Who's watching Bake Off?

I love roulades! They look amazing. My money's on Jon at the moment but the winner always takes me by surprise so I'm probably barking up the wrong tree.

And does anyone manage to watch an entire episode without reaching for a sweet snack? This program is not good for my waistline.

Oh dear, I'm another of the innocents thinking what a nice friendly group it is this year. And I find Sandy and Noel such an improvement on Mel and Sue.

Just wrote a long post about who went and who got star baker and then realised not everyone may have seen this week’s episode yet so stopped from posting just in time. Suffice it to say that on this week’s challenges, I think someone else should have gone but I am glad he/she didn’t.

I am really enjoying both Bake Off and an Extra Slice.

I thought it was in the bag for Rahul but could the wonderfully sweet Kim Joy be a winner? Probably not but I do like her style.

Everybody seems to rub along nicely and I think that makes it so enjoyable to watch.

I like all the bakers who appeared this evening, but was surprised at who went - it didn't seem fair when one of the others had three complete disasters and obviously expected to be the one to go.
I also thought the person who got star baker was the wrong one too.

I agree that the wrong person went in this episode but did think that the star baker was a worthy winner. I really like Noel and Sandy and think that Prue is a good match for Paul. The programme is a pleasant relief from all the doom and gloom on the news channels. ?

It's either Kim Joy or Briony for me to win. Slowly going off Rahul with all the 'angsty' faces. The two girls show real happiness and sadness too depending on the situation. Love Ruby too, she is so funny at times and Paul is no match for her.smile

Also surprised at the leaver this week. I’m finding Rahul more than irritating, too much drama that doesn’t feel authentic. Probably doing him a disservice. It’s an enjoyable, undemanding watch.

I loved the moment last night when Rahul gloomily said “Doomed!”. The look on his poor little face!

merlotgran Wed 17-Oct-18 09:48:30

I'm finding Rahul quite creepy and he definitely should have gone last night.
I think Noel likes winding him up. grin

NanKate Wed 17-Oct-18 11:09:27

Yes Rahul should have gone. He comes over as a Mummy’s boy and a bit of a sad character really.

I have really warmed to Kim-Joy and hope she wins.

It is one of the few programmes I look forward to.

As a non-baker I do enjoy Bake off and also Extra Slice but cannot take to Tom Allen.
I find him creepy and sarcastic and not remotely funny. Jo Brand and guests managed perfectly well without him and would again!

Jane10 Wed 17-Oct-18 11:17:49

Kim Joy just really annoys me. Don't know why. I like Briony and Ruby.
I really thought Rahul was going home last night though. So did he!

annodomini Wed 17-Oct-18 12:18:32

Rahul has become a 'teachers' pet' and the judges evidently took his past achievements into consideration when they saved him. But he really made a pig's breakfast of his Danish pastries.

Jane10 Wed 17-Oct-18 12:50:07

Oo mcem I love Tom Allan's acerbic review of the past week. I find him refreshingly rude after all those gushy programmes where everyone is nice to and about everything! He often says what people are thinking but wouldn't dream of saying out loud. He has a sort of knowing twinkle in his eye.

Flossieturner Wed 17-Oct-18 13:24:27

I wonder if it is just Pru and Paul who make the decision or if the producers have a say. Rahul has a strong following and I wonder if there was an eye on the ratings . Over the competition Rahul was stronger than Mahon, but they say they only judge it on the week. Three disasters seem to undermine that.

humptydumpty Wed 17-Oct-18 13:33:02

Agree with the positive comments about Noel nad Sandi - I just miss Mary B!

humptydumpty Wed 17-Oct-18 13:50:20

and not nad!

I had got really fed up with Mel & Sue, but didn't like Sandi Toksvig, had never heard of Noel Fielding and couldn't imagine it without Mary Berry, so wasn't going to watch the "new" Bake Off.

But I love it! The emphasis has been put back on the contestants and Prue is just wonderful. I even like Sandi now, but Noel still seems out of place albeit quite sweet.
The only fault I'd find is that some of the challenges are too far outside most people's area of expertise and thus become uninteresting because they all make a mess of it.

oldgimmer1 Mon 22-Oct-18 11:19:02

I'm another reluctant fan of Tom Allen. I found him unbearable at first but he's grown on me. I love Jo too.

I think I'm enjoying the C4 version better. I could not take to Sue Perkins at all - too much "I'm a lesbian - look at meeee I'm soo funny" for my liking.

Loving Noel and his shirts but underused. Liking Sandi too - always have.

My money's on Kim Joy.

I think the leaver who left last week went because she didn't fulfil the brief.

Last week was very tense...looking forward to this week's.

NanKate Mon 22-Oct-18 12:04:21

I decided to watch the spin off programme with JomBrand who I like but once Imsaw the loathsome Jonathan Ross come on the set I switched off.

I am thoroughly enjoying the series Noel is lovely, Sandi fun, Prue great and old Blue Eyes, porky, but knowledgeable.

KimJoy for me as the Winner.

NanKate Mon 22-Oct-18 12:05:01

Sorry about the typos.

Washerwoman Mon 22-Oct-18 16:48:10

I really hope Kim Joy wins now.It took me a while to warm to her ,but she's so creative and original. And Rahuls doom and gloom and 'poor me' is wearing thin.He is beginning to remind me of a school friend of my DDs years ago who always wittered on about doing badly in tests but invariably got top marks.Admittedly he messed up this week, more so than Mannon I thought, but I've lost patience with him.Actually any of the girls to win over him for me !

BBbevan Mon 22-Oct-18 17:41:06

Kim- Joy for me too. I find Rahul very affected

merlotgran Tue 30-Oct-18 21:11:24

Nooooooooooooo!!

MawBroon Tue 30-Oct-18 21:12:19

Oh politically correct fix!
Sweet chap but hardly the best baker of the three. His showstopper looked like a Halloween horror cake.
