Evening all, good wishes to you.

New series part one of 4 tonight.

Fairly gripping so far, but who wants to bet that the cat comes to a nasty end? sad

Auntieflo Thu 14-Mar-19 22:15:07

I’ve binge watched the first three tonight, did manage to fit in time for supper. Meanwhile I recorded the final part.
Then the news came on, and DH is watching, so I will have to fidget until I can regain control of the remote, and watch the end.

Bellanonna Thu 14-Mar-19 22:19:53

Ok, won’t spoil it for you then!

Namsnanny Fri 15-Mar-19 01:05:42

nanny2507.....lol!! No fights or squabbles in your house thengrin

Namsnanny Fri 15-Mar-19 01:11:30

Does anyone think they portrayed Adam as an unlikable person on purpose?
Maybe because they didn't want the viewer to invest too much into him as he has to die to push the plot along?
His lines, the clothes he wears, even the way he runs is annoying!! (black socks again with the shorts!!).

Anja Fri 15-Mar-19 07:22:54

And will the killing stop .......?

shysal Fri 15-Mar-19 09:17:11

I assume the dog met its end, but what about the owner? It left us a bit up in the air but thoroughly enjoyed being gripped all the way through.

BlueBelle Fri 15-Mar-19 09:23:03

I loved it was gripped by it although a few bits were far fetched funny after years of firing blanks he made a baby just before he died I thought the rooftop scene was pretty OTT but I can forgive all that great acting great writing
Rose has the most wonderful eyes deep and expressive she could act without saying a word
Thoroughly enjoyed it

travelsafar Fri 15-Mar-19 12:53:20

I am wondering if they will do another follow on series as Rose now out of prison and Leah has already threatened to kill her if she comes near her son. Also the apparent stabbing of Rose's 'dad' in the woods by the porter from the university........

maryeliza54 Fri 15-Mar-19 14:55:38

Well that’s 4 hours of my life ( minus adverts when I checked emails) that I’ll never get back. Utter tosh - not even good tosh ( which is a genre of its own)

maryeliza54 Fri 15-Mar-19 14:57:32

Oh Nams yes the sox and underpants - yuk

Sparklefizz Fri 15-Mar-19 17:03:48

Do you think the dreadful socks and underpants were supposed to point out to the viewer that no attractive young student half his age would ever fancy him/go to bed with him unless she had an ulterior motive?

Actually I personally never found him fanciable when he was in "Mr Selfridge"! He's not my type, even minus the socks!!. blush

mcem Fri 15-Mar-19 17:37:44

Binge watched ( otherwise I lose the plot!).
The timescale bothered me. How far along could the pregnancy have been when she was sentenced?
With 3 months until release, how old was the son?
The verdict was murder, not manslaughter, wasn't it?
So how long was her sentence?

tanith Fri 15-Mar-19 17:51:53

But she convinced everyone it was self defence so a lighter sentence would of been given for manslaughter.

mcem Fri 15-Mar-19 18:15:27

Certainly manslaughter would have meant a shorter sentence, but a couple of years?

Willow500 Fri 15-Mar-19 18:22:49

Loved it - my husband was confused by some of the first episode as he fell asleep during some of it. We did find it rather fun that Katherine Kelly and the actor who played Adam had been in Mr Selfridge together.

Really looking forward to the new series The Widow as I realised last night it's based on the book I only finished reading last month1

grannyticktock Fri 15-Mar-19 22:44:43

Really enjoyed it, despite a few implausible incidents. Kept me guessing right to the end with fresh twists.
Just a point of information: my daughter has done a bit of lecturing at Cambridge. She's had to deal with plagiarism, usually from internet sources. They way to detect it, she says, is to find a short but distinctive phrase or sentence from the essay and paste it into Google. You don't paste in a whole paragraph, because if it's been edited in any way, there won't be a match. Then once you have matched the source, you've got 'em!

Eloethan Fri 15-Mar-19 22:54:21

I enjoyed it very much until the end, which I thought was rushed and implausible. Disappointing.

maryeliza54 Sat 16-Mar-19 12:02:16

My only hope for a good ending was when the pathologist brought up the fact that two different knives had been used. I thought that maybe arose had stabbed him once first and that when Leah arrived sock-man was still alive and she finished him off with the other knife with two stabs. Then justice would be done with Rose being blamed and sock-man would be deaded which he definitely deserved - but not that I liked Leah who was very unprofessional and far too thin

Sparklefizz Sat 16-Mar-19 12:09:54

maryeliza54 I thought exactly the same.... in fact, I think it is a much better ending.

grannyticktock Sat 16-Mar-19 12:13:25

Ooh, me too! I thought perhaps Leah had administered the final death blow and got away with it.

Charleygirl5 Sat 16-Mar-19 13:21:24

It could have been done better over two episodes. Too much was too improbable.

I agree, Rose would not be out after 2 years even with good behaviour.

I think there may be another series as Rose had promised no more killings but then the dog and her "father" were.

Bellanonna Sat 16-Mar-19 23:15:39

It was a bit inconclusive. Obviously the dog had been killed but are we to presume the porter killed Michael too?

harrigran Sat 16-Mar-19 23:37:23

I thought it was highly likely that Rose would go on the roof, she was the kind of person who would have read the Night climbers of Cambridge.
Adam was pants, literally. I just knew he was a weak character, the eternal schoolboy.

Lily65 Mon 18-Mar-19 19:47:20

Nice setting, some decent actors, paper thin story.

gillybob Fri 22-Mar-19 07:34:24

I just watched the last part of this last night and thought they rushed the ending . Glad that Rose got found out in the end but it could have been better..... is it just me or should that male detective be sacked ? He just wanted a conviction ....didn’t matter who it was. I hate miscarriages of justice and Rose should have got 20 years not 2.
