Well, we have to have a thread each season don't we! grin

Katie Piper was announced on Breakfast this morning. I am full of admiration for her and can't wait to see how she gets on.

kittylester Mon 22-Oct-18 06:10:09

What about that then?

eazybee Mon 22-Oct-18 08:03:06

Two amazing dances: Charles and Danny Jon-Jules, (apologies if names are incorrect).
Think they made the right decision about Vic Hope.
I wonder if Serena Williams watches? She could learn the art of losing gracefully; all the leavers have behaved impeccably, leaving with such dignity.

Teetime Mon 22-Oct-18 08:03:16

That was a surprise to everyone. I thought Vic was very good.

kittylester Mon 22-Oct-18 08:37:00

I agree, Teetime.

I'm not sorry to see her partner go though. He seemed to dance with his mouth open all the time which made him look like a fish.

Sparklefizz Mon 22-Oct-18 08:52:51

Teetime I agree. Vic made sure to keep her legs straighter which was the advice she was given, and I think Craig was right to say that galloping Seann should go. However, I wonder if he was kept in to keep ratings up for another week .... or am I just a li'l ole cynic?

Maggiemaybe Mon 22-Oct-18 09:10:01

Okay, an occasional Strictly viewer here who rarely knows who the celebrities are. We caught the dance-off yesterday and I thought from the standard of their dancing that Vic was the professional. She certainly gave it her all.

ginny Mon 22-Oct-18 09:22:26

I think Seann should have gone going by the dance off. However As far as I’m concerned Kate should have been in the dance off with him and either could have gone.

eazybee Tue 23-Oct-18 08:00:32

Correction to post of 22.10.18. about Strictly when I commended all the leavers for their grace and dignity in accepting defeat.
Not Vick Hope, who has accused the judges of conferring with the producers before deciding to save Seann Walsh from elimination.
Poor.
Like her dancing.

Sparklefizz Tue 23-Oct-18 19:03:19

eazybee I read online today a quote from one of the professional dancers saying that the judges electronically communicate their decision to the control room, then after that the producers always confer with them about how long they have got to give their reasons why they've made those choices. It obviously looks bad but may not be. I thought Vick was gracious in defeat on camera but seems not have been afterwards (if we can believe the media.) Obviously we don't see everything that happens on camera, eg. clearing away the sets and props from each dance.

Sparklefizz Tue 23-Oct-18 19:04:48

ginny As far as Kate is concerned, I think everyone is remembering how brilliant she was as Jessica Rabbit in the tango (or was it the paso?) Anyway, she showed terrific potential then but hasn't been able to keep it up since.

Jalima1108 Tue 23-Oct-18 19:08:41

I think we all realise that the Sunday night show is filmed on Saturday - so why keep up the pretence, getting the judges and everyone else to mention 'yesterday' or 'on Saturday' so often?

lemongrove Tue 23-Oct-18 21:11:02

I thought that Sean was the better dancer in the dance off, he slowed down and kept pace with the music, whereas Vick
Did badly in the dance off by losing all the joyousness of her first dance.I think that was because she was so shocked at being in the dance off, and yes Kitty that silly open mouth in her partner all the time was really offputting!
Charles dances really well all the time, and his ‘street’ routine was just fab, as was Danny’s dancing ( I know he used to be a dancer a long time ago, but he’s pushing 60 now.)

lemongrove Tue 23-Oct-18 21:12:16

I wish the American judge could permanently replace Bruno.

MawBroon Sun 11-Nov-18 22:17:13

That was a bit of a travesty tonight I thought.
Fair enough I like Graeme but he was quite flat footed at times.
Ah well, what do I know?

Jomarie Sun 11-Nov-18 22:42:37

I think that the powers that be decided that the result was, to coin a phrase, " in the best interests of " ....the children, the programme, the future etc. etc, I think one scandal per series is enough and him being a diva and "allegedly" throwing his weight around was not good for the ratings, Maybe I am just too cynical too !!!

Teetime Mon 12-Nov-18 08:58:05

Please let it be Graeme next week - he just cant dance and that routine was DIRE!

Buffybee Mon 12-Nov-18 09:43:11

Graeme is not the best dancer but I would rather watch him than Danny, who always seems very staccato and clipped in his movements.
It's obvious the Pussy Cat Dolls girl is going to win and quite right too. She has been near perfect every week and the Contemporary dance on Saturday was just beautiful.
Love Strictly! Dah Dah Da Dah, Da Da, Dah, Dah Da Da Da Dah!!!!!

Nanabilly Mon 12-Nov-18 09:47:28

Graeme routine was fun and so energetic. The costumes were dire.!
I did not like watching the guy who just went out dance . He never looked as if he was enjoying it ,apart from his jive, that huge grin was so false.
Stacey is fab.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 12-Nov-18 09:56:36

I am another avid Strictly fan ??Definitely the correct decision to let Danny go.

My favourite couple is Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton, although I do not think they will win, probably either Faye Towser (steps) or Ashley Roberts (Pussy cat dolls) will lift the glitter ball this year.

Sparklefizz Mon 12-Nov-18 11:36:28

I hope Stacey wins because she has never danced before, been in a pop group etc so trying to act the part as well as dance is all new to her. I suspect Ashley Roberts might win, though, and her dancing is sublime.

I'm glad Danny was voted out last night. He always danced so stiffly like he had a broomstick up his ....... and I know he's had a bad press recently but anyone could see that he had an insincere and snappy side to him right from the start. I wasn't at all surprised to hear that he had been unpleasant to Amy, and his little speech last night when he was voted off was sugar-coated and not at all genuine. Yuk!

TwiceAsNice Mon 12-Nov-18 13:05:06

Glad Danny went because I was really cross to think he could be mean to Amy who is so genuine. The biggest travesty is that Joe Suggs gets to stay in every week when his dancing is getting worse not better. The judges are so gushing of him whatever he does. Our family think it's fixed that he stays in because his blog has such a teenage following but I think it's a great shame if that's true, but I'm thinking it probably is.

DanniRae Mon 12-Nov-18 13:40:32

I really like Joe and Stacey for the same reason - they haven't danced before.
I am glad Danny has gone - I didn't like him from the start.
But I am LOVING "Strictly", as always, and really looking forward to Blackpool grin

Deedaa Mon 12-Nov-18 14:47:13

I really like Stacey. I came across one of her programmes by accident and loved her personality. Lovely to see her danciñg so well.

eazybee Mon 12-Nov-18 16:45:56

I am sorry Danny went; he was an extremely good dancer with excellent posture, correct placement and extension, and good performance. (rotten timing, though). He could also perform.
The two who should go are Kate Silverton and Lauren; both nice women, hard workers, learn their routines, but neither is a dancer . This is supposed to be a competition about dancing: strictly dancing

Sparklefizz Mon 12-Nov-18 16:50:55

eazybee Danny has performance training and has often told us that he is an "entertainer", though, and Kate and Lauren don't, so they have had to start from scratch.
