.....went to see it Friday. really enjoyed it...a feel good film. I think everyone was tapping a long with the music.

I haven't seen it yet, but will probably get the DVD when it comes out. I enjoyed the first film very much, and couldn't believe it was 10 years ago when it came out.

I love ABBA music but didn't enjoy the first film so won't be going to see the new one.
If it comes on tv I will watch it - for the music and the lovely scenery - I can't imagine that the story line will be any better hmm

Thanks those who commented about our ‘little diva’ baby so nice that you looked out for her. Believe or not I still haven’t seen it as OH has been in hospital so the days have slipped by but I will get there when he’s well enough for me to leave him .

Tanith, do tell your niece that her baby made me cry! That soft downy head, the tiny hands...

In case not seen, the Devon village where the local women recreated Dancing Queen this past weekend - they really get into it after about 1 minute, so persevere!

I have no idea why, but this song makes me tear up. I think it has to do with "you are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen ..." smile Those were the days.

Just been today with my DD -who has all my old vinyls, and very eclectic tastes in music and has already seen the film twice !Despite all the plot holes and age discrepancies and not really sure if I wanted to go I loved it.Laughed and cried -rather a lot actually- and came home feeling very nostalgic for my carefree youth

My daughter treated me to a viewing today, I absolutely loved it! I was a bit low today, but it really cheered me up.
I've lost count of the times I've seen the original.
It looks as if the original stars have had singing lessons, they were much better than in the original film. It doesn't really matter anyway, it's such a tonic. smile
Storynanny, I too love Julie Walter's top.

I loved it. Who cares about the story, the singing not being great. A real feel good film, just sit back, tap your feet and enjoy.

I will SueDonim when we next meet, her twin brother is not so delicate grin

Oh Grannyknot I’ve just watched the recording of the ladies of Stoke Gabriel in Devon recreating Dancing Queen, thought it was great and what a cheer up piece.
Am hoping to go to see the film sometime this week.
I saw the first one as one of my sixtieth birthday treats so this second one has come out just at the right time for me.

grin Tanith!

Went to see it on Friday and loved it. Yes of course it’s lightweught nonsense really but sometimes a wee bit of escapism with a bit of nostalgic music thrown in somehow just hits the spot.
Beautiful baby btw tanith!

Glitterknitbaby Tue 14-Aug-18 11:18:24

Went to see it yesterday and both me and OH enjoyed it so much, yes it might be a load of rubbish with ham acting and bad singing but the colour and the scenery were wonderful.

I laughed and cried in equal measure even had a good sing along at times, and came out of the cinema feeling cheered up.
Julie Walters made it for me,she is so good in everything she does

gulligranny Tue 14-Aug-18 11:35:09

Loved it. Loved the first one too. Particularly loved the actor playing Young Bill, and I don't usually like blond men. Mmmmm.

But - Cher?? That's really scary. She's a caricature of what she was, and even DH commented on the fact that she looks as if she's been stuffed full of formaldehyde. The voice is still there, though.

Saw it on Friday. Interesting but had to concentrate on the back story. No one suggested i took tissues, wish i had, the end had me in floods ......but really enjoyed it and the new songs.
