Manhunt with Martin Clunes

This appears to be a drama about police work and gives an insight into the painstaking detection process; I don't think the murdered girls are portrayed at all, so there is nothing prurient about it.
(Stuck in a hotel room on Friday night I saw Luther for the first, and last, time. I thought it was quite disgusting.)

Watched the first 2 episodes on catch up tonight. I was a mite reluctant because of the subject material, but Martin Clunes is always brilliant.
Did anyone else notice how clear all the dialogue was, compared with so many programmes? Every word was crystal.. I had begun to think it was me with all that mumbled, 'realistic' dialogue.
Why can't all dramas manage clearly audible dialogue?

I watched the last 2 episodes and was intrigued by the complexities of inter force interaction .

I enjoyed it , I thought it was well acted and enjoyed the puzzle that they solved to finalled get justice for these terrible crimes.

I enjoyed it also- Martin Clunes I thought was really good. I could not believe it when I did not have to turn on subtitles because the diction was clear and also for the vast majority of the time they were working in daylight, not groping around in the dark aka Luther.

It was excellent. I can't remember when I last felt so emotional at the end of a true life drama. Clunes deserves an award.

I thought it was really well done, and Martin Clunes was very believable.

I don't think it was a sensationalist piece of drama but a study of the painstaking way in which the evidence was collected so that a charge could eventually be brought.

It was very sad, though, to see the photos of those young women whose lives were so brutally cut short.

Oh, I really wish I'd watched it now!

I put it on to record, then I read that at least one of the families was unhappy about it, so I didn't watch it, just deleted it. I thought that was the very least I could do

I think it was interesting to see a police drama based on fact and to understand about a real murder investigation. I thought the hugs all round when he was charged showed how much they all cared about getting a result.

I thought it was very good, most interesting how the police delved into every detail.....like the trawling through reels of till receipts for Laura's shopping......Martin Clunes never fails either .....

Having watched-well sort of as I go to make a cuppa in the violent bits,and found the plot and continuity frustrating- I didn't watch this initially. But seeing reviews put it on catch up .It was riveting ,excellent and Martin Clunes was superb.And great to see a police team of believably 'normal' officers,just diligently investigating without whacky characters or sub plots.I thought it was sensitively done.The families were consulted and gave approval apparently.The name of the victim who was run over twice but survived was changed,I presume she requested that ?

Well acted by Martin Clunes.
The only downside is that the jailed monster will " feel famous " as he'd have known that the series was being shown.

That's a thought at the back of my mind ,and an initial reason I didn't watch ,and because it's seems so recent for those poor families.I can imagine Levi Bellfield loves the oxygen of publicity sadly.

I avoid police dramas, but Mr.GG wanted to watch it and it made me put my kindle down.

I think it portrayed the police doing their job extremely well as opposed to all the fast cars and violence which is normally served up to the viewer in Police Dramas.

It was very gripping, as others have said well acted by Martin Clunes. It all played out in the area I live. I was very aware of it at the time particularly the horrifying fatal attacks on Marsha and Amelie. My children were in their teens and the girls they knew were very jittery about travelling about on buses in the evening if I remember rightly. For some reason or other they changed the name of the poor girl who was knocked down by that maniac and reversed over, but luckily she pulled through in spite of her horrific injuries. I remember leaflets being handed out in a local shopping mall after Millie went missing. What I did read was that she had some chance encounter with Bellfield when she passed him on her walk home from school. I believe she knew him vaguely because he organised a roller disco that she attended. That was a very popular activity with junior/early senior school children back then, I don't know if it still is, my children were always going to roller disco events in various local sports halls when they were that age.

Such a callous person who has caused untold heartbreak to the poor families of those girls.
