I love roulades! They look amazing. My money's on Jon at the moment but the winner always takes me by surprise so I'm probably barking up the wrong tree.
And does anyone manage to watch an entire episode without reaching for a sweet snack? This program is not good for my waistline.
Why politically correct MawBroon?
You'd think Channel4 would have flown Rahul's parents over for the final!
I wanted KimJoy, but I thought Ruby would be winner tonight. Rather surprised that Rahul got it. Enjoyed the series. ???
What a blooming travesty.
I couldn't agree more, Maw. He should have gone out two weeks ago.
DH even thinks the shattered jar was to give him more time.
Ruby gets on my nerves. Anyone else noticed that Paul ALWAYS turns Ruby's disasters, and there have been many, into mini-triumphs with remarks like"excellent flavours, that tastes fabulous" whereas when the others have a bad time they get "disaster, fail, very disappointing " etc, etc?
Ruby is seen as the pretty, articulate cheeky Asian girl and she is being lined up as a Ch4 presenter I dare say. I am a Kim Joy fan. I like her artistic touches and genuine charm. Rahul needs a good shake and Briony I like because she bounces back from her disasters and can bake.
I await the final. Kim Joy should win imo, but I'll put money on it being the aforementioned Hollywood favourite. I do think Sandy and Noel are excellent - so genuinely kind, both of them, and Prue's style is much better than the blessed Mary Berry's imo. Hollywood is horrid but he knows his stuff. Enjoyable programme.
I agree Maw wrong person again. Should have been Kim Joy.
Gosh I can hardly believe I'm reading these other posts. I thought he was winning all through this episode. His showstopper was much better than the others. Kim Joy blew it with too samey flavours and Ruby had problems too.
The technical was awful for all three. All their doughnuts looked OK.
Good on you Rahul!
If they are looking for presenters after Bake Off as they did with Nadiya Hussein, Kim Joy has far more to offer with her artistic skills. Rahul depresses the hell out of me.
Dammit!
Shouldn't have read on. Silly me! Haven't watched the final yet and know I know who's won!

Rahul appeared to be a in a permanent state of consternation and very self deprecating. I thought they were all good. I like Ruby a lot, I really wanted her to win, although I think over the course of the series Kim Joy came across as the most artistic and creative contestant. I do think some of the challenges set were even more ludicrous in this series, and as always, often overly difficult. I was sorry when Briony went out, I thought she had a great rapport with Noel, I remember at the beginning of the series, he said to her something along the lines of "has anyone ever told you, you look like Bjork?" To which she replied, "no, but I have been told I look like Michael McIntyre" Good sense of humour under pressure. I think Rahul was the one contestant who wanted Noel to go away at times. I sympathise, it's not easy responding when trying to cope with the precision required in most of the tasks. Well done Rahul !
Disappointing result. I hoped for Kim-joy but thought it would be Ruby.
Rahul has had some bad bakes over the last few weeks and I thought he should have gone last week.
So, a very strong storage jar shatters because of the heat in the tent? Rubbish! We know it was a thick glass jar because of the way it shattered and they only do that if you leave them very close to or actually on a hot plate. They don't even shatter in an oven.
They must think we're all stupid.
I so agree with you Maw rubbish cake
Weeeelll
I said I was batting for Kimjoy to win but I am being fair and I thought her showstopper left a lot to be desired.
She is so talented with her creative flair but her showstopper was so dull in colour and imagination , so not Kimjoy.
I thought all 3 finalists were lovely contestants and the dynamics between Pru, Paul, Sandi and Noel is a definite winning combination. Good series √
I think that many of the challenges were too challenging. Often the contestants didn’t do that well, and the judges had to cover it up with remarks about the flavour. Still enjoyed it though.
I agree pensionpat
Mind you, I suppose "Let's see who can make the best Victoria Sandwich" as a challenge wouldn't be very exciting.
There didn't seem to be any happy medium though and has there been much more emphasis on decoration this series because to my mind, only Kim Joy makes things look lovely on a regular basis.
Some of the decoration of cakes and the weird and strange things they've had to make has been ghastly. I have seen exhausted Mum's produce better decoration on their kiddies' birthday cakes.
The Paris cake shop window task was a travesty - says she who can spend hours gazing upon the delight's in the windows of bakers shops in France. They are a work of art. The majority of BO contestants can only dream of such finishing touches.
I ve only popped in and out so dont really have the right to an opinion but from the bits I saw Kimjoy was way out ahead, Rahul depressed the hell out of me and I presume played on it to the hilt The creations were all so unrealistic and as far away from baking as you could get that they reminded me of drag queens hats
I still think Noel is the most drippy uninspiring unnecessary presenter I think Prue looks fabulous for her age and is full of fun and so much more personable than posh Mary was
Now tell me to get lost
Very disappointed in the final episode, and the eventual winner. A bit of growling here last night. Our local radio station is having a bit of a poll this morning, so far Rahul would not have won.
I thought it should have been either Ruby or Kim Joy. Rahul reminds me of a petulant child and I dont think he will handle winning very easily whereas one of the girls would have been brilliant especially if they had ended up hosting their own prog like Nardia, somehow can't see Rahul in the same light.
I really wanted Ruby to win for her cheerful stoicism ,or Kim Joy.But on reflection the one thing as viewers we can't do is taste the bakes, and both Prue and Paul said Rahuls showstopper flavours and textures were the best. And after all that's what cake is all about.More than once I've been tempted when only intending to buy a coffee by a lovely looking piece of cake -only to find it 'wasn't worth the calories ' as Prue says.
I really like her as a judge, more so than Mary and whilst Paul has seemed very harsh this series I also like Noel and Sandi as co presenters.
Not really watched this series. I miss Mary.
I thought I would miss Mary, but I haven't. I agree about Rahul. Can you see him presenting his own cooking program?
I hope Kim-Joy and Ruby get something good out of this. I shall watch Extra Bake to see how,Rahul in particular, handles it all.
Last year's winner disappeared without trace. They don't all go on to TV careers. Nadia was an exception.
I enjoyed this series. The judges and presenters are all good.
I do think Rahul was a worthy winner this week but I had thought he'd be out a few weeks ago. But as stated by a previous poster, we can't actually taste the cakes and the judges can.
Oh well. Here's to next year's Bake Off!
At the end of the day, they have to give the prize to the best baker. I only dipped in and out of the series, so don't know how Rahul performed overall, but on last night's episode, he seemed to perform the best.
If they started awarding the winner's prize to the one who would make the best TV presenter that would be totally unfair!
Kim Joy should have won without a doubt. I haven't enjoyed some of the difficult challenges they were set. I didn't think I'd like the new presenters but I do, very much.
