I am thrilled to see in my new Radio Times that this is back next Tuesday. The judges are the same (I love Patrick) but Claudia Winkleman has been replaced by comedian Joe Lycett. I am looking forward to seeing what challenges they come up with this time.

I was a size 8 or 10 with a 22" waist . Size was depending on which shop I was buying from .
in Chelsea Girl a size 10
In bird cage a size 8.
I am liking Joe in sewing bee , quite refreshing after the previous presenter , can't remember her name at moment. ??
I loved the maxi dress challenge and My favourite was the one with shoe strong straps and a frill.

If you enjoy sewing bee take a look at the American show called project runway ..bit more upmarket and "fashion forward" but a great show .
I'm watching it on netflix and loving it.

I thought the funniest bit was when the presenters tried to 'pogo', that poor lady went flying!

I so much prefer the new presenter, the program has a completely different feel. He is more empathetic and doesn't try to steal the show.

I really felt my age when they did the punk recycled garment and quite a number of them hadn't even been born in the 7os and didn't really know what the punk look was.

I thought Riccardo's origami top on last night's programme was spectacular! Who do you think will be the winner in next week's final? I think it could be any of them.

Grammaretto Wed 27-Mar-19 10:01:12

I preferred Leah's clever top with the origami collar. Riccardo's may have been clever but it wasn't wearable.
I think they, the judges, make up their minds early on who they want to win. It will be Juliet with her smile and easy skill. IMO.
I was sorry Jen had to leave.

I too loved Riccardo’s top, an absolute masterpiece, think Juliette will win, but Riccardo is definitely my favourite, the man is a creative god!

M0nica Wed 27-Mar-19 17:34:40

Leah must be the luckiest contestant ever, she always bumps close to the bottom, but with the occasional success like last night and there is always someone, usually better than her (Jen and Janet) who manages to have a disastrous day and end up being the one leaving the sewing room.

On that basis I back Leah to win!!

Millie22 Wed 27-Mar-19 18:55:22

I really hope Riccardo wins as his white top was brilliant and the coat he made last week. Juliette also makes some fantastic clothes. She made a lovely dress a few weeks ago.

I ve given up on it I like the first series but it’s too predictable now I got bored

Juliet has displayed consistency which the others haven't achieved.
She's bright and imaginative and I hope she wins!

I preferred Leah's clever top with the origami collar. Riccardo's may have been clever but it wasn't wearable.
Riccardo's looked unfinished
The front was wonderful but the sleeve edges and neck edge were left raw - no-one would wear it like that!

Nandalot Wed 27-Mar-19 20:47:35

I think Riccardo is the most creative but Juliet has some good designs and is a very good sewer. I think they keep Leah in as she is good television. I felt the architects did a lot of the work for her collar, whereas Jen’s was a magnificent construction. Shame she didn’t have time to press it out, Also I am sure Leah send that fold technique on the front early on in the competition on a top she made in a transformation challenge.

Deedaa Wed 27-Mar-19 21:07:23

I loved the coat Riccardo made last week. Wasn't keen on any of the origami tops because they aren't the sort of thing I could wear myself. Have no idea who will win, I think it will depend who has a complete disaster next week.

I would love to see the sewers do a dress/outfit from the Edwardian or Victorian days. I think it will be Leah that wins. She seems to me to be one of those people that no matter what she does wrong she always come out on top.smile

Larissa67 Thu 28-Mar-19 08:25:48

I agree with Jamilla1108 Ricardo's origami top, was clever but unwearable and unfinished. Sometimes the judges seem nitpicking and other times let things slide. The time challenge is to add tension and drama to make it more televisual, especially when things go wrong. like the back to front sleeve! Despite this I'm a big fan.
My moneys on Juliet winning because she consistently produces garments which while stylish you feel you if you are a sewer you could replicate at home.

Jalima1108 Thu 28-Mar-19 09:44:43

She seems to me to be one of those people that no matter what she does wrong she always come out on top
Or, as a work colleague used to remark about another colleague 'She'd come out of the toilet smelling of roses' grin

DanniRae Thu 28-Mar-19 09:58:03

I was as shocked as Jen when her name was announced as the one leaving this week - I thought she was going to win. I felt it would be Leah who went! I actually thought that Ricardo's top was awful - It looked like nothing on earth - I couldn't believe the praise it received shock

Miep1 Thu 28-Mar-19 11:29:19

Who left? I didn't see it

Bathsheba Thu 28-Mar-19 22:08:39

Erm... the post immediately before yours, Miepl names the one who left hmm

Auntieflo Thu 28-Mar-19 22:15:41

I didn’t read this update to the thread, as I hadn’t watched until tonight.
Like others, I think Leah is really lucky to still be in.
Sorry that Jen had to go, but I also think that Juliet might win, although Ricardo could gallop up in the last lap.
His coat last week was stunning.

BBbevan Fri 29-Mar-19 02:56:43

I too thought Leah should have left. She always seemed to be in a flap. I hope Juliet wins, but Ricardo might pip her at the post

JackyB Fri 29-Mar-19 06:49:07

I enjoyed watching an episode of this when I was in the UK back in February. To bring myself up to date I looked at the website, and was shocked to find that they are calling the candidates "sewers". Really?

Bathsheba Fri 29-Mar-19 10:38:09

Why shocked JackyB? I sew, and I call myself a sewer. It's not pronounced the same as the word that means a waste pipe. Lots of words with the same spelling have different meanings and different pronunciations - tear, bow, lead, bass to name a few.

Jalima1108 Fri 29-Mar-19 11:05:37

I suppose they could call them 'needlepersons'
hmm

They sew, therefore are sewers
Those who knit are called knitters
I am not sure about crochetters, though!
