grannyGranby I can’t stand hypocrisy

grannygranby Wed 31-Jan-18 18:40:05

Widdecombe also recently called the plan to reform gender recognition rules in favour of trans rights “very, very bad news”, staunchly opposes abortion, has supported the death penalty, and claimed Harvey Weinstein sex assault victims “had a choice”. Bless ’er.
Both Widdecombe’s age and her new status as a comedy figure shouldn’t detract from the gravity and backwardness of her views. Let’s hope CBB viewers choose to evict them.

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-18 18:34:36

Ann is not there to be judged on her career . As Maggie proved to be a liar it was good she went out early .

This is a friendly thread , your need for political discussions will be satisfied on the politics thread

Rocknroll5me Wed 31-Jan-18 18:27:31

You must all have poor memories of Ann Widdicombe's heartlessness and lack of empathy.I can't believe the brass neck of her being so sensitive to the faux labour contractions of the boys and evicting Maggie because she laughed as having no compassion...this from Doris Karloff as they used to call AW when she was Minister of prisons 22 years ago and legislated that women in labour should be manacled to a male prison officer in case they escaped...this was universally outlawed as inhumane cruelty and the goverment had to pay £30,000 compensation for the prisoner who suffered this. And she accused Maggie, who saved a thousand girls from abuse and is a woman with four children, of lack of compassion! (and these were young men who had the choice and could take the plaster off if unbearable.) Amanda and Jess laughed far more but Ann chose Maggie because ? was this honest?
She is a very poor example of a woman of her age, and it very annoying when that is used as an excuse for her bigoted narrow intolerant behaviour. It is not funny and she should't be encouraged.
I really hope ShaneJ wins he deserves it.

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-18 13:31:22

There was some conversations untill the men with brains in their trousers entered.

rafichagran Wed 31-Jan-18 12:19:39

To be fairnannylovesshopping Ann probably does all these things, but we do not see them as a 24 hour day is crammed into 1 hour.

I also do not get this Maggie love, I found her boring, she did have a converstion with Ann about abuse and the Catholic church, and Ann answered her question.

Nannylovesshopping Wed 31-Jan-18 10:41:48

Ann doesn't argue because she is so sure she is right, she cuts the conversation with a roll of the eyes, would have expected her to have been much more of an interesting debater. Have been disappointed generally as I thought there would have been lots of great conversations, i.e. Maggie and the police force, Ann and her political life, Amanda and Wayne with their long careers, malika with some chat about living in USA in close proximity with a certain family, I guess I expected too much

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-18 10:34:36

Oops sorry clicked too soon. Can it not be Amanda and Ann went in the jacuzzi after the brains in trousers men had left.

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-18 10:31:06

Ann has not taken a don't argue with me stance, she listens , may not agree but does not argue.

Devorgilla Wed 31-Jan-18 10:18:41

I too am sorry to see Amanda go. I think Shane J and Ann do have a lot of support, judging by the cheers. They have to be the two front runners. I thought Ann was a bit unnecessary with her comments to Courtenay about her dress and posture, especially as Shane J had taken the trouble to pour oil on troubled waters. Perhaps there will be a surprise ending.

Nannylovesshopping Wed 31-Jan-18 10:18:23

I must have a suspicious mind, think Amanda and Ann only got into the jacuzzi to raise their voting appeal, to show Ann's "sense of humour" most of the time Ann has a very sour expression, her I am right, don't argue with me attitude I find very off-putting, loosen up and put a smile on. Shane\Courtney to wingrin

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-18 08:57:54

I so agreed with Ann when she spoke of equality and no sliding playing fields, liked the friendship between Ann and Amanda, based on respect for each other not judging each other.

shysal Wed 31-Jan-18 08:52:20

I too was sorry to see Amanda leave. Judging by the crowd's cheers Shane/Courtney still has a lot of support, which surprised me. I loved Ann in the Jacuzzi, it showed her sense of humour! Hope she wins, but as most voters are young I think it will be Shane J sad. I have never voted for any reality show, too mean to shell out!

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-18 08:23:20

ShaneJ is sly, he manipulates , but I think he will win,

When I decided to watch this programme I thought i would be watching for a short time, untill Ann left, how wrong was I, she has made it to the finale ? Great to see someone who doesn't 'do' false get to the finale but I wish Amanda was still in. I like ShaneL

Lynnebo Wed 31-Jan-18 06:28:43

Rocknroll5me - 'Shane J has not been a talker behind backs, if anything he has been the voice of reason backing the absent person always.'^^

I think I have been watching a different version grin

Rocknroll5me Wed 31-Jan-18 05:57:04

I agree totally with nannylovesshopping...shaneJ for me.
I felt very keenly for ShaneJ the way they rejected him, the way Amanda rubbed his face in it when he apologised - they left him no place to go with dinity and giggled about it. I was ashamed of them. Shane J has not been a talker behind backs, if anything he has been the voice of reason backing the absent person always.
Also if he hadn't faced this little hell his journey of hero would not be complete. Very boring being loved all the time. At the very least lets hope Ann has learnt some tolerance and has stopped relying on her own God who constantly tells her she is right.

Ailsa43 Tue 30-Jan-18 12:16:49

Good for you DanniRae..it's about time we had well known celebrities winning CBB instead of the unknowns from reality shows

DanniRae Tue 30-Jan-18 12:14:23

I voted for Anne and Amanda to stay 3 x times each this morning! And I don't usually bother to vote on any of these type of programs.

Ailsa43 Tue 30-Jan-18 12:05:03

I agree Lynn... Shane L all the way to win now for me... pitty because I had Shane j's back up until he sided with Andrew over his vile rant at Ann ..and since Andrew and daniel left he's taken up the cudgel on Andrews behalf IMO.. and sadly teaming up with Andrew he backed the wrong horse, and Malika is just winding him up like a clockwork toy to say on her behalf all the nastiness she feels for Ann... but with no balls to say it to Ann herself.. from day one she's been whispering in corners about Ann in fact I think she was the very first but she's largely gone under the radar until now..

Lynnebo Tue 30-Jan-18 09:27:28

It appears that ShaneJ has realised his mistake after Amanda's outburst and is back peddling frantically!
I would still love Ann, Amanda and Shane L to be the final three.

Nannylovesshopping Tue 30-Jan-18 08:50:59

Ann and Amanda have been like a pair of witches over their cocoa and biscuits, Shane L has been one of the most boring contestants ever, the boys were only in touch with what's in their pants, and the girls in their make-up bags! At least Shane/Courtney has been interesting, felt he was being bullied last night, all of this is of course just mhogrin

Anniebach Tue 30-Jan-18 08:34:02

ShaneL hasn't upset anyone, but if all in the house had been as polite, respectful etc I doubt there would be many viewers still watching.

I certainly do not think 82 is nearer a grandmothers age , a great grandmothers yes.

Those in the house are no different to those watching , human nature at it's worse and best .

Ailsa43 Tue 30-Jan-18 03:12:36

I've waved the Shanej flag since day one ..ecept if they'd kept Andrew in any longer I would have lowered that flag for Shane..and I thought I wouldn't change my mind, but since he tried to manipulate Wayne , and others to go against Ann, I've changed my mind about him.

jess and Ashley are playing a smart game, they're both very aware of the other, and both trying to act like little children towards Ann, obviously believing that as Ann has already very much more in the public eye than Amanda, and having seen how wildly popular she was on SCD, they clearly believe they will gain some advantage by sucking up to Ann. The truth is if they were really looking for a grandmother figure they would choose Amanda who at 83 years old is much more of a grandmother's age..

Malika is clever but scheming (which I kind of knew anyway from KUWTK)....so I suspect she will be one of the 3 out this week. ..I hope the other 2 girls are out too..

I don't believe Ann or Amanda will win, and going forward there's little purchase in them for Channel 5..
I still think the LGBT community and the young viewing public will save ShaneJ... but for me, the winner now has to be ShaneL.. he's upset no-one in the house... and he's been polite and respectful to both men and women, young and old, and regardless of their sexual proclivity.. and he really is in touch with his EQ or emotional intelligence as some may recognise it more,, ad at no time caused any embarrassment to his family on the outside.

DanniRae Mon 29-Jan-18 15:42:47

rafichagran - Thanks !! grin
