Well, we have to have a thread each season don't we! grin

Katie Piper was announced on Breakfast this morning. I am full of admiration for her and can't wait to see how she gets on.

DanniRae Tue 14-Aug-18 08:07:29

I am loving this thread! I just hope people don't come on here being all negative (you know who you are!). As I have already said on another thread where "Strictly" was mentioned - don't say that you "Never watch it" or have "Never heard of it" (as if) - I DON'T CARE because I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! gringrin

Gma29 Tue 14-Aug-18 08:25:07

I enjoy the dancing, I don’t like how they’re stretching the format out, I preferred the more straightforward presentation of the earlier series. Oh well, I can get a drink while the waffle is on!

kittylester Tue 14-Aug-18 08:37:51

And don't come on if you are the mother of one of the contestants and trying to drum up support for them!

I don't think I will ever get over that!! grin

oldbatty Tue 14-Aug-18 09:27:20

Every year, I say I'll give it a miss, especially the protracted early stages and the dreaded Halloween show.....but I suppose I'll be hooked.hmm

aggie Tue 14-Aug-18 09:30:15

me too Oldbatty smile

Blinko Tue 14-Aug-18 09:36:57

I'll be there watching, though must admit I don't know who Faye Tozer is... I have heard of Katie Piper and of course Danny John Jules. Looking forward to hearing the rest of this year's the runners and riders. I expect there'll be more I haven't heard of, especially if anyone from Love Island does appear.

henetha Tue 14-Aug-18 10:19:46

I love Strictly no matter who is in it. Music, dancing, costumes, what's not to like? Pure escapism.

kittylester Tue 14-Aug-18 10:30:00

And Joe Suggest - who is a vlogger! confused

kittylester Tue 14-Aug-18 11:19:58

I did not type Joe Suggest - I typed Joe Sugg!!!!!

Glitterknitbaby Tue 14-Aug-18 11:58:27

Sad to say but apart from Katie Piper I’ve never heard of any of the others.
I will watch, as some others have said, it’s a good prog. for an Autumn/Winter Saturday evening but I will miss Brendan Cole, he made it for me

Juliette Tue 14-Aug-18 12:03:14

Who was the pushy mother kittylester?

I watch it on catch up as DH hates it with a passion...now if it was a penalty taking competition I’d be subjected to that all night long.

Clear case for LTB? smile

DanniRae Tue 14-Aug-18 12:10:05

Yes kitty who was it?
I went with my daughter to Brendan Cole's show because she likes him and I must admit it was enjoyable. I especially enjoyed the part when he came down into the audience and stood right by me and did some sort of 'sexy' dance. She said I joined in but if I did I don't remember it!! grin

petra Tue 14-Aug-18 12:10:59

juliette
Susanna Reid. I thought she was rubbish from the beginning so all her mothers posts didn't sway me.

Hagridnan Tue 14-Aug-18 12:17:16

I love Strictly, don’t mind not knowing many of the contestants when it starts part of the enjoyment is getting to know them as they progress. It’s the only programme throughout the whole year I watch regularly. I love the fact my daughter, two young grandsons and I can all watch together. Newish son in law watches with us but is a bit bemused how invested we get. It’s lighthearted and fun and every year I say to anyone who is disparaging then don’t watch it, don’t click on forum threads about it.
Oh and I also watch It Takes Two when I am getting dinner ready.

Charleygirl Tue 14-Aug-18 12:37:28

I am doing very well, to date I have not heard of any of the so called "celebrities" entering this year.

kittylester Tue 14-Aug-18 12:49:20

juliette - it was quite off putting in that i, at least, felt uncomfortable posting about anyone else.

We were all to polite to tell her to shove off - think it might be different now. grin But, we survived to see another season.

merlotgran Tue 14-Aug-18 13:14:28

I think jingl did, kitty. Something along the lines of, 'It's Friday morning and here she is again drumming up votes for her daughter. We won't hear from her again until this time next week!' grin

I fell for it at the beginning but a deluge of flattering PMs made me wonder how many others had received them. grin

oldbatty Tue 14-Aug-18 16:48:32

So Suzanne Reids mother posted on here? ? Confused.

oldbatty Tue 14-Aug-18 16:49:34

I didn't like her sexy dancing in front of her children. Toe curl

Welshwife Tue 14-Aug-18 17:01:40

I just wish I knew more of the celebrities taking part - in the early days I knew most of them but now I am lucky if I know a couple! I must admit to not usually watching the early couple of shows.

Juliette Tue 14-Aug-18 17:17:10

Susanna took part in 2013 so just before my time.
Pushy mum v Jingl could have been interesting ?

Wonder who the fall guy will be this year?

KatyK Tue 14-Aug-18 18:08:16

oldbatty Susanna Reid's mother posted on here just to try to drum up votes for her daughter and then she disappeared. Allegedly. smile

Jane10 Tue 14-Aug-18 18:25:40

So I am allowed to watch Strictly but not comment negatively on it?! What if its not what it was? What if its too long drawn out? What if the people I like are put out? Do I have to gush on about the sheer wonderfulness of it?
If so I have the ideal revenge! Don't tempt me!

oldbatty Tue 14-Aug-18 19:00:09

naughty Jane.....I liked it when you saw somebody out of their comfort zone and back in the day it was something of a novelty to see a newsreader or whatever dancing.

Somebody who used to be in Steps, just doesn't do it for me.

I found Scott from East Enders interesting because he just " had it" but appeared to get burnt out.

Judy Murray ....er no.

petra Tue 14-Aug-18 20:36:55

Judy Murray.
One of my daughters refers to her as: the human embodiment of the colour beige.
Apologies to judys fans.
