Alan Partridge - is it just me

It is the most unfunny programme on TV. I have never found Alan Partridge funny, just cringe making.? Steve Coogan is a really good actor. I wonder why he wastes his time with this drivel.
It may be comedy, but it's not to my taste.

I read that Steve Coogan based Alan Partridge on Alan Titchmarsh from the days when he used to present Pebble Mill at One. He chose the surname Partridge because the bird has a puffed out chest!

I find him funnier now I know that.

Unsurprisingly, the rather precious Alan Titchmarsh was not amused!

Going to see Stan and olly on Wednesday so will reserve judgement on the film till then

I believe A P is based on Richard Madeley. The early series were quite amusing but this one didn’t amuse me at all. I think it’s had its day and shouldn’t have been brought back.

I don't like Alan Partridge either.........can't see why he is funny.........seems just daft to me!

I liked the Office too only because during my working life there was always " one " and David Brent took them off a treat.

I watchvery little tv but I really do like AP and he makes me laugh but, for some reason, this series is just too uncomfortable to watch. I squirm at his total lack of self awareness and feel very uncomfortable watching him. Maybe it's me that's changed.....

I think he is dreadful. I was surprised to hear he doesn’t even write it himself. I put him in the same category as Mrs Brown’s Boys.

Well I think it's hilarious. A great skit on those awful TV presenters and programmes like the One show. Some great moments like his co-presenter pinching his jokes. It makes you squirm sometimes but it is really funny and Steve Coogan plays the part so well. Love it.

Oh just not funny for me either

I just hate anything that is based on laughing AT people. It is cruel on screen and in life. Laughing with people, is something else entirely.

I hated The Office for the same reason.

He was great in Stan & Ollie!

I think he’s definitely cringeworthy but that’s what makes him funny.

Oh heck, am I the only one who likes him ? It's the sheer gormlessness of the characters he plays and there are in existence people like him too which I find funny. His radio Norwich character was just typical of those who think they know everything and know nothing.

Yet a switch-over in the film Philomena with Judi Dench as they were the main two characters in that film so he did okay playing opposite her.

Have only ever seen excerpts as he just doesn’t make me laugh. Definitely cringeworthy!

I like the way he lampoons TV presenters on those awful cosy daytime programmes. He's just such an idiot. I've always liked his long suffering assistant Lynn.

Me too. I have never understood this character. Perhaps an Alan Partidge fan say what they like about him.

I must admit I find him funny, and even more excruciating as Paul/Pauline Calf but we all like different things.

Can't stand him - But DC love him. Is it a generational thing?
