who cant stand the silly DJ character he plays? I find it mortifying just to watch how awful he is and I don't find it at all funny.

Another who doesn't find it amusing , really embarrassing instead

Greyduster Mon 04-Mar-19 15:34:22

Plus one here??.

sodapop Mon 04-Mar-19 15:39:53

Another plus here, just silly.

Jane10 Mon 04-Mar-19 15:43:29

It's meant to be excruciating - and it is!

eazybee Mon 04-Mar-19 15:51:19

I can't bear him; he makes my flesh crawl.

Teetime Mon 04-Mar-19 16:15:45

and me excruciating and not at all funny.

KatyK Mon 04-Mar-19 16:25:52

Me too

nanaK54 Mon 04-Mar-19 16:34:02

Another one here

Fennel Mon 04-Mar-19 16:37:53

And me - makes me cringe.

GinJeannie Mon 04-Mar-19 17:34:03

got room for one more? Awful character.

M0nica Mon 04-Mar-19 17:35:27

Can't stand him - But DC love him. Is it a generational thing?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 04-Mar-19 17:37:07

I must admit I find him funny, and even more excruciating as Paul/Pauline Calf but we all like different things.

Parsley3 Mon 04-Mar-19 17:39:34

Me too. I have never understood this character. Perhaps an Alan Partidge fan say what they like about him.

Jane10 Mon 04-Mar-19 17:43:14

I like the way he lampoons TV presenters on those awful cosy daytime programmes. He's just such an idiot. I've always liked his long suffering assistant Lynn.

Sussexborn Mon 04-Mar-19 17:43:40

Have only ever seen excerpts as he just doesn’t make me laugh. Definitely cringeworthy!

EllanVannin Mon 04-Mar-19 17:46:55

Oh heck, am I the only one who likes him ? It's the sheer gormlessness of the characters he plays and there are in existence people like him too which I find funny. His radio Norwich character was just typical of those who think they know everything and know nothing.

Yet a switch-over in the film Philomena with Judi Dench as they were the main two characters in that film so he did okay playing opposite her.

crystaltipps Mon 04-Mar-19 17:55:20

I think he’s definitely cringeworthy but that’s what makes him funny.

KatyK Mon 04-Mar-19 17:56:02

He was great in Stan & Ollie!

M0nica Mon 04-Mar-19 17:58:00

I just hate anything that is based on laughing AT people. It is cruel on screen and in life. Laughing with people, is something else entirely.

I hated The Office for the same reason.

JessK Mon 04-Mar-19 18:10:24

Oh just not funny for me either

trisher Mon 04-Mar-19 18:43:23

Well I think it's hilarious. A great skit on those awful TV presenters and programmes like the One show. Some great moments like his co-presenter pinching his jokes. It makes you squirm sometimes but it is really funny and Steve Coogan plays the part so well. Love it.

dragonfly46 Mon 04-Mar-19 18:47:45

I think he is dreadful. I was surprised to hear he doesn’t even write it himself. I put him in the same category as Mrs Brown’s Boys.

Chewbacca Mon 04-Mar-19 18:47:57

I watchvery little tv but I really do like AP and he makes me laugh but, for some reason, this series is just too uncomfortable to watch. I squirm at his total lack of self awareness and feel very uncomfortable watching him. Maybe it's me that's changed.....
