Anyone watching this? Sarah Lancashire is such a good actress I didn’t fall asleep during the first one so it must have been good ?

lemongrove Thu 25-Jan-18 21:49:39

He looks much older.

Just watched the third episode, still think it was the adopted Mum ( but less sure!)

BlueBelle Thu 25-Jan-18 22:10:47

I have changed to the most flat chested Mum I ve ever come across as the main suspect although the boy is plain creepy and it could still be him
Who is the lover ? Where did he spring up from
I m enjoying it good acting and I m not finding the sound a problem at all which some people seem to have a probl m with

Luckygirl Thu 25-Jan-18 22:16:19

It smacks of Broadchurch.

gillybob Thu 25-Jan-18 23:08:51

Maybe it was Vodka in the hip flask? I don’t think you can smell vodka can you?

I think it was the creepy son (who seems to have some weird pervy relationship with the mother).

Just caught up with the latest episode and one thing really annoyed me:

The comment from the well off middle class mother, 'I thought we weren't having toast in the morning because it's too heavy.' The boy then set off for school after downing a glass of orange juice.

FFS. There are teachers all over the country who would prefer a child to have a slice of toast than nothing at all which happens all too often.

Such angst over a slice of flippin' toast for breakfast. She needed a good slap. grin

Jalima1108 Sun 28-Jan-18 11:02:59

That's why she's so thin merlotgran

Note to self: give up the toast

Jalima1108 Sun 28-Jan-18 11:05:02

I think it was her.
She admitted losing control and slapping a pupil
Perhaps she followed the little girl and her birth father and got jealous, followed the girl and argued with her then lost control again.

Oh dear - that’s four hours I won’t get back. Anyone else disappointed with the ending?

Jalima1108 Wed 31-Jan-18 23:10:36

Unexpected and unsatisfactory were the two words that came to mind.

Is there to be follow-up?

Jalima1108 Wed 31-Jan-18 23:12:20

Perhaps the son will get some toast for breakfast now he's gone to boading school.

I feel underwhelmed.

Jalima1108 Wed 31-Jan-18 23:12:40

boading school?
boarding school

ninathenana Wed 31-Jan-18 23:51:55

Jalima that sums it up for me too.

What a load of twaddle!!! Especially as it shows social workers in such bad light.

I am surprised thatSarah Lancashire would even want to be associated with such an awful series.

It also in my opinion shows middle class families as being completely bonkers!!!

gillybob Thu 01-Feb-18 08:12:09

Thoroughly disappointing ending . As others have said what was the point ?

Infact was it even an ending ?

maryeliza54 Thu 01-Feb-18 08:12:58

Police don’t come out too well either

maryeliza54 Thu 01-Feb-18 08:14:20

As the ‘credits’ started to roll we just looked at each other metaphorically open mouthef

maryeliza54 Thu 01-Feb-18 08:14:45

Or even mouthed

Oldwoman70 Thu 01-Feb-18 08:18:37

I gave up on this - so who did it?

suzied Thu 01-Feb-18 08:22:57

Series 2?

BlueBelle Thu 01-Feb-18 08:29:15

Mary Eliza I was just the same as it went to the credits I silently went WTF (well actually not silently but silently on here )
What a miserable non ended ending very very disappointed

gillybob Thu 01-Feb-18 08:31:55

Basically Kiris father was charged on the made up evidence that the nutty foster mother saw his car at their house when he didn’t even know where it was .

Christinefrance Thu 01-Feb-18 08:34:08

Yes I was disappointed as well, I know real life does not always have cut and dried situations but this was just a mess.
It's quite depressing to see our care services and police portrayed in such a way. As for the dysfunctional family well words fail me.

Maggiemaybe Thu 01-Feb-18 08:38:43

We had to double check that this was the last episode. What a disappointing (non) ending. On the positive side I'd worked out the motive for the killing, even though I'd got the wrong killer (mum).

We both thought Kiri had been strangled, but the weird adoptive dad's tale didn't tie in with that. confused

Gemmag Thu 01-Feb-18 08:43:59

Not an easy programme to watch but some very good acting. I thought it was the mother, still do!. Disappointed in the way it ended.

Why did Sarah Lancaster have to have a Bristolian accent anyway, she could have sounded like someone who came from the north couldn’t she!.

Nelliemosar.....I don’t know which part of Bristol you visited but next time you do try visiting Clifton. No one in that part of Bristol will think you a posh person from the Midlands?.

Maggiemaybe Thu 01-Feb-18 08:57:29

Ah, of course, it could still have been the adoptive mother - the son could have got it wrong and the adoptive dad could have been lying. I'm even more convinced there's another episode they've forgotten to schedule in. grin
