I'm starting this new thread as apparently our other one was over a year old!! shock

We'll have to do more gossiping to prevent this happening again.

Here's a link to the old one.

Poor Ed and Emmer it is all beginning to unravel.

Have you seen that June Spencer (really she's Peggy!!)is 100 on Friday. No wonder she has plans this week grin

shysal Tue 11-Jun-19 12:23:38

Yes, eGJ, I was just reading about her in my new Radio Times. She looks amazing!

Craftycat Tue 11-Jun-19 13:11:20

Heard June Spencer on radio 4 this morning. What a lovely lady!
I am dreading them writing Joe out -I know I will shed a tear.
I remember my Mum sobbing when the fire in the barn killed off Phil's first young wife. I was 2 so it made a big impression. I did not know why she was crying at the time but I joined in & she told me in later years about it.

Anyone got a theory about Jim? Why did he rush off from the party? Was it one of the guests dug up by Alastair and Fiona???

shysal Tue 11-Jun-19 14:49:05

He panicked after being told that his piano teacher was there, so I wondered whether he had made a pass at her or made a fool of himself somehow.

merlotgran Tue 11-Jun-19 18:43:16

Just seen June Spencer on the evening news. She looks amazing for 100. So glad she's not retiring yet.

merlotgran Tue 11-Jun-19 18:44:35

PS. Thank you Lazigirl Just spotted your post. smile

AyjayF Tue 11-Jun-19 22:33:39

Ooh. What is young Leonard up to?

LullyDully Wed 12-Jun-19 08:17:14

Amazing to think Peggy is 100. She sounds so bright and much younger. Long may she carry on. Congratulations to her.

On a worrying note it looks like the Grundy family are in for another load of trouble. Seems to be their lot in life. What with Joe, Will and Ed. Poor long suffering Clarrie.

Lazigirl Fri 14-Jun-19 08:44:00

I loved what June Spencer Aka Peggy said "If I close my eyes I can be any age". So true, think as we age many of us will feel the same. We don't really age inside, it's just the body that lets us down sad

AyjayF Sat 15-Jun-19 13:09:06

I agree with Tony. Peggy is playing mind games + pitting family members against each other -- again.
Just give them the money or give it to an environmental charity!

mumofmadboys Sat 15-Jun-19 13:12:18

It sounded very stilted her announcement as if it was being read out

Lazigirl Sat 15-Jun-19 14:00:00

Peggy's gesture seems contrived by the BBC as their contribution to the climate debate by appropriating Peggy's birthday? Half a million quid is bound to cause division in the Archer clan.

Sara65 Sat 15-Jun-19 14:01:07

I missed it last night, what had happened?

merlotgran Sat 15-Jun-19 14:44:08

Peggy is one of my least favourite characters. She exerts control over her large family with her seemingly bottomless pit of money and now she's adding Brookfield into the equation.

If I remember correctly, Helen is set to inherit The Lodge when Peggy dies as Peggy wanted to ensure she and Henry would always have a roof over their heads. This was before Jack was born. Will Kate then be a sitting tenant or will Peggy change her will again?

No wonder Tony is gnashing his teeth.

merlotgran Sat 15-Jun-19 14:48:13

However.....I can't wait for Nocasha to hear the news. How many unrealistic projects will she dream up before Pat reminds her it's Bridge Farm in the running and she's a mere newcomer.

Avor2 Sun 16-Jun-19 21:34:33

What is wrong with Jim?????????

Merelina Sun 16-Jun-19 22:51:03

Something nasty in the woodshed!

annep1 Mon 17-Jun-19 02:22:29

Lazygirl and Mumofmadboys exactly what I thought.

Peonyrose Mon 17-Jun-19 07:16:11

What an unpleasant character is Jim, nothing excuses his behaviour! I am getting fed up with Jill and Leonard too, wish they would retire together to the Orkneys. Peggy's control with her money over her family is getting ridiculous, setting one against the other, owoukd tell her to stop playing games and do what she want with her cash. As for Natasha! As an Archers fan of 40 plays years, I wish we had some more likeable characters, apart from David and his family, Pat and Tony and their children, there's not many. Sigh.....

NfkDumpling Mon 17-Jun-19 07:26:20

Jim seemed quite happy to see people until he spotted one person and left. I missed that it was the piano teacher. He did give up lessons - because she couldn’t teach him anymore. Perhaps something there which brought up something else in his past?

merlotgran Mon 17-Jun-19 09:07:31

Before Jim legged it, IIRC, there was an earlier scene where Fiona told Alistair she didn't know who the man in the wheelchair was but he might be the son of friends of their grandparents. She's got a flipping good memory!

So that would make him Jim's age?

Alistair's real father?
