Well, we have to have a thread each season don't we! grin

Katie Piper was announced on Breakfast this morning. I am full of admiration for her and can't wait to see how she gets on.

I also think the fact that Faye’s years and years of dancing experience is ignored but Ashley’s is not, is to do with the fact that Ashley is from the USA. Rosierow is right.
I’m afraid Faye comes across as rather irritating to me, but I still think she may well win.
I do feel a bit sorry for Ashley. After all, presumably the BBC actually asked her to be involved and all she did was accept. Now she’s finding that no matter how well she dances it ultimately makes no difference.

SCD makes my Saturday evening, I just love it. I also really enjoy It takes two on BBC2 6.30 weekdays, in fact I feel slightly bereft once each series finishes.

Faye's professional CV was published online today and she has massive dance and theatre experience including in West End shows. However, I find her much more likable than Ashley.

And much as I want Stacey to win because she has started from scratch and is very good indeed, if everybody was rubbish, no one would watch, and I do love to see some fabulous dancing, so I agree with Rosieroe about enjoying seeing the professionals at their very best with good partners.

Rosieroe Sat 08-Dec-18 23:13:22

You may be right Gravy about Dancing on Ice - I’ve never taken to it so haven’t seen her on it - but although Faye also has so much prior dance experience it’s Ashley who is being targeted. They both have made the show for me. How (and where) else would we get to see such wonderful dance routines where the professionals like Giovanni and Pasha get to perform for us at their very best?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 08-Dec-18 22:19:01

Rosierie, I think Ashley was a judge on “Dancing on Ice”

DanniRae Sat 08-Dec-18 22:18:50

Because I don't think Ashley deserves to be in the dance off I voted for her twice tonight.
I want Stacey to win the contest, however. tchsmile

Rosieroe Sat 08-Dec-18 22:06:59

I would like Faye and Giovanni to win for the delight they have given me in watching them dance but I’m resigned to the fact that the majority of viewers will likely vote for Stacey.

What really annoys me is people who have been vicious in their criticism of Ashley because of her previous dance experience, and she probably gets even more because she is American.

I also think people confuse her with Kimberly Wyatt (also from Pussy Cat Dolls) who was a judge on ‘Got to Dance’.

Anja Sat 08-Dec-18 21:51:12

Lauren is going to go this week. I’m pretty sure that Stacey will win and possibly Joe will come 2nd, not necessarily because they are the best but because they are total beginners and very popular. Joe has a huge following on his blog.

Faye to come third.

paddyann Sat 08-Dec-18 21:49:59

I still think that Asley shouldn't be there ,sheis a choreographer AND judge on a dance show it seems a bit unfair on the folk who started as non dancers .Faye may have dance experience too though not as much but enough to make it an unfair contest .

Anja Sat 08-Dec-18 21:45:16

I agree anno

annodomini Sat 08-Dec-18 21:29:30

I also give all my votes to Stacey and she does seem to be far and away the public favourite. And Kevin is always popular too. I prefer Fay to Ashley and think Giovanni is adorable!

Charleygirl5 Sat 08-Dec-18 20:59:55

I cannot complain who leaves or stays because I never vote.

merlotgran Sat 08-Dec-18 20:20:57

Stacey gets all my votes. I think she's amazing and Kevin is a brilliant choreographer.

TerriBull Sat 08-Dec-18 20:10:06

I think Lauren may go this week, or Joe. Ashley and Faye are technically better than Stacey, but I think she has the hearts of the public insomuch, as there is a perception that the other two have dance experience and Stacey started from cold. Anyway, I'm hoping she'll be the overall winner.

lemongrove Thu 06-Dec-18 20:19:54

Lauren should go this week, then Joe, but who can tell?

petra Thu 06-Dec-18 16:41:29

Sorry Maw didn't see the last page (your post)

petra Thu 06-Dec-18 16:39:47

BigColl
I don't know who your watching but Danny went out on the 10th November.m

MawBroon Thu 06-Dec-18 10:46:19

Danny went out weeks ago BigColl

bigcol1 Thu 06-Dec-18 10:32:52

I too love strictly. I do agree that Danny is good and in the early days I would have tipped him to win, but now Kevin and Stacey have cum up a lot I think and I think they are in the running. I didn't see the musicals night last week due to a quiz I went to but I understand their performance didn't leave a dry eye in the house. I was also sos I missed out on A.J and Lauren with "A Wonderful Guy". apparently it was supposed to be really spectacular. I havenbt got I player or whatever they call it although I did see a clip of it someone must have posted on facebook. if Kevin and Stacey don't win. A.J is my next tip and maybe Danny and that's it. We'll have to see what happens - BIG COL

Tess always tells us to vote for our favourite. She does not say "the best dancer". It may be that the best dancer IS your favourite, in which case that's who to vote for.

It has never been a pure dance competition and popularity plays a big part, especially in the final, which is based wholly on the public vote.

Personally my favourite is Faye and I hope she wins. I have tried hard to like Stacey, given all the support on here for her, but I find her brash and really don't like the way she talks over everyone, including the judges. Joe is a sweetheart but not that good a dancer (apart from his quickstep which was excellent). Lauren is a very fit athlete and a tryer but not a natural dancer, which makes watching her not that great. Ashley is as good as the professionals and was from the start. It was a mistake to have her in Strictly I feel.

Who will win? We'll know on 15 December!

Rosieroe Wed 05-Dec-18 10:13:30

I agree with most of your comments eazybee. The show wouldn’t be worth watching if all the contestants were the same standard from the beginning so they choose from across complete beginners, those showing potential and those with some experience to provide an entertaining programme. We have seen some amazing dances from the likes of Debbie McGee and this year from Faye and Ashley and although I love seeing complete novices embrace what they’re learning and improving over the weeks I’m afraid if the whole evening was comprised of one mediocre performance after another I for one wouldn’t bother watching. (p.s. I think Kevin’s choreography is rather good at ‘smoke and mirrors’.)

mcem Mon 03-Dec-18 14:23:46

Joe McFadden won last year and it's quite a few years since Tom Chambers did.

eazybee Mon 03-Dec-18 12:37:58

The title is 'Strictly Come Dancing' and the winner should be the best dancer. I am not aware that it states anywhere the prize should go to most improved dancer. Dancers with previous training rarely win, but there are a few contestants who deny they have ever received dance training (Tom Chamberlain, the man who won last year and was previously performing dance routines on the West End stage; Denise van Outen who said she trained as a singer, not a dancer, and all those who passed through stage school apparently without ever having had a dance lesson.)
I am sorry Charles was voted out; he was developing and has far more potential than Joe Sugg, who has reached his limit. Stacey's dance was a mess; costume, choreography and her performance, most of which seemed to comprise being manhandled into a series of lifts and a few pas des waltzes.
The advantages the trained dancers do have is stamina which is increasingly apparent; energy isn't enough.
I have enjoyed this year's show so much because there have been some excellent dancers and that is what I love to watch: Ashley, Faye and Danny Jon-Jules, who should still be in the competition; Lauren should have gone weeks ago, and AJ knows it.

DanniRae Mon 03-Dec-18 12:20:34

I don't think Ashley should win but I don't think she is at all brash. I find her charming......... it's just her dancing experience that bothers me.

Blinko Mon 03-Dec-18 11:18:37

I agree, I hope a non dancer wins. Otherwise, what's the point? My money's on Stacey.
